Chapter 8:

Act One: Issue #4-Chapter 7

Aniva

While Dilara and her family journeyed towards the Castorian gates with the guards, her eyes examined their surroundings. With people's screams and footsteps echoing all around us, she saw people running for their lives in opposite directions.

The silent night frowned upon Castoria alongside the silver moon and stars. A few thin clouds floated across the sky.

Numerous fires were burning the majority of buildings. Monsters ravaged the area and soldiers both fought them off and rescued anyone that they could find.

Dilara and her family's hearts beated a bit faster out of fear striking out their eyes. She couldn't wait to get the hell out of this hellhole. She was halfway there to the Castoria gates, and she hoped she would make it there alive, alongside the gods on their side.

The three monsters-two skinny ones and one fat one-exited one of the burning buildings and searched around until they took an interest in Dilara and her family. Once they spotted their targets, they flew their way towards Dilara and her family.

Roaring at their targets, they pulled out their claws and were getting ready to strike Dilara and her family. "Huh?!" The soldiers noticed this and aimed their guns at them, pulling the triggers. "Enemy incoming!"

Dilara and her family turned to those monsters and her family screamed in horror. Their fear struck their eyes when they turned to those monsters while Dilara gazed at her enemies in her calm manner, running their way forward.

"Now the monsters are coming after us!" Ingrid cried when she and the rest of the family's eyes stared at the enemies.

"Never fear, Ingrid. Never fear," Mother reassured. "These soldiers are trying to save us."

"I hope so, Mother," Shakila also cried.

The monsters managed to dodge the soldiers' bullets and the fat one slashed its claws at their abdomen, making blood splatter on the ground. The soldiers cried and collapsed to the ground, with their blood spreading out from their wounds.

Then that same monster roared and grinned at us while still flying up in the air. The two other ones flew their way towards Dilara and her family, getting ready to slash their targets.

Dilara turned to her family and the monsters back and forth. Remembering the magical chants from that woman's voice, Dilara turned around and aimed her palm at them, holding her shaky arm tight to aim it straight.

Shakila noticed this and stopped moving. She pulled Mother and Ingrid's dresses. "Look, Mother! Dilara's trying to fight off these monsters on her own again!"

Mother and Ingrid turned back to her and Mother scoffed at her, shouting her name. "What do you think you're doing?! Putting yourself in danger like that?!" Mother added.

Dilara slightly turned to Mother. "I'm tryin' to protect you from these monsters. I can prove it to you that I used a different magic spell against the monster from earlier. Jus' watch!" She shouted back.

Mother gasped in terror. "Have you gone mad, child?! I shall not have my servant fight against those monsters! Not on my watch!"

"Go, little girl! Go!" Dilara roared as the monsters got closer to us.

"I beg your pardon?! How dare you call me, 'little girl' after I existed on this planet much longer than you and my daughters combined. How dare you?!" Mother roared until she stopped moving forward and screamed when looking up at the monsters.

Dilara put her hand down and ran away from her enemies, pushing Mother forward; Shakila and Ingrid led the way. Luckily, the two monsters only sliced the air with their claws.

The fat monster roared at Dilara and her family and flew after their targets past the two thin ones, getting its claws ready. The thin ones followed after it.

Looking back at those demons, Dilara stopped pushing Mother forward and quickly turned around, pointing her palm at her nemeses. "Go!" Dilara roared at my family.

Mother glared at Dilara and was about to put her hand on Dilara's shoulder. "Absolutely-"

Shakila and Ingrid also quickly turned around and grabbed hold of Mother. "C'mon, Mother. Let's go get the guards after her stubborn ass!" Shakila said, pulling Mother away from Dilara with Ingrid.

Mother immediately turned her shocked eyes at Shakila. "Shakila, why would you-"

"Yeah, Shakila's right, Mother," Ingrid agreed. "It's pointless to snap her out of it! Let's just get out of here now! Hurry!"

Mother quickly turned to Ingrid. "Ingrid! Why that's-" She turned to the fat monster in a shiver the moment it roared; it was getting close to them again. "Oh, my goodness gracious!"

"Let's go, Mother!" Shakila cried as she and Ingrid continued to pull her away from Dilara.

"Yeah, Mother. C'mon!" Ingrid also cried.

Dilara tried to chant a spell that woman taught her a while ago, even with holding her palm out hard enough for it to hold still, yet all that yelling behind her just became impatient and annoyed with her family's presence, particularly Mother-the worst of them all. She couldn't even believe they even remained here that long just to bother her. How pathetic…

And thanks to them, she wasn't able to cast a spell on her enemies. Her enemies were so close to her and her family that she and her family had to run away from them again.

They were lucky that their enemy missed its target and its two other demons flew past it, towards us. Those monsters roared at Dilara and her family and also got their claws ready for action.

After a while, Dilara looked back at them and turned around one last time. She stopped running with them and quickly turned around to put her palm out forward, trying to get it to hold still from her hand.

She quickly turned her head to her family and saw Mother stopped moving with her sisters, turning towards her. She sighed deeply the moment Mother tried to walk towards her one last time.

Again, what a stubborn ass woman she is!

"Would you get the hell out of here already?!" Dilara roared with a glare. "I'm tryin' to cast a spell here to protect you, and yet your dumbass want to prevent me from doin' so. That's not happenin', little girl!"

Mother growled at Dilara and raised her hand up in the air, getting ready to slap Dilara in the face. "Why you, insolent-"

Yet Shakila and Ingrid went after and grabbed hold of Mother, pulling her away from Dilara. "C'mon, Mother! Let's get out of here already!"

Mother turned to her daughters and Dilara back and forth; she didn't even bother resisting this time, sighing. "I suppose you're right, ladies. Let's get out of here while we can."

Dilara was relieved to hear that. Her sisters gasped out of joy and smiled at Mother, shaking their heads before they ran for their lives. Once they left, Dilara turned back to her enemies and her enemies were halfway towards her-all three of them, roaring at her.

Even though her mind was struck from fear, she didn't allow fear to haunt it, not now, not ever. After aiming her palm straight at her enemies, she closed she eyes and took a deep breath. Her mind boosted her confidence and took that lady's advice from earlier: just stay calm, and she should be fine.

Calmness soothed her heart once her enemies got closer, but that didn't allow her to be scared. Not at all in the figment of her imagination as far as she was concerned.

She was lucky enough to chant a spell before her enemies struck her. The white light emitted from her palm and made those monsters disappear in black dust. Their screams echoed into her ears when they tried to cover their faces from the light.

Feeling no scratches on her, she reopened my eyes and saw them gone. She grinned big with her excited gasp. She finally made those monsters disappear in a second.

Then another monster's roar vibrated behind her. Turning around in haste, she widened her eyes and gasped when the fat monster got close enough to her and raised its claw up in the air, above its head.

Oh, shit!

She jumped to the side just in time to dodge the monster's attack. It roared at her and was getting ready to fly towards her.

She tried to quickly get up from the ground, yet it was already close enough to her. It swung its claw downward against her, causing her to roll over to the side.

Once it struck against the ground instead, she turned to it and started to pant, swallowing her own saliva. Although the dirt entered her nose, she quickly breathed it out to prevent it from reaching her lungs. It turned to and roared at her again, flying its way towards her.

She was about to get up from the ground, yet shadows of flying monsters were cast over her, listening to their vicious chuckles. She quickly turned around and gasped out of horror to see five skinny monsters standing there, getting their claws ready for an attack.

She quickly turned the other way and was about to run around that fat monster, yet three more of them arrived near it; they also got their claws out ready to strike her.

She stood up from the ground and hoped to find a way out of her situation. She couldn't find it, no matter how hard she tried, no matter how many times her mind desperately wanted to think of a way out of her possible death trap.

She wanted to cast a spell on these assholes, yet she couldn't decide which one she would like to kill. She wished she knew a spell that could destroy them all at once.

As soon as one of the skinny ones tried to attack her, "Akaromba!" was all the chant that she heard someone said behind her. Seeing the monster's cry behind me from the lightning strike, it immediately disappeared in black dust and she quickly turned around, wondering what the hell was going on with her eyes wandering around sideways.

The monsters were as curious as she was, with fear striking their hearts. There it was none other than Rhydian with purple lightning bolts surrounding her hand, chuckling with a smirk on her face. She couldn't believe Rhydian came all this way to rescue her.

"So you decided to fight all along, huh?" Rhydian asked when she looked Dilara in the eye.

"Well, with my family in danger earlier, and guards getting killed in combat, I didn't have much of a choice there, did I?" Dilara answered.

"Very well then, I supposed," Rhydian said. "Mind if I join you?"

"I would most certainly be pleased, Rhydian."

All the skinny ones turned around and flew their way towards Rhydian, getting their claws out ready for combat. Once one of the fat monsters roared behind her with its claw raised up, Dilara quickly turned around and aimed her palm at it while holding onto her arm for straight aiming purposes.

Dilara managed to chant her spell at it just in time for the white light to stop its attack. All the fat monsters disappeared in black dust, in a few seconds.

After that, she turned to Rhydian and noticed all the monsters were suddenly gone from their existence. She assumed Rhydian got rid of them all, wanting to get Rhydian and get the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

Dashing her steps towards Rhydian, Rhydian rushed after Dilara back. Once they got close to one another, the monsters' roars echoed all around them as those monsters surrounded them.

Dilara and Rhydian quickly turned around and leaned their backs against each other, while the monsters flew closer to them. They both glared at their enemies and Dilara gritted her teeth.

Dilara and Rhydian both took a look around and saw some monsters that were skinny, and others were fat. They had yet to see any land monsters in sight as far as she knew beforehand.

As soon as Dilara and Rhydian defeated those monsters before them, new ones started popping up! She couldn't believe she and Rhydian needed to fight them off before they get out of here.
