Chapter 5

As the gate of Nephilim closed behind them, the group found themselves in a world that was both familiar and strange. They were back in the town, but everything felt different. The power of the darkness had changed them, imbuing them with a strength and clarity of purpose that they had never known before.

At first, they tried to return to their old routines. But it was impossible. They were different now, and everything around them seemed to pale compared to the power they had tasted at the gate of Nephilim.

As they went about their daily lives, they could feel the darkness calling to them, urging them to use their newfound power to reshape the world around them. And with each passing day, they felt themselves growing stronger, more attuned to the darkness that flowed through their veins.

It was then that they heard her voice for the first time. The goddess of darkness, whose name they did not know, spoke to them in whispers that only they could hear. She thanked them for their devotion, for unlocking the gate of Nephilim and unleashing its power upon the world.

And then she offered them a gift. Each member of the group was given a spirit to form a contract with, a powerful being with unique abilities that would help them in their quest to reshape the world. The spirits were bound to them, and they to the spirits, and together they would be unstoppable.

The group accepted the gift eagerly, forming contracts with their spirits and feeling the power of the darkness surge through them once again. And as they did, they could hear the goddess of darkness congratulating them, telling them that they were now ready for their true mission.

Their mission was to end the lives of the corrupted members of the church of Light, a faction that worshipped the goddess of light, Miraa. The goddess of darkness explained that the church had become corrupted, their devotion to Miraa twisted into something dark and sinister.

The group was hesitant at first. They had never considered themselves murderers, and the thought of ending the lives of others made them uneasy. But the goddess of darkness was insistent. She explained the history of the church of Light, how they had once been a force for good but had become corrupted by their own power.

And so the group set out on their mission, their spirits at their side and the power of the darkness coursing through their veins. They hunted the corrupted members of the church of Light, their spirits using their unique abilities to track them down and eliminate them.

As the group set out to the nearest town, they couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. They had never been on a mission like this before, and the thought of taking another person's life weighed heavily on their minds. But they knew it was necessary to rid the world of the corruption that had taken hold of the church of Light.

As they walked, they began to talk about their spirits. Each one was unique, with its own set of abilities that would help them on their mission. The first to speak was Jackson, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Zephyr. Zephyr was a wind spirit, able to manipulate the air around them and move at incredible speeds. Jackson talked about how he had always felt a connection to the wind, and how Zephyr's powers had only strengthened that bond.

Next was Sarah, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Phoenix. Phoenix was a fire spirit, able to control flames and create intense heat. Sarah had been drawn to the element of fire, and she felt a sense of comfort and power whenever Phoenix was near.

Then there was Lilly, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Leviathan. Leviathan was a water spirit, able to control the oceans and summon powerful tidal waves. Lilly talked about how she had always felt a connection to the sea, and how Leviathan's powers had only deepened that connection.

Next, there was Marcus, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Gaia. Gaia was an earth spirit, able to control the ground beneath their feet and summon powerful earthquakes. Marcus talked about how he had always felt a connection to the earth, and how Gaia's powers had only strengthened that bond.

Next, there was Elijah, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Perun. Perun was a thunder spirit, able to control the lighting in the atmosphere and summon powerful storms. Elijah now felt a strong connection with the lightning.

Finally, there was Ken, who had formed a contract with a spirit named Lunarix. Lunarix was a spirit capable of controlling space to its will and go to anywhere in the entire existence. It can also manipulate space around someone/something. Coincidentally Lunarix is the wife of Pheonix, who is the spirit contracted with Sarah.

As they settled into town for the night, the group couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie. They had all been changed by the darkness, but they were still the same people underneath. They talked about their pasts, the people they had left behind, and the things they had lost.

Jax talked about his family, how they had always been there for him but how he had never felt like he belonged. Marcus talked about his mentor, a powerful mage who the corrupted members of the church of Light had killed. Lilly talked about her childhood, growing up near the sea and feeling like it was the only place where he truly belonged. And Ken talked about her parents, who had died when he was young and left her feeling alone in the world.

As they talked, they realized that they were not alone. They had each other, and they had their spirits. And together, they were stronger than they had ever been before. They knew that the road ahead would be difficult and that they would have to face many challenges. But they were ready. They had the power of the darkness on their side, and they would do whatever it took to complete their mission.

As they settled down to rest for the night, they felt a sense of peace wash over them. They knew that the darkness was a powerful force, but they also knew that they could control it. They had each other, and they had their spirits. And together, they would face whatever lay ahead.
