Bad situation

Whilst carrying the man on her back like a sack, Lan Du would constantly check if the man woke up or not, if he did, she would immediately knock him unconscious.

She took out her phone and checked the location, the dot slowly began to move, she glared at the man on her back and gave hi an elbow out of frustration.

"If not for you, I would be there already"She spoke out in an annoyed tone and kept running

After a bit, she finally caught up, she remained in the bushes and followed them closely.She didn't get too close and made sure they didn't notice her either.Night soon fell and Lan Du tied him against the tree when the group stopped.She didn't start a fire like the group did, instead she just used heat packs to make sure she didn't freeze at night.

As for the man, he slowly woke up, he was expecting to get knocked out again but to his 

surprise, Lan Du let him wake up properly this time.

"Yo, finally get to talk to you face to face, how's it been"Lan Du grinned and sat down.

"W-who are you, I was not informed of any other dragon ranked mercenaries"He growled

Lan Du pointed at herself

"me?I'm only in Viper rank, Guan Ya is the only dragon rank we have"Lan Du said

The man felt humiliated, he was done in by a viper rank!

"Now, I want to know, since unite 2 and 3 are only part of the main team, how many others are there?"Lan Du smiled and asked

The man spat

"Even if you kill me I won't tell you"He said out of pride

Lan Du smiled, she stood up and took out a piece of cloth which she used to stuff his mouth.

"Tap the tree three times when you decide to give in"Lan Du said cheerfully

The man was confused, but the next moment, Lan Du took out a needle and poked it into his thighs.

"The nerves in the thighs are especially sensitive, how does it feel?"

"mrgh"

The man wanted to scream but the cloth prevented him from doing so.She struggled in pain and tried to kick but to no avail.Lan Du grinned and poked another needle into his other thigh.

"Next will be your abdomen"Lan Du giggled and took out several needles

The man stared at her with eyes filled with fear

Lan Du only smiled even further when she saw the fearful gaze, she stabbed another needle into the abdomen and stared at him.

"Not giving in?Then take a few more"Lan Du held another needle and this time stabbed his earlobes

The man wriggled and kicked in pain, he couldn't move since he was tied nor could he let out a sound due to the cloth.To him, this was true hell.

Lan Du then took out a different needle, this one had a long rough string attached to it.

She then dipped the needle and string in salt water

"Salt enhances your pain when they come in contact with wounds"Lan Du said slowly as she took out her dagger as well.

She cut his thigh open and sprinkled some medicine to stop the bleeding.

"I wonder how you would feel if I tried to sew up your wounds with a needle covered in salt water, the string isn't smooth and can even cause splinters"Lan Du smirked and grabbed his thigh to hold him still.

"Mrffff!"

He struggled and tried to run but was still bound by the ropes.

Lan Du poked the needle in and began sewing, with every stroke, the man would twitch and struggle with all his might.Sweat rolled down his body as the intense pain pierced his body.Lan 

Du sewed up the wound completely with the needle and tied it up.

"How does it feel?I have all the time in the world, I should do the same with your other thigh 

now"Lan Du held up her knife again and was about to cut again when the man banged his head on the tree three times.

Lan Du paused

"Oh, finally gave in?"The man nodded his head as tears rolled down his face

'devil!He is a complete and utter sadist!'He thought to himself

Lan Du pulled the cloth out of his mouth

"How many other squadrons reming"She asked

"t-three more..."He replied lifelessly

"here are they"Lan Du asked again

"Squad 1 is up ahead with the melee combat ambush, squad 4 is another sniper unit that supports squad 1 in the ambush whilst squad 5 is the main squad, being specially trained, they are like bloodthirsty killers so they are used as a night ambush, they should be preparing today and will attack tomorrow night"His face was pale from both blood loss and pure exhaustion, being tortured by Lan Du felt as if he just experienced hell itself.

Lan Du gave him a kick

"Next time say it sooner, then I wouldn't need to waste time with torture"Lan Du growled with vexation

The man wanted to cry, not out of pain this time, but out of grief

'I've already told you everything, why am I still getting beaten'

"Are there any other assassins apart from your group"Lan Du asked

The man shook his head

"Our group is famous for our efficiency so no other groups bother. with teh missions we accept, so its unlikely that another assassin took this mission"He replied earnestly

Lan Du chuckled

"Your group's fame is quite useful, now, do you want a quick and painless death or a painful but glorious death?"Lan Du brandished her knife and asked cutely

The man shivered

"p-painless"He replied, knowing that he was going to die anyways, he would rather die quickly, being tortured earlier was already enough for him to go crazy, he didn't want to suffer under another minute of torture.

Lan Du smirked

"Coward"She then slit his throat and poured the green liquid over his corpse

'They have snipers in the next ambush as well as fighters, I need to take care of the snipers first...he said ahead so there should be some sniping spots'

Lan Du headed deeper into the bushes, she searched the nearby area and found a total of three possible sniping spots.She hid in one of the higher ones where she could see the other two spots.There, she covered herself with leaves, after making herself seem more natural, she laid down near a tree and closed her eyes.

The night passed quickly and the sleep washed away any fatigue she felt from running yesterday, she hid at the side of the cliff silently and held a dagger at hand.

After a few minutes, she heard footsteps.

"Quickly, they're about to arrive, set up the sniper and prepare to take out Yu Tian"A hurried voice rang out, two people walked over and set up two snipers upon the cliff.

The moment they laid on their bellies to prepare for the snipe, Lan Du dashed over with the dagger at hand, one of them reacted quickly to her sneak atatck and was able to shoot a pistol at her before she stabbed the dagger down on his back.The other one was shocked, by the time he took out the pistol, his throat was already slit.

Lan Du covered her waits which had a small graze at the side where the bullet barely missed her.

'I underestimated them, one of them had such a fast reaction, even I might not react that fast...'She applied some medicine to the would and laid down on her belly.On the other two sniping spots, there was one person on each.She pointed the sniper at one of them and shot.

To her surprise, when she shot, the man dies without a sound, not even the shot was heard due to the silencer attached to the gun,Lan Dy clicked the sniper and aimed it at the second person.That man was much more vigilant, he looked around before setting down but was instantly taken out by Lan Du without much effort.

She readied her finger on the trigger and aim directly at his head.With a small pull, the bullet shot and the man's head dropped to the ground.Blood flowed down the cliff he was on and silence overcame the area.

Lan Du tossed the sniper away and ran down the mountain.

'The wuss said that there is two ambushes at once, one being the sniper while the other is a melee ambush'

She glanced down upon the weights still equiped on her body, she frowned and dropped them one by one as she ran.Every time a weight was dropped, her bust speed increased slightly.

'I won't be able to train properly for the next few days' She sighed to herself as she ran

It took ver over an hour to arrive at the scene, many mercenaries were injured and a small amount were dead on the ground.There was a total of 9 assassins, 3 were holding Guan Ya back while the remaining focused on wiping out the remaining mercenaries.

'They are all very skilled, I won't be able to take out much before I get killed' Lan Du frowned, she took out the pistol she got from the previous snipers and aimed it silently at the head of the assassin.

'If I can't take them head on, then a few quick shots should do'

Lan Du took aim, but due to all the movement, she found it hard to shoot.She then realised the three on Guan Ya were slightly suppressed, she smiled and took a shot.bang

No one heard it due to the silencer, yet an assassin dropped dead, Guan Ya was surprised but too advantage of it to suppress the two remaining assassins further.

Seeing that Guan Ya should be able to take care of the remaining two, she put the pistol down and took out her dagger.She searched for Yu Tian amidst the chaos, he was surrounded by many mercenaries trying to protect him, she slowly approached from the bushes and got closer slowly.

An assassin that pinned a mercenary down was about to stab him to give the finishing blow when a hand came out from behind, covered his mouth and a knife came in and slit his throat.The blood splattered over the mercenary which freaked him out.

'Two down, seven to go'

Lan Du continued to approach, most the mercenaries were around Yu Tian so there was only 2 assassins who was taking care of the stragglers whilst the remaining were attacking Yu Tian.More and more mercenaries dropped down in front of him which caused him to be terrified.

The second assassin noticed Lan Du and immediately shouted

"Another one has come"He shouted out

Lan Du frowned and ran over to that assassin, she threw a punch at him, the man was barely able to avoid it and grabbed her arm.He was about to use the momentum to throw her, only to realise that his vision suddenly flipped and before he knew it, he was the one who got tossed.

The last scene he saw was a blade coming down upon her head before he blacked out.

'Three down'

She turned to Guan Ya and saw that he has taken care of the two remaining assassins, she smiled and stared at the four remaining ones.

The four became desperate and their attacks become even more fierce, Lan Du backed off slowly seeing that they became desperate.

'A cornered mouse will still bite, but this is also good, they lost their sense of reasoning now that the only thing in their head is kill and escape'

Lan Du held two daggers in her hand before running up, these two were the ones she won from the auction.The Shuang Long daggers.

One of the assassins tried to raise his sword to block it, but the moment the blade came in contact with the dagger, as if it was ice, it shattered under the impact.

Lan Du then pierced him with the other dagger, darkness overcame his mind as he fell to the ground with a lifeless expression.

The three remaining gripped their swords tightly, they suddenly darted towards Yu Tian who was still surrounded by mercenaries.Every slash they made caused a mercenary to get fatally wounded, Lan Du knew their goal so she and Guan Ya both ran up as fast as possible.

"Die!"The assassin's shouted out as they thrusted their blades at Yu Tian.

Lan Du and Guan Ya barely got to the three, seeing that they cannot block all three, Lan Du chose to tackle Yu Tian out of the way and tried to avoid the blades.

But she miscalculated the trajectory and one of the blades pierced her right arm.The blade poked through the other side of her arm and blood dripped down like a river.

"dammit"

Seeing that their final ditch effort failed, they cursed, but a giant shadow covered them.They turned their heads to see Guan Ya with a cold expression behind them, he slammed down his arms and instantly crushed one of the assassin's body.

'amazing, is this the strength of a dragon ranked'Lan Du watched in amazement, she didn't pull out the sword yet but took out the pistol with her left arm.She aimed it steadily at the remaining two trying to avoid Guan Y's attacks.

Bang

One of them dropped down like a fly, now Guan Ya knew why one of the three assassins before dropped dead, he smiled and grabbed the final assassin.

"Die"He said silently and slammed his body to the ground.

The assassin smashed into the ground and his body bounced up a single time before he laid there motionlessly.

Sweat rolled down Lan Du's face as the pain in her arm intensified.The injured mercenaries were huffing while others were struggling to get up.Some were fine since they were rather close to Yu Tian so the front lines took most the hits.

They came up to support the injured ones and had them lean on a tree to rest.

"Yu Tian, you better have medical supplies or I will skin you alive when I'm healed"Lan Du said heavily, her face was pale and her arm was still bleeding.Pulling out the sword now would only cause the bleeding to increase so she had to bear with the pain.

Yu Tian had his attendant hand out bandages and supplies to stop bleed and infections.When Lan Du received her share, she placed a cloth in her mouth and pulled out the sword.

mrff

She bit down heavily on the cloth and applied medicine onto the wound.Stingy pain jolted her body, she then wrapped her arm up with a bandage.She spat out the cloth and used her teeth to pull on the bandage so she could tie it up tightly.

Liu Bu was part of the slightly injured group, he was only cut on the die of his body, no major blood loss so he could move freely.He walked over to Lan Du with some food.

"Where have you been for the past 2 days?I couldn't find you anywhere"He asked

Some mercenaries from behind heard him ask

"That brat was probably too scared to act so he hid until the situation was more favourable"A mercenary laughed in mockery

Lan Du ignored him and took the food.

She bit down on the bread, having spent the entire day running around, she was tired beyond her imagination.She quickly devoured the break and drank some water.

"Pass me a few more loaves"She said

Liu Bu smiled and went to get more bread

After eating her fill, she sighed

"Liu Bu, you see those mercenaries over there?"She asked

Liu Bu stared at the mercenaries who mocked Lan Du previously

"Yes, why?"He asked

"Tonight, they will most likely die, us as well in the worst case scenario"Lan DU shook her head and sighed

The mercenaries heard her and walked up

"Brat, who said we were going to die!Are you asking for death!"One of them shouted

Lan Du sneered

"I have spent the last two days killing, did you think todays ambush was the only one?I took care of snipers that was meant to accompany the current ambush, if I didn't did you think you'd all be alive right now?"Lan Du snapped back

The man spat

"Who would believe that you killed snipers while you were gone, and how would you even know where the snipers are"He sneered and retorted

Lan Du shook her head

"There is no point in talking to the dead, Guan Ya, you're the only one who can hold off the assassins that will come tonight, compared to the one we just faced, it is like the difference between a sheep and a wolf, they are special trained group that is made for slaughter"Lan Du's face was damp and showed a trace of helplessness

Guan Ya has never seen that look in Lan DU's eyes before, it wasn't of arrogance nor confidence, it was helplessness!

'If even the little Devil shows such helplessness, would we really die?'

"Bah, who would believe a brat like you!"The mercenaries that held a grudge against Lan Du shouted

Lan Dy glared at him and threw a vicious kick at his stomach.The man was sent flying back and hit a tree, he coughed a few times before struggling to get up.

"Shut up, next time you talk back I'll cut your vocal cords"

Lan Du's face was dark and was still trying to think of a way to prevent the next tragedy that would befall them.Her gaze was serious and she racked her brain until to the maximum.

'This will be tough'
