Chapter 5:

Act One: Issue #3-Chapter 5

Aniva

Looking around my surroundings, Dilara searched for something useful against that monster while she coughed, something to get it away from possibly Mother and her daughters. She couldn't find anything, nothing useful at all, while the monster roared at the doors.

That stinky smell of decay and the fire's smoke was hard for Dilara to bear, yet she didn't know where that smell came from. Sweat was poured down from her body and she hacked from the fiery smoke. She looked everywhere for anything useful and she couldn't find any. Wondering why she couldn't find it, she prayed to the gods for help and hoped they would answer her prayer. Yet all she heard was absolute silence.

"There is a gun behind the wall near the corpse," the voice of the same woman said above Dilara.

Dilara turned to the burning ceiling and glared at it.

Oh, now that woman' talkin' to me again after she failed to say anything to me at that last burning building earlier.

"Huh? What now?" Dilara asked.

After the woman's voice repeated her statement, Dilara turned around for a relook around and finally saw a gun lying on the tiled floor near the corpse sitting against the wall, enjoying his eternal slumber. She grinned as she finally found something-a gun. She pressured herself to get it and shot it at the monster before it broke that door.

When Dilara dashed towards the gun, the monster finally smashed the doors. The familiar screams echoed beside her, making her gasp as she realized that those women behind those doors were really Mother and her daughters all along. There were now cracks on those doors.

As soon as she got the gun, she quickly turned her head towards the monster and her family. The monster finally broke down those doors. She rushed her way to save her family as quick as possible.

Dilara aimed her gun at the monster, yet her heart was drummed up with fear. Her hand was shaky and made it nearly impossible to aim at that monster. She tried to aim her gun at the monster as it was about to swipe his claws at those doors one more time, yet she failed to hold her hand, no matter how desperate she was to save her family. She aimed the gun at the monster.

Okay, here we go!

She fired her gun and missed her target right after the monster smashed the doors open. The familiar screams of Mother and her daughters echoed from that opened doorway, realizing that it was them. She thanked the gods for saving her family.

But the monster stopped moving and turned around, seeing Dilara aiming her gun at it. Roaring at her, it charged its way in flight after her, preparing its claws for action. She pressured herself to shoot the bastard before it would kill her in haste.

Dilara tried to aim her gun at it again, yet her shaky hands prevented it from happening, no matter how hard she tried.

"You're still not calm. You must remain calm," the woman's voice advised above me.

"I'm tryin' to! It wouldn't let me, and I'm not even using magic! So can you give me another advice, lady?"

"You must remain calm, that's the only advice I can give you." Her voice faded away a bit.

What a useless bitch!

As the beast got closer, she desperately tried to aim it straight as soon as possible, but fear made her pull the trigger and missed her target. She glared at her hand and sill wondered why she couldn't shoot a gun.

When the monster raised its claw up in the air, it was getting ready to slice Dilara with it. She tried to aim it yet her hand was too shaky, so she dropped it on the floor and decided to find another way to shoot it.

Dilara jumped forward away from the beast just in time to avoid the monster's attack. Mother and her daughters stood there and watched me right after they left the room, coughing the fiery smoke out of their lungs. Roaring, the monster flew its way towards Dilara.

Mother screamed Dilara's name while coughing, adding, "What in the gods' name do you think you're doing, child?!" She took a couple steps towards her. "Come over here this instant!"

Dilara turned to Mother, putting her palm out towards her. "Go! Don't come to me!"

Has this woman gone mad?! Didn't she even see that I'm tryin' to save her and her stupid ass daughters' lives here?!

Once the monster heard Mother's voice while charging at Dilara, it stopped moving for a moment and turned around to Mother. Mother, her daughters and Dilara widened their horrified eyes for a deep moment.

Now that monsters were heading towards Mother and her daughters, thanks to Mother! If she  thought if Mother would just escape out of there with her daughters, none of this shit would've happened in the first place! She would have to go save that woman from that monster…AGAIN!

Dilara quickly scanned for something useful in the room, but there was nothing useful in here she could find, like…nothing at all. She tried searching everywhere and she still couldn't find anything useful to fight with.

Meanwhile Mother and her daughters shivered when the monster charged its claws against them. Mother took a couple steps backwards as fear continued to strike her heart.

Coughing a bit from the fiery smoke, Ingrid turned to Mother, grabbing onto Mother's dress. "Okay, we should try to run away, Mother."

Shakila also turned to Mother, shaking her head while also grabbing onto Mother's dress, coughing. "Ingrid's right. Let's get out of here before we die, Mother. I'm too young to die."

"We will, daughters, but not without our servant girl," Mother said. As soon as the monster got close to Mother and her daughters, Mother cried, "Run!"

Mother and her daughters quickly jumped forward and the monster missed its targets, screaming at it. The monster turned to Mother and her daughters, raising its claws up in the air with its vicious smile, chuckling a bit. It could sense fear in their eyes as they became shaky.

As that thing was about to attack Mother and her daughters, one of the three soldiers noticed it and aimed his guns at it. "Get down!" He shouted.

Dilara and her family heard it and turned to the soldier, kneeling down on the floor. Firing at the monster's hand, the soldier, Dilara and her family heard it roar in agony and flew backwards a bit, holding onto its injured hand. Its blood dripped from its wound.

After signaling his two other colleagues to save Mother and her daughters from that monster, all three soldiers entered the room and continued firing their guns at it, coughing.

"The three of you get out of here and we'll take it from here," the same guard shouted at Mother and her daughters while he shot the monster, watching the monster fly around in the air to avoid any more bullets attacking it.

Dilara turned to the ceiling with a relieved smile, thanking the gods in her head-more so than that woman's voice from earlier.

"It's actually four of us, sir," Mother announced while her eyes searched for Dilara.

The same soldier stopped shooting and confusedly turned to Mother for a moment. "Four?"

"Yes, four of us, sir," Mother shouted as she pointed at me. The soldier turned to me and saw Dilara running towards them.

"Oh…" The same soldier turned to Mother and Dilara back and forth. "I see…"

Once Dilara made it towards them, she turned to the soldier. "Thank you, sir, for saving my family."

"Ah, yes, we would like to thank you as well, don't we, ladies? Where are your manners?" Mother said as soon as she turned to her daughters after she heard their silence.

Embarrassed, Shakila and Ingrid turned to the soldier and bowed their heads a bit. "Oh, um, uh, right! We also thank you very much for saving us, sir. Totally, sir."

"Oh, it's our pleasure as always," the guard said as the monster roared and sliced both his colleagues' stomachs.

His colleagues screamed out of pain and collapsed to the ground, with their blood exiting their wounds. Horrified, the guard, Dilara and her family turned to the monster and saw it charged its claw against the last guard. Mother's daughters screamed out of panic after Mother told them and Dilara to run.

Dilara and her family ran towards the exit once the soldier also fell to his death from the monster's claw, with her family screaming for their lives. Yet the monster was quick enough to block their exit and roared at us, trying to slice Dilara and her family.

Dilara and her family shivered and gazed at the monster out of fear. Fear that haunted their hearts. She thought she and her family would get the hell out of this mess, but no. That monster had to ruin their chance to escape it, did it? She then glared at it with her eyes nearly closed, leaving her no choice but to defeat it.

"Okay, great! Now, what do we do, Mother?!" Shakila questioned when she turned to Mother.

Ingrid also turned to Mother. "Yea, Mother! What should we do now?! We don't want to die!"

"Stay calm, ladies. I'll think of something," Mother announced calmly as she quickly searched for something useful against the monster.

Yet once the monster raised its claws up though, it swung its claws against Dilara and her family. Screaming for the fear of their lives, they were lucky enough to dodged its attack.

With Dilara and her family running backwards away from the monster, it roared and continued to charge its attack against them. They also managed to dodge its attack from its claws, once they stood near the fire.

Everytime Dilara and her family tried to escape, the monster always managed to block their exit-their escape from the horror. Dilara tried her damnest to search for something against that monster alongside Mother, and found nothing at all, nothing useful against it.

Shakila and Ingrid's panicky beggings for Mother for a plan to escape didn't make things better for her. "Ladies, I'm trying my best to think, dammit! Now be patient and let me think" was all Mother could possibly say to them.

But no soldier showed up to rescue them besides those three earlier. None. Not even anybody didn't bother to save them as they were more interested in saving their skins than anyone else's for that matter. Even Mother had given up as she took too long to think.

After a while, Dilara and her family used up all the energy, they panted a bit and cautiously gazed at the monster as it didn't appear to be tired from all that flying. It chuckled with its vicious grin as it raised its claws up in the air.

This monster was too smart to let Dilara and her family escape, but how would they out of here though was a serious wonder for Dilara. She would've got to outsmart it. She would had to. She had no other choice other than that.

"Mother, have you thought of something now?" Shakila questioned, grabbing onto Mother's arm with her fearful eyes locked onto her face while Dilara's eyes searched around.

"Yes, Mother. Have you?" Ingrid asked, doing the same to Mother as Shakila did.

Mother frowned and stared at the monster. "Noooo…I don't. Nor will I ever want to."

Shakila and Ingrid gasped out of shock, turning to the monster and Mother back and forth as the monster got closer to them. Their panicky beggings continued to dominate her ears while they shook her back and forth.

Mother opened her mouth and allowed her tears to pour down on her face. She didn't even bother to stop her daughters from begging her like she did earlier. She'd given up.

Meanwhile, Dilara still found nothing of use against the monster. As she turned to Mother and her family, she knew this was the end for them. Wondering how she would fight and defeat the monster, she realized the monster would kill her and her family.
