Chapter 45:
Sacred Sorcerers of Virtue Vault
As an Exorcist, Yumi was experienced with fighting monsters with all kinds of elemental sorcery, including kobolds who manipulated fire. Even though this was her first time fighting an ignaea Sorcerer, she imagined it similar to fighting a kobold.
Yumi and Blackjack continued their fight with exchanging blows in a close-range combat. With Yumi’s coarse fyx energy texture, Blackjack received more damage than he usually did. Meanwhile, Blackjack’s explosive defensive coating was really getting in the way for Yumi to attack him properly, letting him use the explosions to his advantage.
After a while, the three of them finally felt their fyx energy getting depleted. Before either of them ran out of fyx energy, they decided to deliver the final blow.
Meixia discussed a plan with Yumi to capture him. For this plan to work, the two of them needed to cooperate closely and fight side by side. When the time was right, they were gonna capture him the moment they saw an opening.
While the two of them were discussing their plan, Blackjack charged his final attack. He concentrated all of his fyx on both of his palms and converted it into fireworks.
While watching on a distance, Meixia sensed something off. She felt like his next attack was going to be very deadly.
“I guess I have to do this....”
Meixia then took something from her pocket and held it in her hand. She charged her fyx energy and imbued it into the object she was holding. While she was charging it, she took Yumi with her to somewhere far from Blackjack, to avoid his attack.
After Blackjack was done charging up his attack, he then launched it. Seeing that Blackjack was about to launch his attack, Meixia threw a grenade at him, charged wit her fyx energy.
“Boomclap!”
Blackjack clapped his hands and made a humongous explosion from his palms. At the same time, Meixia’s grenade exploded to act as a counter to reduce the impact from his explosion.
With double the explosions, they were huge enough to break off the ceiling of the throne room and some parts of the wall. Other people fighting in the room also got some impact and got blown away by the explosion.
Blackjack’s explosion lasted a bit longer than Meixia’s grenade and burnt Yumi and Meixia even from a far distance. Even though Yumi shielded them both with a light shield, the damages could still penetrate through her shield.
Luckily, the damage was not enough to kill them both. Having his fyx energy got depleted from his last attack, Blackjack stood sloppily, almost failing to stand up straight.
Using this moment, Yumi used her fyx skill to herself and Meixia, turning the two of them invisible. They then leaped towards Blackjack and landed right above him.
Meixia then drew lumina cuffs from her pocket. She threw them at Blackjack to capture him.
Unable to dodge, the ball touched Blackjack and bound him with light chains. His arms and legs were tied behind his back, unable to move.
“Dammit!” Blackjack shouted in anger.
Yumi and Meixia successfully captured Blackjack.
Meanwhile, by the royal throne, Four was fighting against Haru and Zum.
“Your Divinity! Why are you here?”
Zum was surprised to see Haneul joining their battle. Even though he could barely continue the fight, he was still standing on his feet.
“I can carry on the fight. You go take Arudo away,” Haneul said, asking Zum to bring Arudo’s body outside of the room.
“But––”
“Go!”
Zum nodded and immediately did as he instructed. He carried Arudo’s body on his arms and exited the palace.
“Well, well. I can’t believe the Premier is about to fight me. It’s an honour, Your Divinity,” Four said, with a condescending note.
“Cut your bullcrap. You’re gonna pay for what you did to Yujin,” Haneul said, enraged.
Haru and Haneul stood side by side, facing Four. Even though Four had fought multiple other opponents previously, she still had a lot to offer.
“Be careful, brother. Her fyx skill can absorb lumina sorcery and she can convert it into her own fyx energy,” Haru explained to Haneul.
Haneul felt weird about Haru calling him “brother.” However, he let it slide because it was neither the place nor the time to argue.
“Have you managed to damage her so far?” Haneul asked.
“I haven’t. I can’t touch her when she turns Transflage,” Haru answered.
“Try using medix for your attacks,” Haneul suggested.
“How?” Haru asked.
Haneul then explained briefly to Haru how to activate medix and coat his attacks with it. Haru immediately tried to figure it out on his own.
While Haru was figuring out how to coat his attacks with medix, Haneul tried to fight Four as best as he could. It was the battle of two Transflage.
The two of them exchanged blows on a close range combat, in Transglage state. Just like Akihiko said, Transflage do work well against each other. Even without medix, they could attack and give significant damage to each other.
“I never really get to know your true fyx skill, Your Divinity. It seems like it revolves around chroma sorcery, isn’t it?” Four asked.
Haneul possessed a multitude of techniques that it was hard to pinpoint his main fyx skill aside from his Transflage ability. As a lumina and chroma Sorcerer, he could also conjure light and manipulate colours to create illusion. Haneul was also considered as one of the strongest Premier(e)s to have ever lived in the history of the nation, especially considering his age.
“You’ll see,” Haneul smirked.
After exchanging blows on a close range combat, it was clearly shown who was stronger between the two of them. As someone older and more experienced, Four was dominating the fight between them.
After seeing an opening, Four grabbed Haneul’s neck and choked him.
“I’ll be taking this.”
She then sucked in Haneul’s Transflage aura and absorbed his energy. Haneul struggled to escape, but to no avail. Her strength was too powerful for him to break free.
Suddenly, Haru appeared in between them and kicked Four’s arm that was choking Haneul. Four reflexively let go of Haneul and backed a few steps away.
“So you finally did it, huh.....” Four mumbled.
After a few trials, Haru finally figured out how to activate medix on his own. Powered by his will to protect his long lost brother, he managed to activate it within a short amount of time in order to fight her. Even though she didn’t get damaged at all, Haru still managed to touch her in her intangible state.
Haneul could finally breathe after Four let him go. He then tried to catch his breath before he could get back to fight her.
Meanwhile, Haru attacked her in a close range combat. With his lightspeed, Haru’s attack packed much more punch than any attacks Four had received so far.
Even in her Transflage state, Haru kept attacking her with kicks and punches relentlessly. Four blocked his attacks as best as she could, but with his speed, she some of them and got attacked right on. At the beginning, she smirked because she knew that her fyx energy texture could absorb his attacks and did nothing to her. However, after Haru’s relentless attacks, she started to feel something.
Finally, Haru kicked her in the face which really injured her and pushed her away.
“What.....?”
Four was surprised to receive such a damage from him. Nobody she fought so far ever did a damage like he did.
Haru gasped for air. He got tired from all those non-stop movements. Just because he had his speed boosted by his fyx skill, didn’t mean he could go on without a rest. He was jumping around while attacking her without giving both her and himself a break.
“Your fyx energy texture absorbs light, not nullifies them. That means, even though lumina sorcery does nothing to you, you can still receive damage from the impact of the physical attacks.”
Four just realised that weakness. Haru made a good analysis of how her fyx skill worked and used it to his own advantage. Since Haru’s main attacks relied mostly on physical attacks, now that he knew how to use medix, it worked surprisingly well against Four.
Four then realised that Haru was her true antithesis all along.
Right when Haru got near her, she tried to absorb his energy by sucking it. However, Haru was fast enough to back away from her the moment she was about to touch him. Even though it strained Haru’s body to increase his speed without any breaks for a long period of time, it was the only way that could work against her and he had no other choice but to keep doing it.
