And Now What?

The rest of the day went the same way all days go, however among the guards there was a certain feeling of uneasiness for the events of that evening.

All say they were paying more attention to their areas, they took shorter breaks to go to the bathroom and also to eat. They were not told to do so, they just feel that was rhe way to go.

At the end of the day, the security room that so usually is filled with chatter and laughs was now completely silent, everyone just left their equipment in their lockers and don't said a word about anything that happened earlier. Suddenly, the silence was broke by the sound of the door opening and two mid-40's men entering the room. They were Morita Shigeo, the head of the security company and Yamada Shoichi, the head of the shopping mall.

"Good night everyone, thanks for your work today." Said Shigeo. "As you surely are aware, today there was an attempt of robbery in this shopping mall. But thanks to your awareness and hard work, we were able to deny said attempt and hand the aggresor to the authorities. Although these events might be a disgrace, we should learn from them, and understand that what happened today might happen any other day at any other time. So, I have nothing else to say other than remind you to stay alert and we will prevent that any of these situations turn for the worse."

After the words from their boss, the mood in the room changed, some of the guards just nodded their heads to show that they agreed with what he said and some others even smiled after the message.

Then,  Soichi took a step forward and said:

"I cannot express how happy I am that the good reputation of our mall has being kept, and I would even say that it has improved, because now more poeple will now that they can buy anything with total safety because the guards of this mall are always watching over them and working for their protection." And having said this he bowed his head to express his thanks and then continued: "Thank you very much for your hard work to every single one of you, I hope I can still count on you on the future."

And after he finished all the guards got their high spirits returned to them. All were cheering and clapping, congratulating one another and promosing they would continue with the hard work. All but one of them was back to their usual self. All but one of them seemed relieved that everything was over. That one was Ikeda Hideo, on his face there was a certain feeling of uneasiness, as if what happened that day was still not over at all.

The  guards finished changing and they all went home.

At the next morning Hideo's friend was one of the first guards to come into work, he was still sleepy and he yawned as he came into the security room, just to find Morita Ryoichi and Morita Shigeo both dressed up and conversating.

He greeted both of them and then asked Shigeo why was he uniformed.

"Well, it is obvious that I will be part of the team today."

"Oh, is it because of what happened yesterday? You are so worried about it?"

"Well it is because of what happened yesterday but is not exactly because I am worried about it. It's more like..."

"He will be covering Ikeda-san's area since he will be absent today." Interrupted Ryoichi. "He's being investigated by the police under the allegation that yesterday's attempt of robbery was planned by him."
