Chapter 1:

Bus meeting

A Lover's Night

He got out of the library looking tired and exhausted.  Looking over to his watch to check the time.

"Damn it's late" he said after reading 9:36 PM. Proceeding to walk to the nearest bus stop which wasn't too far off. Passing by groups of friends, strangers, drunkards and homeless people on the streets with cardboard on the floor every few moments or so. All of them being illuminated and almost drowning in the sea of lights of the Cleveland night life. Clubs and bars shining their run down neon signs onto the faces of people who were asleep the whole morning after drinking too much the night before, repeating the process the next day after promising themselves that night was the last. Something he was all too familiar with. getting a sudden ringing in his pocket and revealing a phone after pulling it out.

"Hello?" he asked before yawing

"Hey man, it's Vic" the caller said

"Why you calling so late Vic? I'd imaging you'd be snoring by now" he asked. A bit surprised at the fact he was calling him at this hour

"Just calling to see if your coming soon. It's late enough you might be locked out of the dorms man, something YOUR all too familiar with if I say so myself." he said before chuckling "Anyways, you got around an hour left before Brock and his fat ass locks the doors. Can't imagine what the circular chair has been through. Must fucking stink judging from how he sits on it all day" Vic said. His voice seeming annoyed.

"Don't worry man. I'm not too far off from a bus stop I'm walking to" Leon said as he looked at the small and dimly lit stop "It's the shitty one not too far off the uni" he clarified

"Ah, then the bus must be arriving in 10 minutes right?" he asked "If your lucky you'll be home by 10:30. If the traffic is how it usually is 10:50 maybe" he speculated "Alright then. Just get home alright? I know you left your keys so just knock when your hear. I don't wanna be paying this rent all by myself so stay safe man." Vic said. Ending the call not too far after.

Leon putting it back once he heard the tone. Finally arriving at the stop 5 minutes later. Leaning onto a nearby pole as there weren't any seats. Something he found strange at first. Something that was a far cry from what he had in France which was comfortable and well made. Shaking his head at the thought before reaching in and rummaging into his bag. Pulling out a carton of cigarettes which revealed a piece or two missing. Putting one on his lips and lighting it. Taking a few drags before putting it out once he saw the bus. Coughing a bit viciously before straightening up and getting in. Smelling of cigarettes which the driver did not seem to mind. Leon thinking he was used to smelling far more awful things, no less the smell of a smoker.

Paying for the ride before walking up onto the second deck and taking a seat. Preferring the view over the quick and easy seat at the first deck. Taking out his earphones and putting some music on, sitting quite comfortably as he listened to whatever he found interesting at that current time. Staying like that until he heard foot steps coming up. Expecting it to be a random guy as he waited for them to come up. Finding a girl with blonde hair and fair skin coming up to the deck. Looking to be about the same age as him, he looked at her as he studied her other features as she wore a school girls clothing. Something he found a bit odd before she suddenly darted her eyes back at his. Both of them stopping at their tracks as they gazed into each others eyes. Bot being in an almost trance like state as they just stared at each other. His brown eyes sinking in her blue eyes and vice-versa.

Ending as quickly as it started as Leon looked away. Looking out the window to the people at the sidewalk. Staying like this till he heard a muffled voice to his left.

"What are you listening to?" she asked him. Sitting next to him

"Ah," he said before turning to her "Could you repeat that? Didn't catch it." he said as he took out his earphones.

"The music player," she said while pointing "What're you listening to on the device?" she asked

"Oh. The world we knew by Sinatra. Just reminds me of back home before I left." he said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"You moved into this city?" she asked "I could tell you had a light French accent. My family used to visit the country often when we were younger. We came from the UK ourselves wo it wasn't too much of an issue of getting there." she reminisced "But it's been a while since you moved right?"

"just a few years," he said to her as he stretched his arms "I still know how to speak in my mother tongue though." he said to her in French "Everyone does. A sin to not remember even a word of it." he said to her

"And where do you think I'm from?" she asked

"UK i'd say" he said with a very careful tone

"Bingo." she said while pointing finger guns at him "How'd you come to that though?" he asked

"Clothes, accent, maybe your clothes but that's a bit of a stretch." he said before yawning and stretching his arms. His pack of cigarettes  accidentally dropping as he did so. His eyes widening as he realised what had happened "Shit!" he said before quickly picking it up.

"You smoke? Your like 18-19 right?" she asked him with an almost disinterested tone

"So what?" Leon asked her "Land of the free after all. And the clerk didn't mind." he said before making a long pause "It's just recent anyways."

"Fair enough," she said before sighing "It's not my business after all. But you are in college right? First or second year?"

"First," Leon said as he got back up "Business management."

"So you want to be a heartless ceo then?" she asked him "Do this and that, work yourself do death for minimum wage or get fired sort of thing right?" she asked in a somewhat joking manner.

"Just something to go back on in case I ain't successful in what I actually want to do." he said while rubbing his eyes.

"So it's just a contingency plan then?" she asked

"Maybe," he said "Maybe something to fall back on, maybe something to impress my parents with, or maybe something to soften the blow when I tell them what I actually want to do."

"Just follow what you want to do," she said as she leaned back and looked at him. Leon noticing some eyeliner on her "Your destiny is yours to make. It's not like there's some being, least of all your parents, can follow YOUR destiny. Your path is determined by yourself with your brain kid." she said while tapping her finger on her head

"I get your point but first of all," he said as he put on his bag "We're only 1 or 2 years apart, second this is my stop. And just in time." Getting up after looking at his watch. The girl standing up too for him to get out of his seat.

"Just remember my points then," she said to him. "And don't forget me of course. Vivienne, Vivienne Sherwood." she said to him "And you?"

"Leon Kreuger" he said to her before going down and getting off of the bus. Crossing the street to his apartment complex which was only around the corner. Seeing his landlord getting ready to close up.

"Kreuger, your just in time. You little shit." Whispering the last part to himself.

"Evening to you too Brock." he said in an annoyingly cocky way.

"What did you say?" he said walking up to him.

"Evening, Mr. Brock." he said while looking at his eyes. the two of them being only inches apart. Brock staring at him for a bit as the air turned thick with the two standing off.

"Just get back to your room." he said. Grumbling something to himself as Leon walked away. Taking the elevator to the fourth floor and walking over to his apartment. Knocking at the door and waiting a minute or two unitl he heard someone walking up to it and opening it.

"Get in man." Vic said as he rubbed his eyes and stretched out the door.

"Thanks for opening the door Vic." he said as he got in. Dropping his bag at the kitchen.

"Not a problem. You live here too anyway." he said as he went back into his room. Leon hearing him fall onto his bed before snoring away. Closing the door to it before sitting on the couch. Managing to sleep there.

CHAP 2 PV:

He found himself in a classroom. A large window allowing the setting sun's orange light to illuminate throughout. Finding a chalkboard to the left and empty desks to the right. Finding someone leaning at the window in front of Leon. His confusion masked by a cold and relaxed face as they stayed there together for what seemed like forever. Waiting for each other to utter a single word. The person who had long dark hair, light skin and a summer dress opening her mouth to speak.

"I think....." she said as she paused. Raising her head for her green eyes to meet his own. "I think I like you Leon."
