Chapter 13

The group was leaving the city as they were going. The group was resting as many things happened in a short amount of time and they need rest, so they asked Stephen to drive slowly as there were no urgent issues.

Raphtalia: “Why don’t we know more about each other more because I practically don’t know anything about you guys.”

Jackson: “Sure Saintess.”

Rapthalia: “Can you guys stop calling me saintess, we are companions now so we don’t need titles like those between us, so please be casual.” with a pouty face.

The group all laughed at the cute face she is making which made Rapthalia more mad with them and she started to hit Jackson who was next to her slowly.”

Raphtalia: “Don’t make fun of me. Stop calling me Saintess and instead call me Rapthalia.”

Jackson: slowly stopped laughing “Sure Rapthalia we will call you by your name from now on.”

Raphtalia: “Well that is good, can you guys tell me why and when have you started to stand against the church’s corruption.”

Elijah: “Well I will start.”

Raphtalia: “Ok.”

Elijah: “I am from a poor village which is quite far away from any cities or towns. Even though we were poor we were living happily but suddenly a large group of monsters started to attack our village and when our village head asked for help in the nearest branch of the church as the group of monsters that were attacking our village was being led by a demon but they refused to help us because we were poor. The father in that branch went as far as saying that we were a waste of space. As we had no one to help we tried to fight against them ourselves but we failed miserably, to protect me my mother sacrificed herself and lost her life. I was the only survivor of my village. As I wandered from village to village a man found me who said that he was a person who was wrongly accused as a heretic and was cast his village trained me but he also died due to a disease. After five years of destruction of my village, I went back there and killed the demon who occupied my village and went to the church branch which refused to help us intending to destroy it, but I was overwhelmed and was about to die but then I heard the voice of Lady Raveena telling me she will make me her Apostil and give me power but I will have to search for remaining Apostils. I accepted quickly and a great power filled me and I was able to destroy the church and from then I was on the search for these guys two years later I found these guys.”

Rapthalia: “What a tragic story, can you tell your story, Ken.”

Ken: “Well I don’t have a big story. Well, I died in a war in another world and was revived and brought to this world by Lady Raveena to stop the corruption.”

Raphtalia: “I see. What about you Sarah?”

Sarah: “Well it is somewhat similar to Ken but the thing at least a dozen of us survived but we were caught by some nobles and were almost sold as slaves but two of us escaped and the two are me and Lilly but at some point a large group of Paladins as we have no strength we could not handle them and similar to Elijah we were offered to become her Apostils and we accepted immediately and we were suddenly teleported to an old ruin in which we found our relics.”

Rapthalia: “What about you Jackson?”

Jackson: “My father is accused of being a criminal and he was taken away by the people of the church but one day he escaped from them to come to me because my mother died while giving birth to me, so when they took him away I was left all alone. The members of the church found us and this time they even took me. They made me an assassin promising me as long I fulfill my mission they will let me and my father be free, so I accepted the deal but after returning I found out my father was killed and my mission was supposed to be a suicide mission which they sent me intending to kill me. I was angry beyond belief and in rage and anger I screamed to the heavens for any deity or even an evil being no matter what to kill these people who ruined our life and I never expected an answer but I got an answer from Lady Raveena and all she asked of me is to be her Apostil and to eradicate these types of people and I accepted without any hesitation and suddenly a being made of pure darkness emerged and massacred every single member of that church and after that, she spoke to me once again telling me that she made the cape I am wearing a relic which is the cape called cape of shadows.”

Rapthalia: “I truly feel sorry for you Jackson and I can’t believe that I was loyal to these types of people all my life.”

Everyone went silent with that as the atmosphere became gloomy and that I when Rian started to speak to cheer up Rapthalia.

Rian: “Not all of us have bad lives. Me, Ria, and Mika are from a village that worships Lady Raveena as the goddess and we were exploited by the church which led to the demise of our parents.”

This only served as to further down the mood of Rapthalia but Rian continued speaking.

Rian: “Even though we were planning revenge we also found friends who are more important than the revenge. What I am saying the actions done by the church do not have anything to do with you and you only believed in Lady Meera, not the church. So don’t feel sad about it and be ready to rid of the pests which corrupted the Holy religion.”

By hearing these words Rapthalia’s mood became normal and she got a determined look in her eyes which told the group she won’t back down and she will get rid of that currouption.

Ken: “By the way Rian I have something very important to ask you.” asked Ken in a serious voice.

Rian: Also became serious “What is it, Ken.”

Ken: “You mentioned that the people of Redolg were going to start a riot. Do you know what happened to that?”

Rian: “Well as we destroyed the branch of the church ourselves the people people who want to initiate the riot thanked me as I went to meet them to inform them that the branch was destroyed. After hearing of what happened they thanked me and the entire group a lot.”

Ken: “I see. By the way, what do we do next as the present issues at hand are all completed.”

That is when the group heard a familiar voice once again except the normal humans but this voice was unfamiliar to Rapthalia.

Raveena: “You have completed the task at hand efficiently and also learned to regret your mistake of taking innocent lives unknowingly and I see the saintess has adapted to be in the group. Pardon my late introduction oh saintess of Meera, I am Raveena the goddess of darkness.”

Raphtalia: “It is an Honour to meet you, Lady Raveena.”

Raveena: “As for the question all of you guys have in mind, currently as the situations are currently changing and the people who are causing chaos suddenly went into hiding. I will discuss this issue with the Council of Gods. For the time being, you should take your mind off the issues and try to enjoy, and train yourselves. Oh and as I said before you are going to meet someone soon. Also, it might take at least a few months before the trouble-makers start their mayhem once again.’

Ken: “What is the Council of Gods, my Lady.”

Raveena: “It is a Council consisting of some major gods to be exact thirteen members.”

Ken: “I see.”

Raveena: “You guys should enjoy it as a break time and take the chance to grow the bond between you guys.”

With these words being said the voice of the goddess disappeared and they resumed their journey to the nearest town. With troublemakers going into what sort of adventures this group will have to encounter, only time knows the answer.
