Chapter 12:

Suma's bestfriend

The Bestfriend's Love Story: Kazou and Suma

As Kazou sat down he met Suma's eyes. She was on the phone with someone.

"Yeah.... oh he did.... well that's not his fault.... okay.... i see.... okay... yeah.... alright bye", Suma said all that while on the phone.

As she hung up she told Kazou what the call was about. It had been Ami and she called about Toyo because they'd only been dating a day and he already was spending more time with another girl than Ami.

"But he has to do the assignment?", Kazou said.

"Yeah I tried to tell her that but she wouldn't listen", Suma said.

"Geez, I'll talk to Toyo later about it I guess", Kazou said.

"Yeah" Suma agreed. "We should probably get this assignment started now though", she said.

      "Yeah", Kaozu responded.

As they sat their writing notes about the place they were Suma went to take a drink. As she drank the coffee she made a disgusted face.

"Why did I even get this, it's gross and bitter", she said disgusted with the drink.

"Well it's supposed to be that way", Kazou said.

"Well I don't like it", Suma said.

"You can have mine if you'd like?", Kazou offered, "it has creamer in it".

"Let's trade", Suma said as she switched the cups.

Suma took a drink of Kazou's coffee.

"Is this even the same kind of drink? It's taste is bearable now", Suma exclaimed.

"Well it has creamer in it", Kazou said taking a sip of the plain coffee. As Kazou drank it a sudden awkwardness came over him as he realized his mouth touched the same place Suma's had. He put the drink down as his face redend.

"So um this is your favorite place and you don't like the coffee you got what's up with that?", Kazou asked trying to get his mind off the indirect kiss which Suma didn't seem to notice.

"Well I haven't been here before", Suma said in a quiet voice. "I just am embarrassed about my real place."

"And where is that?", Kazou said. His face was still very red.

"Oh um it's just a manga Cafe haha", Suma said with an awkward laugh. "I just don't want the class to think I'm an Otaku who spends all of her money on manga and stuff y'know".

"But aren't you?", Kazou said without thinking.

"My mom tell you that?", Suma said in a monotone voice.

     "Yeah", Kazou responded.

"Of course she did", Suma said. Kazou wasn't sure if she was talking to him or herself.

"Why should you care what the class thinks though?", Kaozu said still on the subject of her real favorite place.

"You mean the class", Suma asked. Kaziu nodded. "Well it's just like... don't there opinions of you affect you at all?"

"Not one bit", Kazou said. Kazou was very awkward and got embarrassed easily, but he did not care about what his classmates thought of him aside from Toyo.

"Oh, well that's just cuz your weird", Suma said.

"I'm weird?", Kazou asked. He was not aware of this.

"Well you are at a Cafe talking to a girl you just met yesterday and you called me without knowing anything about me" she said. "Most guys don't do that in my experience".

"Well that was so I could know my partner better and to avoid super awkward situations and silence", Kazou said.

"Your pretty weird to", Kazou then said. "Not many girls at our school are giant manga otakus"

"That's not weird I'm just very passionate about my intrest", Suma said.

"If your so passionate why didn't you choose the manga cafe?" Kazou asked.

"I don't know, what if the class laughs at me?" Suma said.

"Why would they?" Kazou asked .

"I don't know", Suma said. "Plus we already have the notes for here so let's just stick with this place.

"Alright" Kazou said. He felt bad that Suma was embarrassed about her intrests.

They spent another hour at the Cafe talking and taking notes, but mainly talking. When they left the Cafe Kazou started to walk home while Suma went to meet Ami somewhere.
