Chapter 1:
Even as Another World's Bone King, I'll still give 50% effort
It was that time again, lunch. A certain second-year class, like most others, just used the time to hang out with friends and take a bit of a breather. Though some used the time to cram for tests which were to be blamed mostly on them.
A small group of people, led by one Kazuma Kamijo, known as the typical bully and troublemaker in his class, made their way toward the opened classroom door. Only to then bump into an invisible magic barrier, knocking him on his butt as the other two with him as well as the rest of the class, look on in confusion.
In the corner of the classroom, a black haired boy, along with an off-white colored short-haired girl sitting in front of him, stared at the fallen student. He was slightly annoyed, sighing before opening his mouth to speak.
Haru: That dumbass, what's he trying to pull this time. It's like everyday he's always trying to pull something.
This was Kanzaki Haru, someone who was well known in the class for just half-assing his work all the time, though some still don't get why he's still here as they've assumed he'd have dropped out already, which he hasn't.
Touka: Hey, Haru, didn't you say you wouldn't fall for his bait and stuff just last week?
Haru: Shut it Touka, that was last week, I've changed my mind.
Touka: Could you at least give your dear old childhood friend some leeway here?
Haru: Not happening, well at least not right now anyway.
???: I see my dear Haru is still hanging with my little sister. Good grief you really should just come to me instead of her.
A feminine voice said as the person walked towards the pair.
Touka: Not sure if someone who kidnapped him in first year should be saying that, Airi.
Airi: My, calling me by name? Oh how I wish you hadn't become my rival dear sister.
The confrontation then was cancelled early by loud struggling noises from the rest of the class and those outside of the room trying to break down the barrier, some using chairs to try and break it. Haru was relieved that it was interrupted since he didn't want to deal with those two fighting again.
Although uncharacteristically he stepped up to help out the rest who were trying to break down the barrier, saying "If I get this done we can finally leave" as a bit of an excuse.
He then shouts at the rest of the class to move away, giving him a clear view of the barrier he needed to break, whilst he held someone's table as if it were a battering ram, then charged towards it.
As expected he didn't manage to break it, only getting the same rippling effect on the barrier everyone else who tried to break it got. A voice was then heard from outside, one belonging to the gym teacher, who was infamous for unparalleled strength in the school.
Gym Teacher: Alright then kids, let me show you how it's done.
He says as he prepares himself for a running tackle, then rushing to the barrier affected door, failing the same way the rest have. As he is left depressed because of it, another teacher suggests they try the windows, to which the students inside responded that they've tried that already to little success.
As the rest were losing hope due to their situation, Haru, who sat on a random student's chair was thinking what even created the barrier using that as a base to try and find a solution, as he was, colored pillars of light appeared, surrounding the students, inescapable ones at that.
His happened to be a light grey, he then looked over at some others, seeing that Touka's was a lemon yellow while Airi's was a light brown. He then saw his hands disintegrating observing the same thing happening to the rest, eventually they were all gone as the pillars and the barrier dissipated.
This incident left the teachers and students who were outside the classroom, seeing an entire group of students basically get killed out of nowhere, and being unable to stop it, in a massive shock.
The incident was then reported to the head of the school, who had informed the parents of the class that was affected, leaving each of the parents in the same shock as those who saw it happening.
Meanwhile those who were seemingly killed via disintegration ended up in a stone brick room lit up by only a couple of standing torches, surrounded by several people wearing green robes, their faces hidden by their hoods.
Haru: While I should probably celebrate being sent to another world, my priority right now should be figuring out who did this and where I ended up.
Haru then looked around as the rest were either nervous or panicking, he then spotted a figure inside a hallway, far enough to be effectively hidden yet still vaguely visible to someone in Haru's position.
Said figure had a crown, a staff or long rod of some kind, and a cape or cloak. Which he pieced together as either a king or some kind of grand wizard.
Haru: I've got you now.
As he tried to figure out where they were, he spotted one of the guys in a cloak head towards him and the rest, then spoke up.
Mage: Ahem, I welcome you to our facility. This was our third attempt to call heroes to our aid, and we are thankful that we've managed to summon you all.
Haru: More like we were forcefully taken out of our classroom, but sure.
He thought as the Mage kept talking to them about the reason they were "called upon"
Mage: You see, we needed to summon you here to our world because we've discovered that a cult that has given themselves immense magical power thanks to forming contracts with demons, has now plotted to summon the demon lord, Deminas, into our realm.
Haru: I should've seen this coming
He mouths to himself as the Mage continues to explain that they need to train and become powerful enough to stop the cult before they can succeed with their plan.
Mage: We had already called on some knights to escort you to the throne room where the king may give you more information about the cult and our world in general.
As he finishes his ramblings, a small group of knights come into the room, the escorts that the mage was talking about. As expected they were then taken into the throne room to see the king sitting at his throne.
Marle: Greetings heroes, I am King Marle, ruler of the land of Ersune. I'm sure you've heard one of our mages say before, we've called you here to combat a cult and prevent the invasion of the demon lord and his forces into our world.
The King then kept on talking, about the job classes and magic in this world, and how he needed to awaken ours and become this world's saviours. This got Haru curious about which class he'd be.
He assumed he'd be a berserker or an assassin, having put his personality as a basis for the assumption, eventually he didn't care too much about which one it would be, as long as he gets to keep his philosophy.
Marle: And As such I've called our Grand Mage to help you awaken your class. You can come in now.
Grand Mage: As the King said, I'm here to awaken your classes, and hopefully you all may become our saviours and prevent the rise of the demon lord in our realm.
Marle: You may now begin.
Grand Mage: As you wish, your highness. Awaken Class of the Heroes!
As he cast the spell a wave of golden sparkling light showered the throne room, the class were then also coated in this light for a brief couple of seconds before dissipating, as the spell had been completed.
The King nodded towards the Grand Mage, as to signify something to inform the group in front of them about.
Grand Mage: To see what your class and by extension your level is, try calling out "Status". Like this, Status.
As he said it a holographic screen appeared showing his stats to the rest of the people in the room.
Haru: Level 40 huh, for a supposed "Grand Mage" it's lower than I expected.
He thought to himself as the rest of the class tried it out for themselves using various voice tones and showing off their stats to their respective groups.
Touka: So you're not curious to see what yours are?
She says as she approaches him from the side.
Haru: I am, it's just I kinda wanna do it when everyone has settled down.
Touka: Might wanna hurry up, cause I heard we're going to test these abilities out. I don't wanna be the one to see that his class is a farmer.
After giggling a bit at that last part, she did convince him to take a look at his stats and see what his class was.
Haru: Alright but I know for a fact it's not farmer.
Touka: We'll see about that then.
Haru: Status.
The holographic screen shows up, showing that he is a Level 10 Executioner and has access to the skills {Swift Demise} & {Sharpened Edge} at Level 1. Surprising the pair, especially Haru.
Haru: Well...this wasn't what I expected.
Touka: Yep, your level's a lot higher than I thought.
Haru: Just what image do you have of me?
Touka just looks at him, her look saying all he needs to hear, effectively putting him down a peg.
Haru: I....I can't really disagree now can I?
Touka: There we go.
Haru: Only cause I don't have anythi-
Marle: Attention please.
He said in a booming and authoritative manner, causing the class to go almost completely docile and face the king as if they weren't causing a ruckus a minute ago.
Marle: Now then, you all have awakened your classes and have seen your available skills? Now it is time to test them out in our training arena, don't fret we will also provide basic gear for your class.
The same group of Knights then lead them to the castle's armory, which was a lot bigger than they all expected. With the Knights helping them out with the gear for their class.
Haru with the assistance of one of the Knights that helped them get there, had gotten some basic executioner armor and a basic execution blade. After a while the rest of the class, Touka, and Airi got their gear and went on to the arena.
Haru: Reminds me of the Roman Colosseum.
Touka: Oh yeah, the only class you ever put a lot of effort in was history. I remember you even beating the class rep's score on the test back in first year.
Haru: Beating that sucker was probably my greatest achievement honestly.
Touka: That day was probably the only time I saw yo-
Airi: Haru, my dear, could you at least spend more time with me than my unappealing, flat sister? Surely this voluptuous pirate is worth more than her.
Haru: I would say she's hot but the entire kidnapping of me in first year killed it for me, plus Touka would beat me up if I said that even without the whole kidnapping thing.
He thought to himself, as Touka went over to snap him out of it as the golems, summoned by mages, were about to approach the class for field training.
Touka: C'mon now focus, you see those things?
She turns him around, laying his eyes on the golems, and has judged his chances of success in a fight with them, at a massive zero.
Haru: Ah, I am going to die.
Touka: Save the jokes for later, I mean look at my sister over there.
She points towards the raging pirate, slashing and destroying the golems as if they were nothing, all with a terrifying smile on her face.
Haru: How the hell did sh-
Touka: Shut up and fight already, you've played fighting games haven't you?
Haru: Emphasis on "Games" I might add.
Touka: Suit yourself then.
She then heads off and smashes several of the golems to bits using her hammer and her skill {Rock Shatter} leaving Haru on his own.
Haru: Dammit, just go for the smaller ones and we should be fine.
He thought to himself, finally convinced to fight after seeing the rest go on. Taking out the Execution Blade from the ground as he stabbed it into there earlier, very nervously gripping the fairly massive sword.
His eye then darts to a small golem approaching him, taking a breath before swinging the sword, shattering the golem.
This however made him lose his balance, needing to plunge the sword into the ground to stabilise himself.
Haru: I guess this should've been expected, the only exercise I got was walking to school.
He thought to himself, while scanning the area to find small golems to kill, eventually seeing a small group nearby, he then picked up the sword, dragging it on the ground and made his way to the golems.
Now holding his sword in his hand, and one by one he shattered the group of golems to pieces. Once more, taking a slight rest before tracking some more targets.
Haru: C'mon, c'mon, where are you?
He mouths to himself, obviously tired yet still motivated enough to keep going.
Haru: If I can't find more of the small ones, then I'll have to find the normal and large ones.
He thought to himself, dreading having to deal with them, as he glanced at his classmates dealing with them with ease.
Haru: Ah dammit, fine then.
As he approaches a normal human-sized golem, the skill {Swift Demise}subconsciously activates, boosting his speed as he starts to run toward it, getting ready to slice it in half.
Then he slices it in half, the halves then shatter into pieces as they fall onto the ground. Giving Haru a massive adrenaline rush, as he then goes on a slight rampage, slicing and dicing golems as if they were nothing, the skill still active unknown to him.
As the rest of the class, who were going at their own pace, looked on, some in horror, some in shock, and some, namely Airi, wetting themselves.
Eventually he ended up destroying a golem that Touka was about to destroy, landing in front of her as the golem collapsed.
Haru: Yo, I took your advice, did I do well?
Touka: Aside from taking my kill, you did well enough.
Haru: My bad, my bad.
He then approached her as {Swift Demise} deactivated, paired with the adrenaline rush subsiding, leading him to collapse in her arms, gaining a smile from her in the process.
Touka: Looks like you exerted yourself too much, huh?
Haru: Worth it if you ask me.
She then placed him sitting by the arena's wall, letting him rest up for a while before she went back to smashing the golems.
Touka: Rest up well, otherwise you'll be more trouble for me, 'kay.
Haru: Not like I have the energy to do more than that.
Touka: That's the spirit, see you then.
She then heads off to fight more of the golems, activating her skill {Rock Shatter} intentionally to boost her weapon's power and make it easier to deal with the golems.
After a while Haru recovered enough to go at it again with the rest of the class struggling as he slowly gets up and grips his execution blade, this time manually activating {Swift Demise} and running over, slicing several golems in his wake.
Haru: More, more, more!
He thought in the back of his head as his rampage ensued, as Touka observed him, with a slight smile on her face as she kept fighting the golems in her area.
This training went on until nightfall, until they thought that it was enough for that day and the golems dissipated, finally giving the rest of the class some relief.
Marle: Splendid work, though I should have expected this from our heroes.
Grand Mage: They've got a lot to work on but they all did great, some more than others.
Marle: In any case, I guess it should be time for our guests to sleep, some might want to eat but I'll let the head chef handle them.
As most of the class said their goodbyes, as they split off into two groups, one of those groups, the ones going directly to bed, were guided by the castle's maids towards their rooms.
They were told beforehand that it would be a two person per room setup, which gave some of the guys some hope while the rest were dreading having a roommate.
Unfortunately for Haru, he ended up with Airi as his roommate, knowing what he was in for once those doors were closed, he started to mentally write his will.
Maid: Do try not to cause any disturbances for the rest of the guests, that is all.
Airi: No worries, right Haru?
Haru: Uh yes.
She then closes the door and as the pair make their way towards the beds, a dark chilling aura immediately fills the room, His legs shivering as he knew what was about to happen at that moment in this room.
His life flashing before his eyes, he looks at the girl as if she was some demon from the deepest depths of hell itself, He then falls down and backs up as the girl keeps creeping closer and closer towards him.
Haru: Stay away!
Airi: C'mon now don't be like that, I'm just going to play with you.
Haru: Is this really how it ends for me? Stuck in a room with a crazed and obsessive woman like her?
He thought as she was inching closer, the look in her eyes was that of lust mixed in with sadistic glee due to the fact that her prey was about to finally fall into her hands.
Slowly as she got on top of him, she starts to unbutton her blazer, throwing it off to the side before moving on to her undershirt and tie, revealing a lacey black bra underneath.
Having finally pinned her prey down, one hand grabbed Haru's tie as his head was turned to the side, trying his best not to face her. Though this only seemed to turn her on even more.
Airi: A bit stubborn are we? Don't worry this will feel good in just a moment my dear.
Giggling as she was about to indulge much to his dismay, wondering how bad his luck was to end up with her of all people as a roommate.
Thankfully for him, she ended up collapsing on the floor next to him out of exhaustion from the training earlier, taking a deep sigh in relief as he stared at the ceiling for some time.
Haru: Guess I'll plop her on one of the beds, I'll feel bad if I just left her there all things considered.
He then stood up, stretching a little before picking her up, struggling a bit but eventually managed to tuck her into the nearest bed, taking the one next to it for himself.
Taking off his blazer and tie along with shutting off the lights beforehand, lying on the bed as the events of the day sunk in to him, while still feeling surreal.
Haru: Those days, wishing to be sent to another world and turn into an overpowered protagonist, never thought it would come true. Though going into one with my classmates was the worst thing to happen, then again, it's not like I need to worry too much as they might just off themselves with their stupidity.
Those were his last words before closing his eyes as he went to sleep, resting in at least some comfort on his first day in another world.
As his eyes started to blink awake, he felt a bit of heft on his right side along with seeing the same off-white hair as Touka, albeit longer. Assuming correctly it was Airi who snuck into his bed after collapsing yesterday night.
Haru: Ah dammit.
Airi: How mean, a cute girl's in the same bed as you and that's all you have to say.
Haru: Look, I was nice enough to tuck you in. Fix up your clothes before someone gets the wrong idea.
Airi: Nope, I missed my chance last night and I'm not letting it slip again
She then pins him down on the bed as she did on the floor last night, still somewhat sleepy he decides to let her do what she wants, then before anything could happen, the pair hear knocks on the door.
Haru: I'll get it, now fix yourself up already jeez.
Airi: Aww, you're no fun.
He then heads over to the door, opening it revealing the same maid from last night calling them over for breakfast. Airi, who had finished putting her clothes on, leaving only her tie off. Went over so the pair could be guided towards the dining hall.
Arriving there they'd seen some of their classmates already there, Touka going up to approach Haru, inviting him with Airi following suit, over to a table with some food already on it.
Touka: Well weren't you lucky, getting someone dedicated to you as your roommate.
Haru: Dedicated, more like obsessed. Hell, she even tried to force herself onto me before thankfully collapsing before much could happen.
As he said this Touka gripped his arm tighter and tighter, intentionally hurting Haru as a result.
Haru: Ahhh, it hurts dammit, stop it please!
She loosened her grip before letting go, allowing Haru to reel from the pain. He then felt another person grab his other arm, hoping that it wasn't who he thought it was.
Airi: Even with what we did this morning, you're still spending time with her more than me, how disappointing.
Haru: Huh, I don't know what you're talking about.
Airi: Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind me retelling what happened, dear? How you succumbed to lust and all?
She said as she kept clinging to his arm, very much trying to get a reaction out of her younger sister, Touka. Which worked extremely well as Haru felt a murderous aura coming from her directed towards the both of them.
Touka unexpectedly just let out a sigh, not much of a reaction as Airi wanted to get out of her.
Touka: Just shake her off, ok?
She said under her breath, loud enough for only Haru to hear, giving her a thumbs up under the table as she gave him a slight smile before leaving with a piece of bread in her hand having finished her breakfast.
Airi: It's just the two of us now, c'mon now don't be shy.
She then tries to feed him from his plate, shocking the poor guy as some of their classmates that were still in the room glared at the pair.
Haru: Ah. I should get out of here soon.
He thought as he picked up his spoon and began to eat. Airi kept trying to feed him herself much to his dismay, eventually finishing up and quickly leaving Airi behind with her food barely touched.
Haru: Phew, I managed to get away. Now then I might loiter here for a while, it's got a nice view, might as well take advantage of it.
Touka: Yeah, it really is nice.
She said as she approached him from behind, as if she'd been waiting for him here but in reality she was just wandering around the castle aimlessly, just collecting her thoughts.
Touka: You actually shook her off, huh?
Haru: More like I ran off but still.
Touka: That does seem more like you.
She then giggled a bit after saying that, gaining a grin from Haru in the process as the pair then went to sit by the stone brick wall.
After chatting for a while, Touka asking him about his plans in this strange new fantasy world and all, the pair then decided to head to the throne room, having overheard that there'll be an announcement there earlier in the dining hall.
Haru: What do you think that guy will announce?
Touka: Maybe info on the cult they talked about, what about you?
Haru: I don't really care too much, I just hope it isn't another training session.
Touka: Why not, you get to rampage there all you want.
Haru: It takes a lot outta me, you should know this already.
The pair eventually reach the room as some of the class are already there and the rest had just arrived or were still in the dining hall. Slowly the entire class pooled into the throne room, chatting amongst themselves.
Eventually, the king and the grand mage enter the room as the class collectively settles down, getting ready to hear whatever he has to announce to them.
Marle: Alright then, now that everyone's here, as you know I have something to announce to you all. In the time our kin-
Grand Mage: Your majesty, how about we get to the point so we can get them started earlier, time is of the essence you know?
Marle: Right, sorry about that. Ahem, we will be conducting a six-month long training for you all.
As he announced it the class erupted in shock, they thought "six months, is that even legal" having experienced the training in this kingdom just a day ago. All the while Haru thought that he might've jinxed this earlier and is now paying for it. Needless to say it'll be a long six months for this class going forward.
