Chapter 8:

Medium Noctis

Angels cry for help

The middle of the night.A time where silence speaks louder than any word. That silence was part of Key's apartement until a little knock on the door was heard by Key.She woke up in an instant and looked at the door trying to narrow down who could it be.Who could be at her apartment in the middle of the night."Was it Takada maybe?" she tought, but he didin't want to bother her,so it would be nonsense to be him.Her body started to tremble on its own.She got up from her bed and with little steps approached the wooden door. She tried to look through the hole in the door, but there was no one there. She wanted to head back to bed, barely keeping her eyes open, until she noticed a red anvelope at her feet.It was just as red as the blood she has seen many times and it felt so eerie for her.She put a lot of effort into getting it off the ground and opening it.For some reason, her body was still trembling. Her body felt on itself that something was wrong.

In the red anvelope she opened slowly with a trembling hand,Key found a strange looking paper,a little burnt to the sides and a little dirty. On the paper it was written in big red capital letters "The night sure does sound beutiful,my lady." and a picture was attached on it too.The picture featured a young looking boy. There were no distinct features to his face, but he looked rather pale.He was wearing an old jumpsuit and some country boots. The photo looked like it was taken at the country side too based on the sourroundings and clothing of the boy,but It felt as if it was put there by mistake. It didin't corelate with anything on the paper and looked new compared to it too."Maybe the paper was made this way on purpose. The photo, the writing...What even is this?!" posed Key herself the question with a lot of confussion."The night sure sounds beutiful...What could this refer to?Do i have some stalker after me..." tought Key to herself looking again at the photo. It started to creep her out at this point so she put it back in the anvelope and put it in on her table. The feeling of tireness cloacked her whole body as she tought "Maybe i should forget about this for now.I am way too tired awww" stiffiling a long yawn. She then jumped back into bed like jumping on a comfortable cloud and then sat her view to the celling again. Her mind was clouded with a lot of toughts once again, but the tireness still forced her back to sleep.

The middle of the night.A time where silence speaks louder than any word. That silence was getting broken with every step the little boy was taking. It seemed unbreakable until he appeared out of a dark corner. He was wearing a blue jumpsuit, some old white socks and a little hat.

His steps broke the silence long before he reached the room his parents were in.They were sleeping. The dad was faced upwards to the celling and the mother sideways to the door.

The boy was looking at the door.It was a big door or so it seemed in his perspective. He looked at it.A minute passed.Another minute passed. He was still there, until a small sound echoed at his feet.Something fell on the ground. It was some strange liquid. It was red and dark and it smelled horrible. It came from the boys mouth. He bit his lip and a little bit of blood came out.

He opened the door and got closer to his parents. The sound of his feet was almost unheard. He didin't want to be heard.

On the floor the dark red liquid fell again. This time it was more of it,a lot more. The floor was getting covered in it.It didin't come from the boy, this time.It came from his mother's troath. Her eyes were staring at him in terror as blood was dripping from her troath. She couldn't speak, she couldn't scream. She was already dead, looking at her son.He was holding a kitchen knife, now soacked in blood. He then approached the dad who was still sleeping. He then rose the knife in the air and cut his neck open. His blood started to boil and fly everywhere. His eyes didin't even have time to open as his soul already left his body.

Tears,a lot of tears started to fall from the boy's eyes, but his body didin't flinch at all, his still expression he had when he entered the room didin't change, his face was still pale and his eyes wide open. His first mission was a succes or more like a tragedy.Either way,he had no choice.

Key woke up very tired after last night. She tought she could have finally slept well, but what happend in the middle of the night struck her mind for the rest of the night.

Key has just woken up when Takada was already at the entrance with a funny smirk on his face.Key rose up from her white bed, still tired and sleepy. It was like she was trying to keep her eyes open with some toothpicks. She still managed to put some clothes on and opened the door inviting Takada inside. She got a pan from her little cabinet next to the kitchen and started to cook some eggs.

Takada then sat down at the table and started to look in random spots of the room.He looked at the white celling that had a wooden fan on it blowing some air through the apartment and then at the white bed with a black untidy blanket and then at the rusty furniture including a small regular sofa, some cheap chairs and the table he was sitting at,but there was another table,a smaller one next to the bed and he noticed that on it,there was a weird letter.

"You got some adimrer?"

"Huh?What?" responded Key confused to Takada's out of the blue question.

"The letter on the table. The colour the anvelope where it probably came from is red,so i tought it might be from some admirer."

"Letter?Oh...right that letter. No,it is not from an admirer.I actually don't know from who it is and it might be a threat or from a stalker too or even worse,an assassin." said Key looking down in desperation.

"Why would an assassin send you a letter when he could just come here and kill you if he knew where you lived."

"That is true...Aah!I don't know then, but it just is really weird. It got some weird text on it and a picture. You can go check it out but i don't suppose you will understand more than me."

Takada got up from his chair right away and took a look at the letter affirming "It sounds like a love letter for some reason, but the person who sent this might also know your real identity. This seems risky, but next time something like this happends, call me on the spot alright."

Key looked at him with a little smile and murmured with a frail voice "Yeah I understand. If there will be a next time I will let you know."

Takada nodded, put back that smile on his face and sat back down at the table.Key had the meal already ready in her little hands and they ate it together just like the day before.Even if it happend just once,Key already felt nostalgic, but some weird sense of hapiness overcame here this time like she wanted this to happen again. It was probably rare for her to even have a person that she can talk to,let alone eat with and most importantly smile with.

"I think we should get going.Today, you will learn how to use your actual power. The gun training was just in case you can't use it in a fight, but we will still practise with it." commended Takada as he rose up in satisfaciton after eating the meal prepared by Key.

"Aaah...Alright,if you say so,but atleast we finnaly get to the important stuff.I always wondered how these powers worked." responded Key a little bit annoyed, but she changed her expression fast as she wanted to know more about the powers.

"Well, you still got a lot to learn.I already used mine for quite some time,so i think i can be a good teacher!" affirmed Takada with a victory smile crossing his arms.

"...If it's like yesterday i will have to find a new teacher..." murmured Key under her nose.

"What did you say!?" exclamed Takada with a little bit of angriness in his voice.

"Nothing, nothing let's just get going." said Key as she laughed off Takada's question and started to pack her things.

Takada waited for her at the doorstep a little bit and then they got going once again. They walked and they walked quite some time and with their faces covered this time, because they took the smaller road to the training ground and even if the other way was pretty deserted and they didin't have to worry a lot about their identity it was still a long way and it took them half of the day to get there and get back.

The masks they were wearing looked like part of a cosplay and them being on the streets of Akihabara made their disguise look normal enough as this place was already full with cosplayers and maids of all sorts.

On their way to the place,a dull looking man wearing a black coat bumped into Key with an unspeakable strenght. It felt like he did it on purpuse as Key almost fell from the sheer force that pushed her body. The man didin't even flinch and continued down the road, but he did look back at them after a little bit before getting lost into the crowd.Key got a fast look at his face, but she only saw a man grinning at her.

She looked at Takada concerned, but he also wanted to take a look at him,he was already gone. They didin't want to attract any attention so they just ignored him.

They kept on walking for a little while with all the lights from the big buildings of Akihabara flashing down on them.Key just then noticed how close was their training place to Akihabara, but it didin't matter as their place didin't have anyone visiting it for quite some time.

When they finnaly got there they took their masks off and got to the main attarction of their day,the archangel power training.

The big windows on the sides of the place were acompanying the rusty old celling, but right through them two small eyes, barely unseen pearls in the light of the day were watching the pair.
