Chapter 01 

It's been a week. 

My brother is home all the time, he is preparing to move to live on campus at his university. His best friend Drew is doing the same, how do I know? Because he's been over almost 24/7 since summer started. I have been hiding in my room. Like, literally hiding. I have been avoiding him because I cannot face him after last week. We have interacted exactly 1 time and he asked me where he can get ice. I looked at him so incredulously. I just walked away without responding. I really think he was just patronizing me. Or pitying me and just wanting to make me feel better.

I have turned off my cell data in order to stop getting notifications of me being tagged in someone's story. It has drastically settled down as people's summer start. My own summer is starting, after this weekend I start my summer cafe job. It's the second summer of me working here! I spent my last summer here and it was amazing! The people I met, the coffee! The teas! There is so much tea to choose from and as a tea lover, I can't help myself. 

That's on Monday though! I told them I am available full time again and they immediately told me yes. I couldn't work during school because my mother sent me to tutors and well she had a very high bar for me to reach in shool. 

Side note is I also can earn my own pocket money! For whatever! Mostly for my own hobbies that my mom refuses to pay for but that's ok. I am just hoping to buy a switch! 

"Kara, we are going to get coffee, you want anything?" the sudden voice flooding my ears as I stand in my kitchen made my heart race. I was getting a snack while I watch anime on my laptop. 

"Can you get me a black tea? I'll pay you back!" my love for tea wouldn't be silenced. Drew smiled and nodded.

"You don't have to pay me back, I am using your brother's card!" his voice was filled with so much happiness how does he do it? How does a person just ooze happiness? Focus. 

"Perfect, thank you!" I said smiling before ducking into the hallway and almost running to my room. My cheeks had to be red right now, I feel the heat. Why do I have a crush on him? Why does his hair have to be brown and curly and just flow effortlessly to the side of his face? How is his smile so bright and his eyes so- 

I need to get over this crush. It will do more bad than good honestly. 

Setting myself up on my bed with my laptop I continued my afternoon of laziness before I heard a knock on my door. My heart didn't let me forget our conversation and I practically ran/fell to the ground to rush to open the door. Which I collected myself before opening the door. 

To my brother. 

"You owe me for this tea, don't forget," he said before shoving the tea in my hands and turning around to his bedroom. Right. Brother dislikes me. For what I don't know. 

I closed the door and continued on my anime adventure, a smile making way to my face because he included me. 

Drew talked to me today. As tough of a time I might be having to get over him, I am glad for these little moments.
