Chapter 4:

A storm hit

I was reborn as a maid to the cruel tyrant prince (vol 1)

****

Two men sat in a dark room late one summer evening, working diligently at some computers in a small office. Though it was clear that it was after hours in the office, the two men still tapped upon the keyboards without question of their overtime. Afterall if was overtime that was going to put food on the tables at their homes and even so, they were fastest and most reliable game scripters in their company so it wasn't like anyone else could do this. The deadline for the new otome game they were working on was within a week so they could not afford the evenings off. That being said, a week was nothing for them together with the scale of work they had been given. It gave them enough time for breaks inbetween.... and it was in these breaks that they chose to complain.

"Geez, I'm sooo booored!" The one game developer sighed, leaning back in his chair in exhaustion as the other nonchalantly stopped tying to nod.

"I agree, after typing in so many codes and scripts, I have become allergic to letters..." they answered, the first now spinning in their chair slightly as they flopped back.

"It doesn't help that what we are working on is yet ANOTHER otome game! We were a studio founded upon JRPG's, since when since when did we start making so many otome's?!" The first pointed out in agitation as the first flicked through some papers on his desk.

"Since otome's became the lifeline of income for our studio. I don't know anyone who actually even plays our RPG's..." The second pointed out as the first scratched his head with a sigh.

"Kids are ungrateful these days, don't know good game play even if it hit them in the face. Urgh couldn't fps games have been the lifeline of our studio?!"

"If they were then we wouldn't be getting nearly as much income as we do now," the second noted as the first frowned from behind him.

"Yeah... I guess..." he answered, sitting back up in his chair and turning back to the coding on his computer screen, unable to argue against this point. A few moments passed of silence and keyboard tapping as the game developers wrote up more script...

"You know, it doesn't help that this otome game seems particularly more cliché than usual...." the second broke this silence as the fist looked back at him in a rage filled agreement.

"EXACTLY!" The first slammed his fist on the desk before looking back to his screen. "I mean look at this, aside from the bad ends in the game, everything else is so linear it makes me want to cry! What's so good about these perfect pretty boys and their perfect world anyway?! It's all so by the book!" He noted as it was a few more clicks on his keyboard that the second simply added.

"You know, there is nothing to say that the world needs to be perfect..." he pointed out as the first stopped his rambling for a few, too look back at his friend.

"Huh?"

"All the person playing will ever know about this world is it's medieval western European inspired backgrounds and the tiny bits of it's lore learned from it's characters..." the second pointed out as the first raised an eyebrow to this.

"So...?"

"So... we can actually add what we want to the worlds lore. So long as it's only visible to us and not the viewers through the game files, even if it's just for fun we can making writing this story alot more tolerable!!" The second noted before raising his finger to his chin thoughtfully. "Let's see... so we actually need a lightning effect in certain dramatic parts of the game. So why don't we add it in the game files that the lightning exist because in reality the world in this otome actually has horrifically huge storms that can last up to days even weeks at a time!! We just need to not actually explain that in game!" The second then clicked his fingers as the first jumped at this.

"Ha ha, great idea! Make the thunder sound really loud, those otome gamers won't know what hit them!" The first mentioned before scheming to himself. "I'll even script a small rpg within the game files that we can play in breaks, secretly they all will be playing an rpg not an otome!"

"It'll only be us who see's one another's efforts, but if someone manages to get in the game files, it'll be a great little easter egg" the second pointed out as the first fist pumped to himself.

"Alright, let's do this then! I'm all fired up!" He laughed as the second joined in on his laughter, their laughter echoing throughout the office as they

into action their unknowingly very impactive little scheme.

*****

At least I am assuming that is what happened...

Dear gamer devs, in another world...

WHAT THE DAMN HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!

"Huh? You didn't think the thunder was going to be that loud? What do you mean, this is fairly quiet compared to usual," Sana replied to one of my many questions to her as I gripped tightly to my broom. Quiet?! What about that frightening booming noise is quiet, don't tell me there is much louder? How do people even live through this, it's ridiculous!! It had been an hour or two since the incident and the storm raged on outside the manor house in the most frightening way it could.

"Storms are meant to be loud, but not at this level! It's shaking the manor house, I feel unsafe!!" I exclaimed as Sana went to open her mouth, however-

KRAKABOOM BOOM BOOM

Unless she had somehow become a Loudred from P**emon then I very much doubted that I just heard what she said.

"Can't you see what I mean?!" I then pointed out as Sana gave a stiff laugh.

"Despite how loud this storm is, it won't cause any damage. It's rare that lightning hits the earth and when it does, the crater is usually miles away. Besides we have defence barriers anyways here at the manor to deflect lightning strikes!" Sana pointed out as I could only break out in a cold sweat to this statement. What the heck was that about lightning strikes causing craters Sana?!

"Back where I came from the most you'd need to deflect a storm was a metal pole on top of a large building, not a defence system!!" I pointed out as Sana gave me a puzzled expression.

"Where was that? Storms like these are the same everywhere, aren't they?" Sana resp0nded as I shook my head adamantly to this.

"No, definitely not!"

"Annie, haven't you lived in this country your entire life?"

Ah, she got me there, although my former self lived in the normal climate country of Japan in a past life, Antoinette Silverston had always lived in this country and through it's bizarre weather... it wasn't like I could say the storms in another world were much calmer, they would cart me straight off to an insane asylum...

Jingle jingle

"Ah, the bell on your wrist..." Sana pointed down to a bangle round my right wrist, the small silver bell on it swaying back and forth on it's own making a light jingling noise. I raised up the bangle, a sour expression on my face as I watched the bell ring. Actually, maybe being admitted into an insane asylum wouldn't be so much of a bad thing thinking about it. It was a good out...

Let's rewind to two hours ago...

****

In my pursuit to stay out of the limelight, I had somehow found myself instead the centre of attention of every person in the room, including the person who I least wanted to notice me, Dante giving a cut throat glare at me as he sat drenched from head to foot with tea. Hugo stared at the both of us, somewhat dumfounded at what happened; I swear I even heard a shocked gasp from behind me somewhere from one of the maids. Yet, despite the catastrophe I had accidentally caused, despite me knowing that my life was mortally in danger now, I still found myself stuck to my spot like an idiot, my mind completely having shut off after what I did. It was like all my ability to think had ran out of my brain, leaving on the emergency alarms flashing. It was a painful few seconds, seconds that arguably did not seem like seconds but minutes in reality, my mind trying to catch up with what exactly happened. I was serving tea to Hugo and just realised just who he was in the game of Tyrant king, when suddenly there was a huge explosion like rumble of thunder. Next thing I know the cup was in the air and the tea was all over the worst person it could have landed on. What actually were the chances of such a thing like that happening?! Was I cursed?!

It was after these agonising seconds, I finally felt my brain reboot, my hands starting to twitch as I slowly began to reach over for him.

"I-I-I - I"

I hadn't quite rebooted enough to speak as Dante then tch'ed at me, clicking his fingers.

It was with such a simple click, that a hand then grabbed my outstretched one as I turned to look at Hugo who wore a firm expression on his face... before then my hand made a 180 twist to the back of my body and was pressed against my ba- OW OW OW OW OOOOOW WHAT THE HELL?!

Hugo held me in a lock as I found myself crippled on the floor in so much pain that it even ruined my self monologuing- ow please let go, this is no way to handle a lady my age at all! Hugo, what on earth, I just went out my way to verify you were a good guy and you do this?! Dante got up off the vanity lounger and then crouched next to the me writing in pain on the floor with tears in my eyes.

"You know there is a special layer of the underworld for idiots like you..." he started with, as I found myself in too much pain to make a reasonable come back to this. Instead I could only blurt out pleads for my arm.

"I-I'm sorry- ow, pl-please- ow"

"Eh, if sorry meant anything, we wouldn't have prison cells..." Dante rejected my apology coldly, before her then lit a fire in his hands- WOAH wait, he really can light fire in his hands, I mean I expected it but I hadn't ever actually seen it before, from anyone let alone this spoilt brat- "So what part should I incinerate first? Your brain? It doesn't seem like you need it..." he spoke with not a trace of expression on his face, sweat starting to come down my own that was not the product of the flame in his hands- This wasn't the time to be amazed by some fancy magic, I might actually die!!

"Your highness, it was an accident, maybe you are taking it too far..." Hugo cut in as I eyed up to him. What check out the kahoots on this guy, speaking to flame boy like this- Wait a minute! Just who's side are you on anyway, how can you seriously stand their and speak for my side on things whilst you are also turning my arm into cellentarni?!

"You think there is any saving this girl after she dowsed the prince in a cup of tea??" Dante spoke icily, not wanting to hear debate as even Hugo seemed discouraged by the prince's temper, when he then coughed.

"Well actually it was me who spilt the tea, she just got spooked by the thunder and it startled me too..." Hugo noted as Dante remained firm in his stance, not wishing to debate any further as Hugo raised an eyebrow to this. "You should understand that more than anyone, considering you are actually afraid of thu-"

The flame in Dante's hand went out as Dante used this hand to make Hugo pause.

"That's incorrect..." he replied simply, Hugo not pushing his look to push this further... when it was then that Dante go to his feet, backing away from me, much to my relief. "Though I'll acknowledge that the thunder was unexpected at the least..." he went on looking away as I felt Hugo release me. What was this? Was I allowed to live now? I sat up rubbing my wrist, wondering just how a small child had such strength, when I then felt Dante's glare back on me. "However, I still believe severe punishment is in order..." Dante muttered as I froze with my eyes to the floor. I had a feeling that if I looked him in the eye, I'd be signing my death warrant. Was I going to loose my fingers?! Were they going to make me swallow molten lead?? I dreaded to think just what this child meant by severe punishment!

It was then however that I seemed to be saved by the sound of somebody bursting into the prince's bedroom and a sharp clop of heels, as every face came to direction of Lady Irian who hurriedly rushed over to the aid of the prince. I never thought I would be so happy to see this old woman frantically dart towards us, nor her now much more preferable punishments.

"Your highness, I got informed by a employee that there was a problem, what is...it..." the woman's panicked tone slowed down as she came closer to us, noticing that the white vanity chair and the prince were drenched... she remained quiet for a moment, trying to work out what happened... before her eyes trailed over to me. Ah... it seems like she figured out that I had a play with this.... Well I'd rather she'd punish me then the crimson eyed demon before us...

What I was not expecting was for her to walk over to me and then slap my head down into a bow along with her- why did this woman have such a powerful smack, isn't this child abuse?! Whilst I did my best to restrain my tears, Lady Irian spoke up.

"My apologies your highness, it was I who put this maid on duty as a personal maid for this week, despite her inexperience. She is only a new worker so I ask that you overlook this foolish mistake just this once..."she then began the process of saving my butt from the horrendous situation I had gotten into. I could feel the prince's eyes proceed to stare daggers at me as I kept my head to the floor, I didn't even need to look up to see his expression.

"You certainly are merciful Lady Irian..." Dante replied, a statement I could have agreed with if it were not for this woman crushing my head with her grip at this moment in time.

"It may seem so, but I will see to it that this maid get's punished after her shift is over..." Lady Irian responded as I gave a placid expression to this fact. I expected as much but it didn't mean I was looking forward to it. Dante frowned as there was another stiff silence as he thought about it more. Despite this, it seemed as though he would accept the ladies offer, meaning I would have to prepare for some sort of punishment later. Nonetheless I accepted this fate given to me... afterall, it was better than having to be involved more with the prince...

Is what my thoughts were, until quite suddenly, I felt myself being yanked forwards by my wrist, much to my shock. Dante grabbed a firm grip on my arm, pulling me over to his side.

"No, I understand that it was an accident,so there is no need for a punishment, I was over reacting to this situation...." Dante mentioned as my eyes widened a little to this. Were my ears deceiving me? I turned my head to look at Dante. Upon this child's face was a rather cruel smile, one that didn't match up to his words at all, it seemed that my ears were indeed betraying me! It was then that Dante raised up my hand. "In fact I was just thinking that someone like this deserves extra attention on my part, so I'd like to temporarily promote her!" He went on as it was then that something locked around my wrist. Upon my hand was a silver bangle bracelet with a bell upon it, one that didn't look to have a clasp on it... huh? Just what was this? A gift? Dante then pointed at me, making me flinch as he kept his grip on my arm, the same smile on his face. "Until she can learn to do her job properly, I'm going to rely on this maid to do everything for me!" Was the cursed next sentence he spoke, my face instantly becoming pale... I stared at this childs eyes. His words said mercy but his eyes read something different... they read 'I am going to make your life hell...'

I desperately looked back to Lady Irian for help out of this situation, the woman looking over at us in shock. It took her a moment to register the prince's words before she then opened her mouth.

"But your highness-"

Dante dragged me closer to him with a smile.

"Your input isn't needed lady Irian..." he told her as I felt every inch of my body break out in goosebumps. I was really going to die, there was no saving me anymore. I glanced back at the head maid, before jumping at her expression. The woman's face had become stony in defeat... Lady Irian then bowed her head.

"I see your highness..." she muttered... No... Lady Irian please, no... The woman then made a twirl, waving us both up in a sparkly retreat, knowing full well she was leaving me to be eaten by the wolves. "I respect your request, let me know if you have any further issues..." she spoke quietly as I screamed after her mentally. LADY IRIIAAAAAN!!! Please save me! Don't leave me alone with this person of all people, I'm begging you! I will sit through a thousand of your punishments! Is will go to prison! I will do both!!! Just please, don't walk away from this situation so sombrely as if you know that life is over for me!!

*****

I still hadn't gotten over the betrayal... but here I was hours later, now being summoned by the hellspawn himself through the small jingling of the bell on my wrist... apparently this bracelet was only used for trusted servants and bodyguards, to ring in emergencies. The bell was apparently run by some sort of magic... whenever the prince needed me, he'd speak a chosen name for me and the bell would magically ring...

'You'll respond to the nickname pig girl...'

I became rather cross recalling that final instruction he gave me upon explaining this concept to me. Why did I have to respond to such a humiliating nickname?!

"Is there any way I can get this thing off...?" I muttered, looking around the claspless bangle as Sana gave a stiff laugh from beside me.

"I don't think so..." she answered as I sighed, realising there wasn't really an out to this... it was then that Sana then clapped her hands slightly. "Oh but, in reality, this is actually a good thing! If you make a good impression on his highness from here on in, you will be able to get a promotion!" Sana noted as I didn't respond to this. Oh Sana, if only I could have your optimism... The jingling of the bell on my wrist continued as I stared at it, deciding to just suck it up... If he disliked me, why would he even try keeping me around more than I already had been...

Nonetheless, I now found myself stood before the prince's room, an uncertain expression upon my face. It seemed that he had sent every other maid, now locking himself in his room. There was another frightening boom of thunder that did not settle my nerves as I took a deep breath.

'Keep it together Annie, it's only one week of this and then you are free... just deal with it and become invisible the moment you are free...'

It was with this thought I knocked on the door of the large room, awaiting a reply...

However, none really came as I found myself waiting outside the door for a few moments, a look of puzzlement appearing on my face... it took me a few more moments of me waiting, before I went to knock upon the door again, fearing I hadn't knocked loud enough... when it was then that the wall beside me made a rumbling noise much to my surprise. From beside the door, a large chunk of the wall moved back, revealing a second entrance to the room, much to my surprise.... when it was then that Hugo of all people, peered his head around the door,

"Hello!"

Don't hello me!! You just came from a secret entrance from the wall!!

I pointed at the wall, sort of awestruck.

"Uhm... the door is... right there..." I noted, glancing to my right at the perfectly usable door to the side of us as Hugo blinked twice at me.

"Oh, we keep that door shut during times like these, so we use this one!" Hugo answered casually as I went a little pale. Hey, what do you mean 'during times like these'? Hugo then smiled at me, making a gesture for me to walk in to the door way. "Anyway, thank you for not keeping us waiting too long, please make your way through here!" He went on as I heavily hesitated on this suggestion. Seriously, what did you mean by 'during times like these'?

My inner questions wouldn't be answered though as I entered the doorway to the now very dark room, the overwhelming lack of light not really helping ease my nerves. It wasn't as though I could really voice these thoughts even if I wanted to... afterall... I stared at the cheerful boy in front of me, a wary look on my face. Despite how he looked, this boy could probably turn me into a piece of modern art if he wanted to... I didn't dare try to get on his bad side, he was as dangerous as the demon prince was...

"Mind your step miss, it's pretty dark..." he told me as I raised my eyebrow to this... That all being said, I didn't recall him being anything like this within the game Tyrant king... sure he was protective of Dante, but at least in the game, he wouldn't dare grapple a lady the way he floored me earlier... was it because I wasn't the main protagonist? The Hugo in the game was supposedly a gentle character with good will... but I questioned the gentleness and good will of a person who had no qualms with using wrestling moves on a young girl. My arms were still sore, along with my pride a little... maybe it was a good idea for me to learn some self defence?

"We're here, please just stand there..." Hugo gestured to the side of him, standing before what appeared to be blackout curtains considering there was a minute fragment of light peering through a gap between them. Feeling a little confused as to where this was heading, I did so and it was with my compliance that the curtains then swung open, revealing one of the windows in the prince's room. The light was momentarily blinding after being the dark for as long as we had been, but it was with a few blinks that I came to see... exactly the same scenery we always saw when we looked out the window.

I soundlessly looked out, expecting there to be some visual reason as to why I was called here to look out a window. I scanned my eyes across the rain soaked gardens and fields surrounding the manor, pondering if I was missing something... I couldn't see it though. I went to look back to Hugo to question why I was even brought here, however it would only be moments after I would come to regret this decision. Hugo held up an iron pole in hos hand with a smile on his face as I looked down to the pole blankly.

"This is a metal pole!" He stated as I nodded.

"Indeed it is..."

"Please take it!"

"Okay..." I took the metal pole and then paused, looking back to the ever unreadable smiley face that Hugo always seemed to don. "Uhm... why...?"

Hugo looked back outside.

"The reason we called you here is because his majesty said he was bored and wanted to be entertained!" Hugo noted as I looked back to the pole in my hands and narrowed my eyes. I didn't like what connotations entertainment and a metal pole would suggest. Hugo pointed at me "In fact I have been requested to relay this exact message from his majesty to you... since you are clearly incapable of doing chores like a maid, you should at least provide some sort of entertainment!" Hugo noted, almost with a glisten in his eyes and- hold up, what was that?! Since when was providing entertainment part of my quota?! I'm a maid, not a jester!! What did he mean by incapable too?! I had probably been more useful in the past two weeks I had been here than that prince had been in his entire life!! Hugo then pointed to a statue at the far end of the very large gardens outside. "His majesty wants you to take that metal pole with you to the statue over the there!" Hugo then told me as at first, I found myself even more perturbed by this request... I raised the metal pole slightly, inspecting it closely to see if there was anything special about it- why did I need to carry thus ti the statue? I was going to ask this question, this is until Hugo then pointed upon his head. "The one rule us that you have to have the metal pole held up to head height at all times" Hugo noted, only further my confusion even more, that was until...

KRACKA BOOM BOOM

My eyes widened at the flash of lightning that intercepted the darkness around us in the room, it being followed by a deafening roar of thunder, the connection starting to add up in my mind coming to the most terrifying realisation... I looked back down to the pole in my hands palely... and then back over to the statue that now appeared to be an overwhelmingly long distance away from me... I rigidly pointed up at my head the same way Hugo had done beforehand.

"At head height..." I double checked.

"At head height..." Hugo restated, my nerves not being at all calmed by the clarification. I choked out my words as I tried to comprehend this request and what it entailed...

"S-Sir... Sir Hugo... y-you do realise... that I could die right...?" I pointed out as Hugo kept his paint on smile on his face.

"That may be so but you aren't in the position to disobey his majesty's orders" Hugo replied as I found myself trying to object more.

"Y-yes... but I will actually be cooked alive before I get ther-"

"That's only potentially, if you refuse you most definitely will be cooked by his highness instead" Hugo cut in as I found all my arguments cast aside. I looked at the pole once more... before back to Hugo.

"S-Sir Hugo-"

"Miss Silverston, please don't make me have yo escort you to the door"

"Okay..."

I wearily stepped away from the window my minds drawing blanks, gripping the pole tightly in my hands as I could feel Hugo's eyes on the back of my head.

What...

WHAT THE HELL?!

I now stood at the open door of the manor house, a large wind blasting before the doorway as I looked outside tearfully, my body trembling. Now forgive me if I am wrong, but unless I was taught by an idiot, metal and electricity did not go along very well... and if my memory served even better it was highly not recommended to go waving anything remotely metal high up in the air of a storm of any kind, let alone a storm with the power of a small nuke packed into it. They were seriously expecting me to leave the safety of the manor to bring a large metal pole to some pointless statue, over my head in this storm?! This wasn't normal entertainment... this was a public execution!!! That prince... he knew he wouldn't be able to do any harm reasonably to me when the head maid go involved... so he decided if he couldn't outright sentence me to death he was gonna do it in the form of entertainment!!

The winds howled from before me, the rain slamming against the floor outside as there came another rumble of thunder... I felt a huge lump grow in my throat as I tightened my grip around the metal pole... so... that prince thought he could kill me off that easy, could he... I gave a shallow and nervous laugh as I proceeded to make sure my headband was firmly in place... when I looked back to the door with a fiery look in my eyes. Well I have bad news for that kid, it was gonna take alot more than this to have me killed off in this story!! I raised up the metal pole and took my first few steps forwards towards the door. I was gonna show him the determination of a girl who plans on living at least to her mid eighties, bring it on you snot nosed brat!!

****

"Ah I see her now, she's really gone out there, wow..." Hugo commented, looking out the window of a large and darkened room, staring at my valiant attempt to take the pole to the statue- in which valiancy involved my graceful stride out the door turning into a panicked and desperate run... Hugo kinda gave a strained smile upon watching me, before his eyes glanced back. "Though aren't you going to try watch this, you did say it was because you wanted to be entertained..." Hugo pointed out to the figure that sat down in the corner of the room upon another lounger, this figure being Dante who sat reading a book against the light of a flame caused by his free hand.

"I'm currently reading, it's alot more interesting than watching her stupidity at play..." Dante replied placidly as Hugo could only give a stiff laugh to this reply...

"I understand that you were annoyed... but don't you think something like this is taking it too far, even for you, your highness...?"

"Is there any reason why I should think this is too far?" Dante asked as coldly as ever as Hugo took a deep breath, giving a concerned expression.

"Well... how to put it... you usually don't even bother to punish the maids yourself when the head maid usually does it for you... plus this wasn't really her fault..." Hugo then noted as at first Dante didn't seem to react to such a thing being pointed out to him... When it was then that the young prince simply rolled over, giving a frown.

"Her face irritates me... that's why..." Dante replied emptily as Hugo nodded to this with as normal a smile as ever.

"Uhuh...." he gave an affirmation to this... he didn't understand what on earth that meant at all...

'I don't envy that maids position, even if this is a little interesting...' he thought to himself, turning his attention back go the window, his eyes lighting up a little...

"Ah, somehow she made it!" He exclaimed!!

******

Ah yes, indeed, somehow I had as I found myself shakily trudging my way back to the inside of the manor house, now drenched by the rain fall and completely windswept. The winds were terrifying, despite how secure the manor house seemed, I almost got blown away various times; what was worse was I swear I even saw the metal pole in my hand start to spark. If I hadn't have ran to the statue, who knew what could have happened. Say, why did I do that? I could have really died... that was a genuinely dangerous experience I just went through.... I had only been outside for at most five or six minutes, but the exhaustion of my body would indicate I had been out for hours. All I wanted to do was to hide and sleep away...

Unfortunately, just as I seemed to be considering such a a thing as an option, it seemed that my tiring moments had only just begun as it was with a few claps that Hugo appeared from behind the door.

"Honestly, I have to say, I'm impressed, I really thought you was going to die out there Miss Silverston..." Hugo told me with a rosy beam that contrasted with that of my bewildered and tired expression. You know, I'd appreciate if you didn't so easily place your bets on my dying that quick... Hugo then kept his hands together after a final clap. "That was quite entertaining! Though this is far from over. So long as that bangle is on your wrist you'll be required to do whatever his highness asks!" Hugo noted as I then flashed a stern expression up to him, expecting that this was going to lead go this.

"If it is anything lethal like that again then I politely refuse Sir, I have much more respect for my life than this!!" I decided to take a stand against this nonsense once and for all. Just because he was a prince, it didn't mean he could force me to do such dangerous tasks for the sheer point of it. Hugo simply tilted his head at me.

"I'm afraid you can't refuse to obey..." Hugo answered as I backed away from him.

"You can try to attack me if you like but I won't be swayed easy!!" I restated which was a complete lie. I was just hoping that my bluffing might hold some weight now that I had actually gone and done something so dangerous. Hugo seemed to give a more awkward expression on his face, shaking his head to me.

"I don't mean that, I mean you physically cannot disobey..." Hugo reworded himself, his statement drawing my attention as he signalled to the bangle on my wrist. "That device is made to explode it it's wearer disobeys the commanders orders..." Hugo pointed out as my mind drew a blank to the sudden shock of this statement.

Wait... what...?

"The reason why this bangle is given to trusted servants and employee's is because it is expected that they can be trusted to carry out an order no matter what. If the person breaks that trust, then they receive a severe punishment for it, which is mostly the bangle exploding..." Hugo went on to explain to me exactly why there was a need to make an explosive into a bracelet, but honestly, his logic just wasn't clicking in, I mean- HE PUT A BOMB ON ME!!! I looked back to the young boy before me with an ashen expression, only imagining how terrifyingly wide my eyes must have been looking.

"Hey, you gotta get this thing off me..." I asked him simply, my fear causing me to forget to use any formalities as Hugo gave a stiff smile as he shook his head.

"Sorry, I can't..."

I didn't know why I expected any different, but in hindsight, coming to terms with the fact that I was now a living stick of dynamite, didn't particularly put me in the mind set where I could think about things logically like that, much rather in this instance, my mind was having a complete meltdown. I placed my hand to my head. I was planning on living past seventeen but in all honesty if the prince or this device on my wrist didn't kill me before that point, then the stress would... Hugo saw that I was I was distressed and it seemed as though for a moment he had something to say to me...

However, it had seemed that I had finally hit breaking point, a shallow laugh coming out my mouth. I had only come to this world for a few weeks now and I was already pretty much in a life or death situation, are you kidding me...?

"Miss... Miss Silverston...?" Hugo gave me a curious expression as I then cut in.

"I understand, bring it on then..." I answered as Hugo's face only seemed to read more confusion upon it.

"Eeeeh..." He uttered in lethargic puzzlement as I shook the wrist that had the bangle upon it, the bell on the bangle chiming slightly as I gave Hugo a intense expression.

"I'll do that prince's trials, so bring it on!!" I restated, my rational deciding to go on a vacation whilst my brain had broken down. It was just one week... one week where I had to endure this and then I could go back to living a life where I did my best to avoid this demon of a prince for the rest of both of our days. I couldn't run or avoid the issue so my only option was to face everything head on, and that wad exactly what I was going to do. There was a loud rumble of thunder outside as I found my resolve to this situation, Hugo staring at me in mild surprise. I was NOT going to let some spoiled no good kid, try to kill me off or lead my life to ruin along with his! No, I was going to show him the terrifying capabilities of a person who desperately just wants nothing at all in the slightest to do with him. He may have me strapped to a bomb, however no bomb was any match for my resolution to live to the age where I could break my hip simply by sneezing, bring it on you toyal twerp! Throw everything you've got at me! I spent my entire past life awaiting death round the corner, I am not that easily broken a soul!!

Dearest mother and father in another world,

In my past life, I couldn't do much to defend myself! However just you watch, I'll make a show of it in this one!

Later that evening I burst through into the maids quarters, pondering over to Sana tearfully as she made her bed for the night.

"Sana, this bracelets actually a booo~mmb" I sobbed as Sana dropped her pillow in shock-

"Eeeeeh?!"

Well I'll try to, anyways...
