Chapter 18: ULTIMATE ALLIANCE & The Alliance

(MOMENTS BEFORE THE COUNTERATTACK)

“We’re almost there.” Nilin said, notifying Chris and the others.

After having hitched a ride from a BSAA helicopter Chris, X-23, and Rocket had accompanied Nilin and Wolverine to the indominable fortress of The Alliance. Their mission as described by Nilin was to infiltrate the enemy fortress and disable the newly christened and heavily invested in Hydra Sentinels. But almost as important as that was their secondary objective. Capture Magneto.

“So along with disabling these mechanical nightmares, we also have to capture some old man that controls metal? Why not just capture him and make him crush those robos into tiny cubes?” Rocket asked.

“You obviously haven’t met Magneto bub! He ain’t one for cooperating.” Wolverine said. “He’s not to be trusted, even if you think he’s got your backside.”

“Wolverine is right. And it is imperative that we capture him and get him out of the picture. I regret to say this but as it stands now we’re in very little shape to take on Magneto. It’s going to fall on you and Redfield to actually take Magneto down. And Chris…”

“Yeah?”

“No Guns, Knives, and Grenades. Hell while you’re at it you need to remove your belt. For now you should only use your stun rod.”

“Right… master of magnetism. Great…” Chris replied.

I think I preferred monsters running amok in the Spencer Mansion. At least then I had my Samurai Edge. And Jill to watch my back… (Imagine this Chris is from a universe where he actually got to fight alongside Jill in the first Resident Evil game) I’ve got to help her!

“Rocket I’ve got a slingshot for you. So no gun’s for you either.”

“Bwah! That’s BS lady. Have you seen little old me? I need big guns to overcompensate!” Rocket said as he aimed down the barrel of Chris’ M16.

In that moment Nilin knew that Rocket was a persistent one. But with this slingshot she had, she’d hoped to change his mind. She then picked up the slingshot and loaded a simple pebble into it. Then with the pull of a sling, and a loaded pebble she unleashed it’s wrath into the interior of the helicopter. The impact having left a decent dent in solid steel. Rocket’s ears perked up at the sound of stone clashing with steel.

“WOW” Rocket grabbed the slingshot. “Alright, alright. So simple yet fairly destructive!” Rocket gleefully observed as he examined the shot while stroking his chin whiskers.

Wolverine looked over at X-23, who’d been suspiciously quiet throughout all this.

“You okay Laura?” Wolverine asked.

“Yeah. I just feel like we won’t be much use against Magneto is all.” She said bluntly. Chris taking note of this concern of hers leaned in to reassure her.

“Don’t worry Lo- Err I mean Laura. Me and Rocket will take care of that guy. You’ve got the strength to get us there. So just focus on that.” He said with a smile, and she felt a little at ease. She’d forgotten that Redfield had been her ROCK through all this. And she tried to keep in mind that he was no mere man. Having made a career out of fighting monsters.

Having been dropped off half a mile away from the fortress, Nilin awaited the Captain’s orders.

(BACK ON THE ULTIMATE ALLIANCE AIRSHIP)

Having narrowly escape The Alliance’s forces, Dante and crew had found their way onto the airship that served as the tactical base for the ULTIMATE ALLIANCE. As Dante leaned over that handlebars of his motorcycle Cavalier gasping. He looked up and saw Iron-Man shaking hands with an especially patriotic looking fellow. Captain America.

“Thanks for the save Cap.” Tony said.

“No problem. I’m just glad you’re here. Now we can get our assault underway properly. Without you and the Wasp we were worried we didn’t have enough air support for lack of a better phrase.” Captain America then addressed Morrigan directly. “And judging by the wings, I’m going to guess you know your way around an aerial tussle. It’s nice to meet you.” He said as he shook Morrigan’s hand.

Morrigan squinted her eyes and very visible looked the Captain up and down. “My, oh my. You’re universe has a lot of strapping young men doesn’t it. And this one seems quite chivalrous!”

Captain America blushed. “Yeah well um… anyway, I’m glad you’re all here. I thought our best fly guy was going to be this hotshot.” Cap said as he deflected the conversation and pointed out Starlord (Guardians of the Galaxy), better known as Peter Quill.

“Hey!” Peter Quill who’d mostly been listening to the iPod that Cap lent him up until then heard the dis. “At least my music tastes are good. Have you listened your Walkman?”

Captain America corrected him. “iPod.”

“Walkpod! Whatever. It’s all classical garbage. What’re you an old man? You need some more modern music like Billy Joel or Tears for Fears!” He said as he walked closer, noticing the passed out Drax on the floor.

“What the!? Drax!” He yelled as a grey muscle bound man pushed through the crowd of heroes.

“What Peter? You called for me!” Drax was then frozen in place at the sight. “Wow! What a specimen.”

“Weird right?” Peter said as he and Drax observed his doppelganger laying face down on the floor.

“It’s like when looking in a mirror… if I could out of my ass.” Drax said with the most serious face you could imagine. “Although I think he’s a little fatter.”

Peter looked Drax up and down like Morrigan had for the Captain. He decided not to say anything.

“I Am Groot?” Groot One said.

“I Am Groot!” Groot Two said.

(One Groot from the Guardians Universe, and one from that of the Avengers)

“Yeah that proves our doppelganger theory.” Peter Quill said.

Dante who’d been taking this all in wasn’t the only one confused. Ryu and Chun-Li had woken up and were just as perplexed by it all. An airship full of costumed heroes, doppelgangers, and just the overall fact that they were still alive. It was a lot to take in.

“Things just keep getting weirder and weirder huh Dante?” Trish asked.

“You could say that… though when has our lives been simple and easy to understand?” He said as they smirked at each other.

Iron-Man looking at Dante then introduced him to Captain America, and informed him of his brush with the Dark Phoenix as well as how powerful he was. The Captain was impressed. Dante thanked him and the other heroes. After a few pleasantries, such as Ryu shaking hands with Cyclops, and Arthur (Ghosts n’ Goblins) and Thor (The Avengers) admired Dante’s sword Rebellion. They knew it was time to get down to business.

After all with War Machine and Gamora captured, The death of The Falcon, and HULK and Spider-Man MIA, they’d be at a disadvantage. So Captain America basically explained to the “new recruits” that they’d be launching an assault on the fortress within the next few hours while a covert team infiltrated to disable the Hydra Sentinels. With that info our heroes decided to take those few hours to rest up.

“Hey Iron-Man!” Morrigan said Tony swung himself around. “I almost forgot to give this to you!” She yelled as she leapt up and kissed him. Though initially surprised, Tony leaned in while grabbing her waist and gave it all he got.

Next thing he knew, she’d pulled him into a bedroom he’d been appointed to rest up. And needless to say but… R&R ensued.

All the other heroes were getting ready too. They had to be ready for the attack. Luckily it wasn’t just a small crew on a suicide mission. With Avengers like Black Panther, Hawkeye, Thor, and Scarlet Witch. X-Men like Cyclops, Beast, Nightcrawler, Gambit and Rogue. As well as various heroes from various different Capcom universes. Arthur, Strider Hiryu (Strider), Carlos Olivera (Resident Evil), Mike Haggar (Final Fight), X and Zero whom Dante and Trish had a chance to apologize to. And lastly Samanosuke Akechi (Onimusha), A powerful samurai experienced with hunting Oni.

And more

A true dream team. And they’d need to be. Because The Alliance was preparing for an attack. And they were pulling out all the stops.

“Soldiers! We are facing a powerful adversary. One capable of even toppling the might of the Dark Phoenix!” Magneto beckoned as he spoke to his fellow villains.

With order taking precedent over their chaotic nature. Many notable villains stood in a salute. Demitri, Jedah (Darkstalkers), Vergil, Loki, Wesker, Sigma, Seth (Now in his Street Fighter V iteration after modifications made by Juri and Sigma). And under these fellow commanders were many subordinates. Horace Belger and his Mad Gear Gang, Abigail and Hugo (Street Fighter/Final Fight), Nemesis, Barry Burton and Jill Valentine (Both under mind control), Toad and Juggernaut (X-Men), Bullseye (DareDevil), MODOK, and Ronan the Accuser to name a few.

“So be on your guard.” Magneto then shared a look with Red Skull. “Because they will attack again. And they’ll try to take our metal army away from us! But we won’t let them will we!?”

“NO!” They all yelled while giving Hydra salutes.

Dark Phoenix standing behind him. Doubt beginning to set in as Jean Grey slowly but surely began to regain control of her body.
