Chapter 10:

Chapter 10: Bionic Tyrant

MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: United by Destiny

“This is Snake Eyes to Viper One, I repeat Snake Eyes to Viper One. We’re nearing the coordinates for the drop. Do you wish to proceed?” The helicopter pilot radioed.

“Affirmative, drop the pod then disengage the locks…” Wesker replied.

“Copy that Viper One!”

Upon receiving their orders a drop pod was dropped from the helicopter’s winch. As the pod descended it gained in speed, becoming almost meteoric flew downward through the night sky. As the hot metal hit the ground the door to it was dislodged. From the darkness of the pod were glowing red eyes as a bionic hand covered in a dank ooze emerged.

Off in the distance, walking in the cool night air was Chris, X-23, and Rocket. Having emerged victorious against Jill, Firebrand, and the cartoonish undead onslaught. Chris still overwhelmed by the situation. Several thoughts running through his mind such as What were those zombies? What’d they do to Logan and Rocket? and thoughts of his partner. Jill… Are you working for Umbrella?

“Chris?”

Chris snapped out of his train of thought. “Uh… yes?”

“Are you okay?” X-23 asked.

“Er… yeah, mostly. Thanks Logan.”

Rocket then jumped ahead of the trio. “HA! OKAY? Man’s been face deep in a pile of weird crap, taking a big whiff since all this weird crap started up! Now me, I’m used to weird crap, and I’m willing to bet so are you.” Rocket said to X-23.

“I suppose so…” She answered.

“Guys I’m fine. Really.” Chris said in attempt to reassure them.

And the truth of the matter was that Chris was fine. He’s fine, but he feels sorrow. Sorrow for his allies such as X-23 herself, Rocket, and of course… Jill. They were the victims. The ones who Chris felt he needed to protect. As for all the strange oddities happening around him? Well let’s just say Chris was no stranger to strange. Having survived an exploding mansion with a monster infested underground lab, Investigated an evil corporation in Europe, and assisted his sister in the destruction of a giant hive queen on an arctic base.

As they continued walking Chris started to get this sinking feeling about his new comrades. It sank farther and farther until he could no longer stand it and had to let it go. It was then that Chris suddenly stopped walking.

“Chris. What’s wrong?”

“AH I TOLD YA! HE’S FLARKING LOSING IT!” Rocket roared.

X-23 approached Chris. “Hey… don’t tell me you’re feeling under the weather?” X-23 asked feeling genuine concern for her new friend.

“I’m… I’m sorry. But I have to ask.”

“Ask about what?”

Chris gulped. “The experiments.” Chris said plainly as X-23’s blood grew cold.

“How… how did you know about those?” X-23 said, scared and confused.

“Wait!? You were experimented on too?” Rocket asked X-23 as she grew so uncomfortable that she covered her tattoo/serial number with her hand in discomfort.

It was as Chris was getting ready to probe them about what Umbrella had done to them that a pair of glowing eyes took notice of them through the darkness. Immediately identifying Chris Redfield as his primary target. The Bionic Tyrant, formerly the proud soldier Rad Spencer. The Bionic Commando prepared his Bionic Arm for attack. However this wasn’t the same Bionic Commando you know. This newly dubbed Bionic Tyrant was a B.O.W. He was 1.5x larger and both stronger and faster than before.

He was covered in a black and brown dripping ooze that wriggled and wrapped his body like it was alive. This same ooze covered his mouth. As the Bionic Tyrant started heaving he was building up a reserve of this sticky substance. In the moment following he’d unleash it.

Rocket repositioned himself nervously around Chris. “Who are you humie!? How could you possibly know about what they did to me!?” Rocket asked in angry bewilderment.

“…” X-23 was still shivering at the thought. Chris took notice and wanted to reassure them of his intentions in the matter.

“Look I just think it talking about might help you put it behind you guys!” He said trying to win them over, but it was to no avail.

“Nuh-uh!” Rocket yelled as he crossed his arms into the shape of an X. “There is no way I’m ripping that band-aid off!”

“But… How about you Logan?” Chris asked desperately, only wanting to help.

“I don’t know…” She said as she shied away. “It isn’t something I relish to talk about.”

“Look pal! We don’t want to talk about it- OW! AHHH!”

Rocket was cut off midsentence as a large ball of goo cannonballed right into him. Rocket went flying and was pinned to a tree, mouth covered by the writhing goo as he struggled to scream out for help.

“ROCKET!” Chris yelled as he frantically aimed his M16.

“Watch out Chris!” X-23 screamed as she pushed Chris out of the way.

In that moment X-23 bore her claws, but it was no use. The goo had gotten her, and she was pinned up to a tree right along with Rocket. Struggling to get free while slicing away with her claws. However this did little, as every little bit of this organic substance she slashed would simply repair itself.

“LOGAN! Damn you! Show yourself now!” Chris demanded.

Chris now having a good idea of the assailants location aimed his weapon in its direction. But what emerged from the shadows both would and wouldn’t shock him. For when the Bionic Tyrant would show himself, Chris’ suspicion of a B.O.W would be confirmed, but it was an unknown type BIO ORGANIC WEAPON.

“What the hell?” Chris questioned. “It… it sort of looks like a tyrant…”

“GRRR!!!” The creature roared.

The Bionic Tyrant charged as Chris began shooting. His shots having no affect as the creature’s writhing body simply consumed the shots on impact. No way! Chris thought as he unloaded an entire clip. As Chris was reloading the Tyrant shot his Bionic arm towards him. Chris side swiped avoiding a direct impact, but what he didn’t see was the bushel that the Bionic Tyrant had grappled onto. As the Bionic Tyrant pulled himself forward he kneed Chris in the stomach as Chris flew back into a rock.

“AHH!” Chris cried out in pain upon impact.

Chris then pulled out his M9 and aimed for the head. The Bionic Tyrant charged again as POW! POW! POW! Chris unleashed several handgun rounds into its head stunning it! But there was no time to celebrate even the small victories as the Tyrant was already back on the prowl. The bullet wounds in his oozing head repairing themselves and closing up.

“Damn! Bullets won’t work!” Chris yelled as he pulled out his Stun Rod and activated it as a large hot electrical current began running through it. “Try this on for size!”

As the Tyrant got closer Chris slashed with his Stun Rod as it seared the creature’s shoulder. Chris was elated. It worked! At least a little bit as he noticed the B.O.Ws body was having a hard time repairing itself. So it’s heat huh? Chris reached down for an incendiary grenade. The Bionic Tyrant took notice of this he used his mutated Bionic arm to smack Chris into a bush as Chris fought desperately to hold onto the grenade.

“Eat this!” Chris yelled from inside the bush.

Chris then pulled the pin to the incendiary grenade and threw it at the Tyrant, but the Tyrant was up to his scheme. He swatted the grenade back at Chris as the bush he had landed in lit up in flames! Chris’ arm getting singed from his close proximity to the fire. Darn! Only one incendiary left!

“Chris! Above him!” X-23 shouted.

Chris looked back at the Tyrant and then above his head. A large leaf covered branch was resting there. At first Chris didn’t know what to make of X-23’s advice until he remembered the burning bushel. Of course! Chris had a moment of EUREKA as he aimed his M16 at the branch and fired. The bullets shredded the branch as his precise aim allowed it to fall onto the Bionic Tyrant, trapping it as it roared. And before it could escape Chris pulled the pin to the incendiary with his teeth and lobbed it at the beast.

“Hope you like barbeque…” Chris quietly quipped as the Tyrant went up in flames.

As the creature died, the living matter that was holding X-23 and Rocket in place eroded with it as they were freed, Rocket’s mouth finally uncovered. As Rocket stood up he chocked and spit in disgust.

“BLEH! GROSS!”

Chris put away his weapon, relieved to see they were alright. “Thank God!”

X-23 ran in and gave Chris a hug. Chris recoiled in surprise, and before he could decipher what had happened she had let go. Now walking over to the charred remains of the terror that lay twitching on the ground.

“What is this thing?” She asked as Chris explained.

“It appears to be a Bioweapon developed by Umbrella. The same pharmaceutical company that experimented on the two of you.”

Um… Umbrella?” X-23 said puzzled. “I was never experimented on by an Umbrella.”

Chris was shocked. “What but you were on the tanker? You said you wer-”

Rocket cut him off. “No Earth company experimented on me neither!”

“…” Chris rubbed his head; he couldn’t believe it. “But you both said you were experimented on, I just assumed it was Umbrella.”

“Hilarious! You guessed?” Rocket roared.

“Yes… I guess so. It was educated!” Chris said in defense of his assumption.

X-23 grabbed Chris’ shoulder. “Chris I don’t know how I got on that Tanker, but it wasn’t Umbrella who put me there. One moment I was running through the city from the Sentinels and then the next… poof! I was on that boat.”

“Yeah same! I was flying through the galaxy with my crew and then BLAMO! I was washing up on the beach shortly after.”

Chris was so confused he didn’t even have time to process the part about flying through the galaxy. Suddenly nothing made sense. What could have previously been explained away as an Umbrella experiment was suddenly not so simple. Wait. Where are these guys from then? And what does Jill, and Umbrella have to do with all this?

Chris stood there weighing on what was going on as X-23 did her best to comfort the man. Rocket laughing on in the background at the pure insanity of it all. Not a single one of them knew exactly what was going on here. All they knew was they had to keep moving.
