Chapter 1:

Firestorm on the Top of the World

Your Wish

The little ghost looks down on the world for the first time. The one who has always looked up at everything is now looking down.

Wow, everything seems so tiny; should I visit this place more frequently? Hmm, I wonder what lies at the very bottom. He looks below. I'm getting dizzy. The little ghost stumbles and trips over a bump on the ground.

He gets that strange feeling in his chest once again before something grabs him and prevents him from falling down. The little ghost is too frightened to turn around, so he instinctively starts jerking his arm away in an attempt to escape. Then, for the second time, his thoughts vanish as an overwhelming fear overcomes him.

Suddenly a familiar pleasant voice calls out to him out of the blue. When the little ghost turns to look behind him, he gets disoriented by the sight of the woman's bright smile, which has already become so familiar to him. Hugging him, she says:

"Careful little one, life is precious; once lost, it can never be recovered. The woman talks to him as she's enjoying the scenery.

"We meet yet again. I regularly visit this hill to watch the sunset, and I have never witnessed anything more breathtaking. Well, maybe a calm, clear ocean on a night when the entire sky is  reflected on its surface could top this, but even then, that's a tough one."

Now, the little ghost feels an intense pounding in his chest. His vision is beginning to blur, and suddenly, the background noise vanishes completely. He feels alone once more all of a sudden.

What is happening? Everything is dark everywhere I turn. I'm now surrounded by complete nothingness, and I feel isolated from the rest of the world. A voice can be heard calling out to the little ghost. That's strange; who could it be trying to contact me if I don't even know them? The voice, which is unfamiliar but strangely familiar-sounding, keeps getting louder.

Is this a person calling me? Wait... do I know them? I suppose I should listen to the voice; perhaps it just wants to be friends. The little ghost is surrounded by total silence; the only sound he hears is an occasional unknown voice. For some reason, he finds himself becoming strangely drawn to it.

He keeps moving in the direction of the voice. It grows louder as he approaches. Ahhhh !!!!!! My head hurts! The little ghost screams internally. His head feels like it will explode because the voice has gotten so loud. Even though his eardrums are bleeding, he is drawn to the voice like a moth to a flame. He then notices a bright object in the distance. He begins to hear the background noise again. When he opens his eyes, a concerned woman observes him from above. It's the same woman from before.

She's here; was it her voice; did she save me, or did she bring me there on purpose? Oh, no, It's all getting dizzy yet again.

His chest begins to thud, but it does so gently and calmly this time. The little ghost is still lying on the woman's knees and gazes at her, surrounded by a fiery sunset sky. The sky has gotten even redder now, looking like an endless firestorm that's ready to consume the entire world, and in the middle of it, a woman is smiling at him pleasantly. The little one tries to say something again, but the woman gently silences him.

"Some things are meant to be enjoyed quietly."

The little ghost keeps staring at her in silence. The bright, fiery red sky is filled with red and orange clouds that are moving quickly. He is awestruck by the sight of a raging firestorm in the sky; the little ghost can't take his eyes off it, but something entirely different catches his attention. Amid the firestorm, he can see an incredibly stunning woman looking at him.

His heart begins to pound wildly once more. The little ghost has just realized how beautiful the woman is. The gorgeous woman in front of him is now the star of the show, the raging firestorm in the sky becomes a mere supporting actor. The scenery before him is even more stunning than the world's most beautiful natural wonders.

Once again, his heart begins to beat rapidly, but he feels something new this time. He felt like a firestorm in the sky had started to consume him from the inside out. He felt as though the world was about to come crashing down, and he was completely caught up in the middle of it.

Despite this, he couldn't take his eyes off the woman for a moment. He kept staring at her while wondering just what was that mysterious reoccurring pain in his chest. The firestorm raged on as he continued to stare at her, but the approaching stars were gradually putting it out. Millions of tiny bright stars arrived to protect the planet from the world-consuming inferno. Now, in place of the firestorm is a deep blue ocean with countless shining stars swimming within it.

Both of them remained motionless as they continued to lay there, silently taking in the stunning scenery presented in front of them.

Was it always this pretty? The little ghost thinks to himself. Throughout his existence, billions of days and nights have come and gone. Still, he has never paid much attention to anything other than himself and his desires.

"Was I the one who was mistaken all along?

Maybe I wasn't rejected by the world?

Was it me who turned the world down?

A little ghost becomes overcome by fear. He finds breathing too painful, and a little ghost feels his life is about to end. Before he gets enveloped by panic yet again, something else occurs.

The woman stoops down until their faces are nearly in contact; the sky and the ocean of stars within it gradually become brighter; one by one, the stars begin to fade; as she kisses the little ghost. The firestorm starts again, all the stars in the sky are on fire, and the sun once more takes center stage, completely burning away the deep, dark ocean and all its stars. This is the strongest thumping he has ever experienced. An even larger firestorm is just beginning.

His thoughts vanish instantly as his heartbeat quickens and becomes more painful yet strangely enjoyable. The little ghost has once more surrendered to a sensation entirely unknown to him. He pushes the woman away without thinking before launching himself down the hill.

The blazing sky surrounds him as he rushes down to the void. He continues to run through a crowded city where cars line the streets and people are everywhere. The boy keeps running, but the raging storm follows him around wherever he goes, enveloping him in the fiery sky.

A little ghost begins to panic because he needs to leave this sky. He jumps into the river. He keeps swimming down; the darkness grows as he descends, but the raging storm feels just as hot and ferocious as before, following him everywhere. The Litle ghost had just realized that the storm had been dwelling inside him all along.
