Chapter 2:
Can I Get My Youth Romantic Comedy?
I had hoped to meet my fated meeting on the first day of school, but it seemed that it was only in my mind. You know? I've been hanging around the school all day to make a fated meeting.
But what did I get? Some trouble on the way that I shouldn't have.
It seems like what I'm destined for is not a person, but a problem.
Ughh....
As I walked into the cafeteria, I attempted to create a clichéd encounter by helping a woman who was struggling in line for food. But in fact, it was I who needed help there.
Buying food in the canteen is a terrible war. I will never forget that.
Next, I attempted to visit the park, only to be reprimanded by a teacher for some rules I didn't know.
In the library it got even worse, when it turned out that the school library was very quiet, and finally I got engrossed in reading books.
"Aahhh.... What a tiring day..." I whispered softly, while carrying my bag to go home soon.
There is no work today either, so I can just go straight home.
Right, I have to go shopping for dinner. I kinda forgot, but this time I have to buy ingredients for an extra portion, right?
That's because, my distant relative came and went to school at the same place as me, this morning.
And that's why I also feel very sleepy, because this morning I had to pick up that woman at the station. I only slept 2 hours before, and they also came without telling me first.
I really want to let that woman at the station, but remembering her parents have helped me a lot in the past, I discouraged.
I walked supermarket right now, not caring about anything.
"WELCOME!!" the waitress at the cash register shouted to greet me, while I just kept walking inside.
"What should I cook, huh? But, does she have any food she doesn't like? What if I make food that she's allergic to? Ughh, I should have asked about her..." I snorted softly, a little irritated.
I don't know anything about her yet, but from now on we will live together. Hope I don't give her any trouble.
Thus, I picked up my shopping cart, and started looking for the groceries I needed.
Ground beef, some lettuce and mustard maybe? Also there are mushrooms, and flour to stock up on. After all, I'm confident in my cooking! The food I make won't lose to the food made in a restaurant!!
And that's when, I just realized.
There was a woman, with long blonde hair, but tied to the side with a blue hair tie. She gave off a mature aura from her stature, but she was definitely still the same age as me.
"Ahh..."
"Hmmmm???"
"Hanasawa..." I called the woman I meant slowly.
Hanasawa Reina. She is a distant relative who will be living with me from now on. Somehow, we can meet here. Does she need anything?
"What are you doing here? But wait. You know this supermarket?" I asked. The reason is, she just came this morning, even the goods she brought were not arranged yet.
I looked at her hand which seemed to be carrying the same small basket with me, with a few things in it.
"If you need anything, just tell me. I'll take you. You still don't know the area well, do you?" I asked.
"Well, I need something. Also, tonight we will need to eat, right? So I took the initiative to buy something.... Like this." she replied.
I looked inside the basket, which contained some instant noodles, sausages, bacon and some snacks.
Wait. Aren't these all semi-finished foods? These are not cooking ingredients, and they are almost all instant foods. Plus, the price- umm I mean it's not healthy!
"Umm, do you think we're going to eat this tonight?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Heh? Don't tell me you... Can't coo-"
"Don't say that! I can cook normally, you know!! I can fry an omelette!!" she denied with a red face.
Okay. An omelette isn't cooking, but I get it.
This kid can't cook, apparently.
"No need, for tonight. I bought some groceries for the next few days. If you want something, just put it in this basket." I showed her the small basket.
"We haven't packed up your things either, so let's hurry home and do it all." I continued.
Seriously, all of this is troublesome, so hurry up. I you just need to be a good girl and follow what I say!!
"Umm, fine. I'll leave this. Should I pay for everything? I feel bad just having you do anything here."
Ahh, she still has empathy, right?! That's pretty good, but my pride is at stake here.
"No need. I'm not in any trouble in money, and as long as you're here, you're my responsibility. So, don't worry about saying something if you have the urge, okay?!" I gave a thumbs up, signaling.
She nodded in agreement, apparently understanding what I meant.
There, in the end we shopped together. Umm, a little embarrassing if I say it, but do we look like a married couple?
Ah, no no. I have to get that thought away from me. If she finds out what I'm thinking, I would die!!
"Hey, you know what?" Hanasawa grabbed my sleeve at the checkout.
"Hmm?"
She looked confused, slightly averted her face, but I could still see her slightly flushed cheeks. What is this?
"Don't we look like a married couple right now?" she said.
You damn fool!! I tried not to say it, but she said it instead!!
I immediately looked away, trying not to look at her face for a moment. I'm sure my face is turning red, but I try to hold it in, and quickly regain my composure.
"C-calm down. It's fine. We're wearing school uniforms, so it definitely won't look weird. M-maybe we'll just look like school kids trying to buy something at the supermarket. Yes. It must be." I answered quickly, clearing up any misunderstandings.
No, I'm not doing it to calm my heart. Not that, really!!
She just nodded silently, but still averted her face so I wouldn't see her. But I know, her ears are still a little red, maybe the effect of what she said earlier.
But if you keep doing that....
"I can be shy too, you know..." I whispered, praying that it wouldn't be heard by her.
