I, your Overseer that had watched you for many centuries, have recognised your efforts to the cause. It's an unpaid labour, but the reward for doing the reasonable is better than heaven.

You have seen the advancements human society have made. The steps we took at each year.

It is YOU who re-established supply lines.

YOU who raised the next generation to protect both themselves and Exorcists in times of peril.

We've grown so much…

We, humanity, have come a long way.

Before the First Eruption, we humans had lived in a restless calm. We had the freedom to fight, but not a purpose to serve. Many found meaning in the Holy Doctrine, and peace in knowing the afterlife.

It's only when that very same 'afterlife' came for our lives did we realise the flaws of superstitions.

Corruption had bred in the marrow of the once pure Holy Doctrine. Fools were given power.

They ruined your lives and made you into bait.

All so they could protect their cushy positions…!

You are the masters of your lives, and to be honest… I despised you all for sacrificing freedom.

Becoming ants following a will that isn't your own.

But look at how you all have grown.

I see many doctors, teachers, firefighters, drivers, soldiers, policemen, and politicians among you all.

All of you more courageous than even the Demon Hunters protecting you. Running this great society.

Where would we be without you all?

As many of you know, this is the third Grand Cycle of destruction. This wasn't our first look at beings known as 'Calamities'… but what many of you might not know was the difficulties of the initial disaster.

This episode Theory Radio shall be dedicated to that. Listen in, as we are about to dive in deep.

To a long forgotten past…

In the Dark Ages, humanity fought itself over lands and riches. Trying hard to dominate each other.

But there were two distinct nations that stood out in those disorderly times filled with suspicion.

The first was the Valkcry Empire, which is now only known by the sandy remains of Valkcry Ruins.

And the second was the Drakeyol Kingdom.

Never heard of this state? That's fair… After all, it is this kingdom that manipulated the history books.

Sounds scary, doesn't it?

You all must be thinking that there's some evil force that is manipulating history from my words.

Hehe~ Sorry, I was just messing with you all.

Drakeyol Kingdom is no longer a 'kingdom' anymore, because it had truly conquered Gaia.

All of you could be considered citizens of the Drakeyol Kingdom of the past. Believe it or not.

Your affinity to the 'Light Attribute' is clear proof of that. Having an Affinity in the past was impossible.

Because normally, Humans only had Life Energy.

They couldn't control it as well as we do now back then. No technology. No Gifts. Only techniques.

Using Formulas and other arcane methods.

Drakeyol Kingdom was once home to Mages using Formulas, and they were despised by many.

It was because people of this kingdom were incapable of learning Mystic Arts like the rest of the world. Especially the Valkcry Empire, which had been expanding its power manically with wars.

Spurring the people of Drakeyol into action.

They attacked the Valkcry Empire first despite the difference in strength and won using an ambush.

Maybe that makes being their descendants sound bad, but I believe it was a truly justified action.

War was never so 'peaceful'.

The only thing they couldn't have imagined was the fall of Valkcry would give birth to the first 'Dragon'.

A being we now collectively call the 'World Dragon'.

He was the perpetrator of these Grand Cycles and had tried to wipe out humanity more than once.

It was only thanks to the 13 Graces we survived.

Those pioneers of the technology we use to this day. All who'd given their lives to protect Gaia.

Limiters, Inverter Tools like Colour Weapons used by Exorcists, and technology to create Macros.

What didn't they create?

They saved us from the first Grand Cycle and gave us the ability to protect ourselves from Demons.

I hope you all never forget that.

Although the First Eruption of the current Grand Cycle have took many from us, we will not lose.

The sacrifices made shall not be in vain.

I know many of you have lost your hearts after the much more recent Second Eruption. An entire half of the world’s populace died, and we had to scramble to re-establish supply routes until now.

It was why I’d sent my students out with the latest of Miasma Purifiers to support and protect you.

You might not be able to believe this, but I have come across a discovery that could end humanity’s suffering once and for all. Create domes strong enough make every area a haven like New Faustus.

The details will be kept as a surprise, but don’t think I’m only saying these words to please you.

This shall be the last Grand Cycle.

Nether Demons may break our hearts, but our reason shall prevail in the end and destroy them.

We have defeated a disastrous being powered by five Calamity Gems. Thus defeating five Eruptions at once. It was an unprecedented misfortune, but know that we were victorious in our decisive battle.

Humanity prevailed against the odds!

And we shall continue to do so.

Starshine Academy will be entering a new phase f development next semester, and all those old returnees and new freshman shall be granted new advancements made in warfare against Demons.
