Chapter 8:
My EX-Love Story
I winced. The pain was sudden and astonishing. I wriggled under his grasp but he had pinned me to the bed and his knee was on my thigh. I lay under him, staring at the ceiling, breathing quickly.
I was unable to move and a tear fell out of my eye.
Reese’s hair brushed against my cheek and I closed my eyes. My face had a pained expression. I could hear the sound of sucking and I could feel every millilitre of blood which he took in.
Vampire.
He was a vampire.
The feeling was…mixed.
It was pain, so much pain. It felt as if someone had stuck needles into my body, and every suck brought more pain.
I groaned.
But he didn’t stop.
He kept sucking my blood right out of my neck.
His eyes were closed and it seemed as if he was fighting himself. At least that’s what I told myself.
I felt powerless, right there.
“Reese, please. Stop.” I begged as I tried to move.
At that, Reese pulled back and sat up.
His lips were red.
Pure red and wet.
He looked away as tears fell out of my eyes.
I was so scared.
My bones trembling.
My muscles shaking.
I sobbed out loud.
Reese’s eyes widened in alarm as he finally turned to me and locked his guilty eyes with my terrified ones.
A vampire.
He was a vampire.
Those words continuously repeated themselves in my mind as Reese mournfully watched my cry. He didn’t even comfort me, or apologize. He just stared at me. I turned around to face the wall and sobbed to myself in a corner.
‘It’s night now.’ I just realized.
After a while, I felt a hand gently touch my shoulder. I flinched at touch.
“You never were open to touch…but now…” Reese’s voice sounded sad and apologetic, as if he was regretting everything.
He gently held my hand and turned me to face him. He lay down in front of me and looked sincerely into my eyes.
“Do you hate me now?”
He had a pitiful expression on his face, he looked like a lost puppy.
I looked at him through my teary eyes.
I shook my head,
I didn’t hate him.
Of course I didn’t hate him.
He closed his eyes and his worry vanished almost as if he was relieved that I didn’t hate him, that I still loved him.
“Well then…” He ran his hand through his hair and gazed at me, “Are you afraid of me now?”
His voice had the same amusement.
He had gone back to normal.
I stayed silent.
He kissed his teeth and gently stroked my hair.
“You don’t have to lie. Tell me the truth, Amy. Are. You. Afraid. Of. Me?” He repeated his question more forcefully this time.
“A little.” I managed to breathe out.
“I told you not to lie, didn’t I?” he sighed and shook his head and frowned, “My, my, what a naughty little girl you are.”
I was shocked at his words and tone, he had never used that with me. Then he shot me a playful smirk and only then could I tell that he was mocking me. Why did he love to mock and tease me at suck critical moments?
“You are very afraid of me, aren’t you?”
He said that as if he wouldn’t hurt me ever again…as if I didn’t need to be afraid of him.
“Fine, I won’t suck your blood.” He decided after a moment.
I had not expected that.
“B-B-But don’t vampires need blood?” I asked.
“They do.” He replied plainly.
“Then whose blood will you take?”
“Random girls.” He shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal at all.
“But….then you’d be cheating on me.” I scowled and didn’t hesitate to show my displeasure.
“Gosh Amy, stop being so damn difficult! You don’t want me to suck your blood, now you don’t want me to suck anyone else’s blood either? What the hell do you want me to do, huh?” He yelled, irritated and angry.
“I never said I didn’t want you to suck my blood.” I said quietly.
The feelings had been mixed- pain- but also pleasure.
He sat up and looked at with surprise for a second as I blushed. Then he smirked.
“Oh…so you want me all to yourself, huh.” He gently stroked my cheek.
“What a selfish little idiot you are…”
I closed my eyes and let his hand sooth me. I craved for his touch more than anything else.
“But you’re my little idiot.”
He gently leaned in, and his wet, bloody lips came in contact of mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
I didn’t care if he was a vampire.
He slowly opened the first button of my nightie.
Then the second one.
My heart stopped and I squeezed my eyes shut.
I thought that he would strip me, but instead he pulled the flap aside to get a better shot at my collarbone. He was about to suck my blood again.
He opened his mouth and I heard him sharply inhale, he brought his face close but then he stopped.
He closed his eyes and pulled back.
“I think that was enough for one day. What should we do now?” He asked,
I shrugged.
“Are you a pure blood?” I then inquired.
He laughed, just like he always laughed.
“Yep. I’m one of the strongest vampire here on Earth.” He answered me in a light-hearted tone.
“Then…won’t I turn into a vampire?!”
He laughed again.
“Nah! That’s not really how it works. There are special conditions for a human to turn into a vampire from a vampire’s bite.”
“Thank god.” I said in relief.
“Though…If you wanna turn into a vampire, then that’s a different story.” He had a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“I think I’ll pass.”
We both laughed.
What the hell was wrong with me?
He dropped a bombshell on me so why was I accepting it so easily?
Why was I accepting him so easily????
The answer was simple; I was selfish, and I wanted him…
But for how long would I have him?
And what other secrets did he have?
We lay there for about half an hour, after that he got up.
His room was on the second floor, and it overlooked the lake behind the house. The house had 2 large, well looked after gardens. The Silver family also happened to own a diamond mining company, a gold mining company, a jewellery store and they were also some of the most popular mafia lords in the underworld.
He walked barefoot to the balcony door and went outside. The navy blue curtains of his room were flying, in the balcony, he was leaning forward, his arms resting on the railing. A white whirl of smoke escaped his mouth. I got up too, because I was bored and I generally wanted to be with him. I opened the balcony door and closed my eyes as it closed with a thud behind me.
He stood up straight and shot me a smirk, with his head tilted.
I walked to him and we both leaned forward with our arms resting on the railing, gazing at the starry night.
He brought the cigarette to his mouth and then pulled it back.
He offered it to me without looking at me.
“Oh no, I don’t smoke.” I refused.
“Don’t, or haven’t?” He asked, turning sideways to face me.
“Uh…both?” I offered with a shrug, he laughed and shook his head.
His hair flying with the wind.
“Do this one for me.”
He brought the cigarette to my mouth and I caught it in between of my teeth. He held it as I inhaled. The taste was bitter but it felt good, to just stand there on a windy, starry night with the boy of your dreams smoking a cigarette.
I coughed, taken aback from the sudden pain I felt in my chest.
Reese laughed and patted me on the back as I bent forward and threw a coughing fit.
“Now.” I gasped after the coughing stop, “I can say that I have smoked but I don’t!” I gave Reese a triumphant grin and he just gazed at me with a small smile on his face.
“I just can’t get over how cute you are.”
I looked away, my whole face turning red.
He just smiled and pushed his hands into his pocket.
“It’s a beautiful night.” He sat down on the floor and looked up at the sky.
“Huh? Oh, yeah.” I sat down with him and rested my head on his shoulder as we watched the glistening water of the lake.
