Chapter 7:

I love you

One Last Chance

He kept hopping due to his broken leg, clutching the two wet pieces of paper in his hand. Didn’t dare look back. If he did, all the memories he had with her would die with him. This was the last piece of the puzzle. He has to keep going, for her. There was only one thought racing through his mind, one which he immensely regrets, but just maybe, one which caused him to have the most extraordinary and magical moments in his life.

It was nice to meet you, Karma.’

He still kept running through the ghosted forest, his stamina extinguished at this point, he fell beneath a tree on top of a hill. It was the same tree where it all started. The blue rose in the clear vase, the moon beaming its brilliant light down from the leaves and the broken vase with the red rose. However, now it was just a withered red rose and the vase was not to be found. He could now see, barely through his blurry vision, the final piece she wrote him. It was under the tree the whole time. He took it and attached the final piece into the rest…

There is only one thing I really need from you… this will be your
last chance.
Find him. Kill him.
If you do this for me, our endless misery will finally be over.
I promise you after this that I will...

...forgive you for all the times you had caused your sin.
Remember it’s not your fault.
I will always ignore this sin you’ve done because it won’t matter
any more once you’ve finished what him had started.
I did my part. But now its time for you to do yours.
After all, there is nothing that can separate us...

...I love you

‘So, you finally did it didn’t you.’

Karma was startled. He saw the same beautiful girl he had met countless times. The same girl who he had just saved.

‘Oh, it's you,' Karma hugged her, 'I did it, Rena. You are free now. We can be together now.’

‘I would love to. But… I’m afraid there’s one more thing to do’

‘What’s that?’

Rena looked worried and handed him a gun.

‘Why do I need this?’, Karma seemed confused

‘Karma, this universe won’t end unless I die here.'

Broken, wounded, scarred... Karma couldn't take anymore.

'I want to start a new and better one with you. So please Karma...'

Rena... please don't say it...

'You have to kill me here.’

‘What?! No. How could I… I can’t see you die once again,’ Karma protested.

Rena leaned forward, ‘Well, I’m used to dying now.’

Karma looked down at her. There was a moment of silence before she gave Karma the happiest, most joy-filled smile he has ever seen. A smile, which Karma wished lasted a lifetime.

‘Its alright Karma. I swear I’ll be with you forever once we meet next time.’

He stared into her eyes. He closed his eyes, stood up with all the might he had, and held the gun point blank.

Rena smiled again, ‘It was nice to meet you, Karma.’

There was a gunshot…

Karma fell to the ground, lost all the will to live. Tears wanted to drool down his eyes into his cheeks, but how could they when he has run out of tears?

He stood up, reloaded the gun. The final words she told him buzzing through his empty mind. He recoiled the trigger, placed the gun on his right sideburn. He looked at Rena’s corpse one more time.

‘The next time I wake up, it better be a good life’

BANG! … and the sound was no more.
