Big Finale

Lapis was not in the mood to play around and attacked with a wave of rocks, buryng Carmil. For some reason, she still wasn’t sure if that would be enough.

She turned to her friends, who were still on the ground begging to have their love reciprocated.

“Lapis, you look so strong!” Said Fulgor.

“This body matches you perfectly, let’s get married!” Continued Auron.

It was terrible for her to see her friend like this, but she could agree with some of those words. She never felt more comfortable with her body as now she was fused with Caeneus.

“Listen guys, I need you here with me.”

“I will be with you forever.” Both answered without giving any signal that the effect was wearing off.

“Maybe a blow to the head would solve this? But I don’t want to hurt you.”

The rocks where Carmil was started to shake and she knew soon she would be in trouble, that’s when she had an idea.

“You, I don't care to hurt!”

She turned to Kazen, still crawling on the ground and she threw a rock in his head with all the strength she got. The attack barely hurt Kazen, who still looked at Alis crying that she was calling her ex-boyfriend.

The rocks flew away, showing Carmil up again. Lapis was impressed with his endurance, even being hurt he still got up to continue to fight.

“You may be immune to my powers, but it is not easy to take someone out of it, after al,l they are pursuing what their hearts desire most.”

The man went to Lapis, a pink aura was around his body making him float at an impressive speed. Lapis put her armored arms in front of her, receiving the strong punch of Carmil.

His pink aura seemed to improve both speed and strength and his second release was still up, something that Lapis didn’t knew she could maintain for long.

“I have my second release for years now! I will not lose to a kid who just discovered it!”

Carmil continued to punch Lapis, her defense was good, but not enough to keep up with the man. She tried to counterattack with her own punches, hurting him, but most part of the damage was absorbed by the pink aura.

“Now, give me the star and I promise I won’t hurt you anymore.” He said stomping her head, which made her fall to the ground.

She felt her connection with Caeneus going away and started to consider Carmil’s proposition.

“Hey, I’m here with you, don’t give up yet.” She heard the voice of Caeneus echoing in her mind.

“You are a good boy, Caeneus. One last attack then.”

She pulled all the rocks she could in her direction, one of those hitting Carmil on the back, pushing him away and giving time she needed to prepare the attack.

The rocks started to connect, crushing on each other. The giant rocks were fusing, making a smaller and denser object.

A black rock heavier than anything Lapis has ever done was ready and she prepared to throw it with the strength of a cannon ball. Carmil was looking at her and she had the perfect aim to hit him.

Ready to attack, Auron and Fulgor appeared in front of her, startling Lapis. Her dense ball was shot up, missing Carmil who started to laugh. Her connection with Caeneus disappeared and she fell on her knees, knowing her last chance was over.

Carmil started to walk slowly at Lapis, who hadn’t the strength to do anything. She knew it would be over if she had no help and tears started to appear on her face.

…After all, they are pursuing what their hearts desire most.

She remembered what Carmil said and thought that might be a loophole with the rules of his power.

“Please guys, I need help. I’m strong but I can’t move on alone. I need people by my side!”

She screamed hoping that this would change what their hearts wished and with the help of both, they could win against Carmil.

“You think your words can change what people want? Humans are a terrible kind, and my power makes all their egoistic traits emerge. They don’t really care about you, they just want to have you. Unfortunately, you didn’t follow my rules, so I will have to hurt you.”

He prepared another punch as Lapis was crying hopelessly. She closed her eyes expecting the impact. But the impact never came.

When she opened her eyes she saw the man holding Carmil’s hand easily.

“You made my student cry, I won’t give you a chance to apologize.”

In rapid movements, Auron and Fulgor grabbed Lapis and jumped away. Their eyes were still weird with the effects of Carmil’s arrows, but they seemed to understand the situations.

“You guys…” Lapis could not hold her tears.

“We told you we would always be by your side.” Said Fulgor.

“Now we have to protect you.” Continued Auron taking her away from Kazen.

Carmil was trying to escape Kazen’s grasp, but, even being more muscular, the strength of the teacher was in another league.

“This is what happens when you mess with my students.”

He holded Carmil over his head, while the man screamed for forgiveness. A giant fireball was formed shooting to the sky, like a reverse meteor, taking the body of Carmil away.

The effects of Carmil’s power were over, but the chaos continued as everyone there knew what the other wished most.

Lapis, Fulgor and Auron were together recovering from the fight. She hugged them both crying.

“You really did it.”

Fulgor was the one who was most embarrassed, with his face red now that Lapis knew his feeling.

“So, Lapis…”

“You don’t need to say anything you are not ready to. I learned this recently. I love you both, but I need to connect with my true self before I even think about entering any relationship, ok?”

The boys agreed and Fulgor could breathe normally now that he didn’t destroy his friendship with his feelings.

“Now, if you excuse me I need to tell my mom about me. This would be so much easier if dad was still here…”

Fulgor and Auron accompanied Lapis until she found her family and gave her strength to confront them.

While all this happened, Kazen was seated on the stage with a frown.

“What happened, super-hero?”

Loretta jumped to the stage sitting by his side.

“Another day, another defeat for me.” Said Kazen.

“Defeat? You destroyed that guy, but more than that I saw that you snapped out that effect to help Lapis.”

“It is not about that, Alis and her boyfriend are back together again. But wait, were you watching the fight?”

“Well, I was coming to help, but when I got here the situation was already under control.”

The two stayed in silence as people were cleaning the chaos that happened. For one moment Kazen felt at peace with Loretta, but he didn’t say anything. The two were side by side for minutes before Loretta talked again.

“You know, it is not just the kids who need help to find their way. If you already realized that you are lost, you can talk to me.”

Normally he was too stubborn to enter that conversation, but he felt nothing by defeating Carmil, and even his love for Alis seemed more like a dream than a real feeling.

“Maybe I will take your offer.”
