Chapter 4:

The Legend of the Golden Carp part 1

Your Wish

Gorge and Periphirilia have embarked on a journey to catch the golden carp. First, they have decided to check out the local fishermen, as they seem to be the ones who know the most about his mythical being. Seagulls calls fuse seamlessly with the sound of the wind and the waves, and the air is fresh with the smell of the water.

"Wow, it's really beautiful here today."

Gorge says this while he is admiring the water directly below him, which is sparkling from the sun's rays, while walking on the very edge of the road, balancing on one foot.

''Yes, it appears to be staring at you when you look at it because your reflection appears right away."

"Do you believe the golden carp is the cause of this?"

It might be here. What would we even do if it were here?

"No, I don't believe it would be this simple, and I'm confident that the apparent magical light is only a reflection.''

Periphilia grinned.

Wow, magic. That is what I want to do. If it's magic, then golden carp must be involved, right?

"There is no reason why something can't be magic if it looks magical, right?"

Says gorge with an impatient and anticipating look.

"Enjoy the journey; there's no need to rush. You won't remember the actual carp being caught; rather, after all is said and done, you'll remember moments like these after we finally catch it."

Periphirilia looks at him curiously.

"Have you already decided what you want to wish for when we catch the carp, though?"

I totally forgot about it. Think of something, please. Oh, I see.

"Haha... I'm glad you finally asked.
I have been waiting for this question like forever."

Replies gorge while looking extremely smug.

"I wish to remove this ghostly robe. As far as I can remember, I had this stupid robe, but no matter how hard I tried, it would not come off. I was too afraid to approach people first because it looked so weird."

"Are you sure it won't come off if you pull hard enough?"

"Of course not.
Did you think I have spent thousands of years doing nothing?
Don't underestimate me, woman.
I was dragged around everywhere for years after first tying a corner of my robe to an elephant.
However, that didn't do anything.
But then I had a genius idea that couldn't possibly fail.
I have tied myself to some weird, huge bird.
But then it kept dragging around all over the place; not only did it fail to remove the robe, I couldn't even untie the knot.
I have been stuck on that bird's leg its entire life and only got out after it died and decomposed.
More recently, I have tied myself to a skyscraper, but that only resulted in me being strangely flapped about by the wind like some sort of flag.
The worst day of my life, I thought at the time."

I totally winged it, hahaha.

"Ummmhhh."

Perihifirilia gives him an odd smile.

"Here it goes."

She starts pulling the robe as hard as she can.

"Ahhhhhh !!!" Gorge screams in pain for the first time in his life.

Is she trying to kill me?

"Stop this at once, wicked woman!
You can't just keep pulling it when you hear me making sounds of pain!"

"Fufu, oh my, those are fishermen; we've been around for a while.."

Changing topics already? Forget and forgive, I suppose.

"Yeah, action time!"
Gorge puts on a devious smile.

"I'm very good at this."

"Good at what?"

Asks Periphirilia, bewildered

"You will see,hihi."

....

"Okay, let's go there."

Gorge points to a bush that's close to the fishermen.
Now is my chance to shine.

''Umh, you want us to hide in a bush?''

''Yup''

''Why ?''

''So they don't see us?"

When did she turn so stupid?

"Do you think they'll discuss the important mythical golden carp in front of two total strangers?"

Periphirilia stares at him in confusion.

"Wait, I thought that they couldn't see you."

"Of course, they can't see me."

After all, I'm a ghost. Jeez, what's with these stupid questions today?

Replies gorge smugly

''Then why do we need to hide?"

"Well, what if they can?"

"What do you mean?"

Seriously, what's with these questions?

"Okay, imagine we are sitting there listening to all their secrets, and one of them says:          Hey, who's that woman near a beautiful robe? Wouldn't that be so scary? I could totally die from that. So just to be safe, we should hide."

He explains as he mimics the fisherman talking about them.

"Trust me, my master plans have almost worked every time I try them."

Gorge approaches the bush and enters it after moving quickly and stealthily. He gestures for Periphirilia to come over as he waves back at her.

Periphirilia reluctantly comes.

"Owww, look, there are spikes here!"

Gorge stares at her in disbelief.

"Shhhhhhh, omg, we'll die if they hear you."

Ahhhhhh !!!!!! I don't want to die!!! Is she trying to get us caught?

Gorge suddenly stops panicking.

"Hey... wait. I forgot, what was that dying thing again?"

"Remember you were telling me about it a few hours ago?"

Gorge holds his head tightly, trying to remember it.

"You mean the complete disappearance of the entire being?"

Asks Periphirilia, appearing somewhat irritated.

"Yeah, I don't want to disappear, like ever. So, shhhhh, or you are going to die me."

"Haha, you idiot, you don't pronounce it like that! There won't be any deaths today, so relax. I promise. "

Periphirilia has the same bright smile that Gorge came to love.
Gorge blustered a little.

"Ahem," Periphirilia coughs awkwardly.

"That's kind of weird."

"What's weird?" asks Gorge.

Here we go again.

"Look at how you are blushing right thru your robe. That's just so adorable."

"Yeah, I know. That's why I want to get rid of it." Gorge clutches his robe tightly.

"You know, I always wanted to get rid of it, but now that I've had it for so long, sometimes... I feel so nostalgic and attached to it."It feels like it has become a part of me."

She smiles

"Hey, I've already said it, but I'll always support you in whatever path you choose."

Gorge blushes again and smiles.

"Thanks"

A fisherman steps off the boat and runs ashore.

F1: "Hey guys, you won't believe it, but I saw it."

F2: "Saw what?"

F1: "The golden carp."

F2: "No way, not that old children's story again."

Gorge holds his breath.

Come on, tell me.

F4: "How often did I tell you not to sail when drunk?"

F4: "We are all expert fishermen who have excelled at our trade for many years. However, you would be wise not to underestimate the water; the moment you show any signs of weakness, the water will take your life as the depths consume you.

Gorge whispers half-loudly.

"OMG, I think they are making him die to hide their secrets."

Periphirilia raises her finger.

"Shhhhhh"

"No, it is definitely real. I set out on the water when the sun first appeared this morning. I went, unroped my boat, and started rowing downstream the second sunrays began to lick the ground.
But a terrifying thing has happened.
The sun's rays, which had only recently begun to emerge, abruptly all vanished.
I don't know how long I was wandering aimlessly. Up until the light came back. I became lost, who knows where. But this time, I've discovered something that hasn't been seen before."

Gorge holds his breath.

Well, what are you waiting for?

All the other fishermen are looking intensely.

Periphirilia is getting excited.

F1: "There was another river, an unknown, never-before-seen river."

Gorge gasps loudly: "Omg, he said never seen before.
Do you think it could have been a ghost? Oh, my God, a ghost river, an unknown ghost river !"

Periphirilia looks at him bewildered.

"Can you just calm down and listen for a second? You wouldn't want to miss anything, would you?"

Gorge silently nods.

F1: "There is a mysterious lake where the two rivers converge."

Gorge:

"OMG, he said mysteriously."

Periphirilia:

"You, quiet down.!''

F1: "It looked like something completely out of this world.

Animals, the water, the fish, and even the air were completely different than anything I had ever seen before; the trees growing in the water were large enough to reach the sky; the water was crystal clear; I couldn't even see the bottom of the roots of the trees; the place truly felt infinite.

And then, in the middle of the lake, there it was; the golden carp."

Gorge jumps out of joy.

So it was real.

"Yeah, you go, carp!"

Periphirilia, disappointingly, hides her face in her hands.

"Hey, you know it was your idea to be stealthy and hide in a bush.
So can you stop doing this?"

"Okay, okay," replies Gorge, slightly embarrassed.

F3: "Well, what happened next?"

F1: " I have no idea; as I got closer to it, everything went black, and I passed out...
"The next time I woke up, my boat was here near the shore of our port."

F4: "HAHA, you most definitely weren't drunk ."

F2 says as he's walking away: "You know, at this age, you should cut back on the drinking."

F3: Also leaving: "Yeah, if your wife heard it, she would start worrying."

Shut up, you idiots; it's most definitely real! Gorge is starting to get angry

F1 also walks away disappointed.

Gorge looks at Periphirilia intensely.

"That guy is most definitely not drunk. It's a mystery. You heard him say mysteriously," Right? That means he can't be lying because that's a mystery.

She looks at him.

"Yeah, I guess so... So now what?"

Ha, I knew it.

Gorge :

"What do you mean? Let's find the mysterious lake. It's an adventure!"
