Chapter 18:

Tower of the Truth part 1

Your Wish

"Who do you think was that thing that had saved me?"

"Maybe there are still residents left even deeper below."

"Do you think it will come back again? I want to apologize for it. Hmmm, it would also be pretty interesting to talk about what is going on with this weird place."

"Focus, you wouldn't want to trip yet again? We should be out of this place in no time. We can discuss all the details once we are out."

They keep walking without saying a word. Each is lost in thought about the surroundings and what lies ahead.

"The Light!" Gorge shouts joyfully, "We are saved!"

They have now arrived at the part of the corridor that is lit up.

"Wow, what a journey that was! I'm glad we're finally done."

"Hey, we haven't left yet; don't let your guard down just yet; you never know what might occur here."

"Aye, aye, sir captain, let's get out of here fast."

They have finally reached the exit.

"So does this count as out of it yet?"

"Not until we are back on the ship," Says Periphirilia.

"Okay, hurry then."

As they head for the ship, Gorge turns to take one last look at the building. He waves goodbye to the creature that saved him.

"Thank you for everything. I hope we meet again."

Periphirilia and Gorge board the ship.

"So, are we going to the tower now?"

"No way, that's not what we came here to do; we must find golden carp first." We can explore this area for however long we like after we find the golden carp." He explains.

"And how do you propose we find it? This place is huge.

"Let it find us; we don't need to look for it." Gorge nods in the direction of the fishing rod while grinning.

"Can we really just use a regular fishing rod to catch the legendary being?"

"Yeah, sure, why not? It's a fish."

"I haven't fished since..." Periphirilia stares at the ground.

Is she embarrassed? I never thought I would see that. I guess I need to help her out.

"Do not worry, just watch and learn; I'll show you how it's done," Gorge says smugly.

Periphirilia watches closely as he flings a line.

"You forgo..."

"Shhh, just watch and see how the real fishermen are doing. Im going to catch it in no time."

They continue to sit while gazing at the water.

"No luck today, huh?"

"Haha, don't worry; once I catch something, it's something that's worth the wait."

They continue waiting, but nothing happens.

...

"Maybe we should go to the tower now, and we can finish the fishing later?"

"You amateur, that's not how finish works; if we give up now, we will never accomplish anything. We've been sitting here for hours, meaning that a whole bunch of fish are lined up, just waiting for a chance to take a bite. Yeah, that's right, nothing bit yet because all the fish are fighting underwater for who gets to go first."

"Or maybe that's because you forgot the bait."

...

"Wut, why didn't you tell me?" Gorge looks at her with a teary-eyed gaze.

"I tried, but you shushed me and told me to watch how you do it."

Gorge starts pulling out the rod when suddenly he feels something.

"It's heavy! I caught Something! It must be the golden carp. Haha! I told you to watch how I do it."

Gorge has almost got the rod out already; he swings it towards himself, and it comes out. What was hooked loosens up, and an old, rotten shoe hits Gorge in the face.

Again? Nothing ever works out for me.

"Fine, I give up; forget that stupid carp. As you said before, it's probably all made up. Let's go to the tower."

"We came all the way to find it, and now you are just going to give up when we are so close?"

"So close to what? There is nothing here."

Periphrilia doesn't know what to say, so they pack their stuff and are ready to leave. Something splashes the water and hits Gorge again.

"Stop doing this to me!" Gorge yells furiously.

"Look!" Shouts Periphirilia and points to his side."

Gorge looks at it, and now he's speechless, just staring at it. His mind cannot comprehend what's going on. They have spent all this time and hardship searching for the golden carp, and now it's just lying there near him; the legendary golden carp.

"Is this real? Come here and check; I might be hallucinating."

"It's real; I can see it too." Says Periphirilia

Gorge lifts up the carp.

"Hey, you. You know we have spent a lot of time trying to find you."

...

"Not very talkative, huh? Well, it doesn't matter. Since we have done so much to find you, you now owe us one wish. Please take us to the most beautiful place in the world right now."

...

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Screams Gorge as he's violently shaking the carp.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm trying to get my wish, but it won't talk to me."

"Gorge, it's a fish; they can't talk."

"A mysterious fish; we don't know what it's capable of since it's a mystery."

"Just let it go."

Gorge takes a good look at the golden carp.

So it was a lie all along? Why would the fishermen lie to me all this time? Gorge thinks, and then he throws the carp back into the water.

"What do we do about the wish? Now we will never be able to find the most beautiful place in the world."

"When I think about it, do we really need a wish to bring us to the most beautiful place? We are already on an adventure. Nothing prevents us from finding it ourselves."

"Really ?" Gorge asks with tear-filled eyes.

"Yes, let's check out the tower first; who knows, maybe it will even have some clues. After that, we can set out to find it." Periphrilia smiles

They go for the tower, anxious but curious about what they will find there.

They've arrived at the tower.

Wow, it's so huge from up close!" Gorge is mesmerized by the size of the tower.

"I see no door; let's look for a way to get in."

"Maybe that thing from before is going to be there too."

"I don't think so. We would have most definitely seen if anybody besides us exited that building. Focus on finding the entry."

They circle around the tower but can't find anything.

Hmm, this is weird. Whatever it was in that place, it definitely told us to go to the tower, so that must mean that it was possible to enter.

Gorge suddenly remembers the strange creatures under the water circling around the tower.

"I got it!!! It's underwater! The entry!"

"What? Where did that come from?"

''Well, if we can't find one above water, it must be below water; where else would you expect it to be?"

"Just because we can't see it doesn't mean that it isn't here." Argues Periphirilia

"What's the point of arguing when we can just go and check it out? It's not like we got anything better to do after discovering that the golden carp has been a fraud all along."

"Let's give it a go. If you are right, I will kiss you."

"A kiss?!" Gorge is shocked.

"Yes, if you are right, once we find the most beautiful place in the world, I will give you a kiss." Periphirilia smiles

''Im going first!" Shouts gorge as he jumps into the water.

A kiss? That's even better than a golden carp. Yeah, I bet it's not even a fraud. Im going to have to find the entry no matter what.

Gorge doesn't even wait for Periphirilia to join him because he is so eager to find the entry.

Wait, what if it isn't even in the water? I can't just give up on the kiss. Do I just make an entry if I can't find one?

As Gorge thinks, he sees the same creatures swimming around the tower. He closely inspects the area.
What is this? Gorge notices something that looks like a hidden door on the wall. He signals for Priphirilia to come to him.

They push the door with all their might, and it caves in. They both fall inside the tower.

"Phew, there is no water inside. I thought it might be flooded.

"Gorge, there is light in here..."
