World 1.9

Dinner is more extravagant than Yuri is used to. Where she's accustomed to instant ramen and just about any type of seafood, here the temple offers pasta and a variety of roasted meats and sauces and vegetable-based side dishes- most of which she doesn’t recognize. There are also a few different types of soup, and various breads to dip into said soup.

It reminds her of a book series she'd enjoyed as a child- Redstone Abbey or something- and just the sight of it all makes her mouth water.

Someone she thinks is a high priest (or something) stands from his seat at the head of one of the tables, tapping his spoon against his glass.

"Welcome everyone to this temple of Quar. Tonight, as we welcome friends new and old, let us pray for good fortune upon those no longer with us."

Glancing at Kaoru from the corner of her eye, Yuri follows her lead and clasps her hands together, then tilts her head back so she's staring up at the ceiling.

"Father Quar who nourishes us and grants us your blessing, as we dine upon the bountiful harvest bestowed upon us, we beseech you to show your generosity and benevolence to those outside our faith, so they too may prosper and come to believe in your grace. And the brothers and sisters of the congregation replied..."

"Agreed."

And with that, everyone begins eating.

Yuri tries a bit of everything and eats silently; no one talks to her, and she prefers it that way. Her Kaoru is the same, and this one seems to be as well. High Priestess Kaoru is seated beside Yuri, silently eating her own meal.

So dinner passes uneventfully, and soon enough, Yuri and Kaoru are standing in front of Kaoru's bedroom.

"Since you won't be staying long enough to get fully acclimated here," Kaoru begins with her hand on the knob, "we'll share my bed tonight."
