Chapter 50:

The Happiness

How Not to Be a Medium

I woke up surprised that Tristan wasn't next to me, but one glance at my phone was enough for me to realize why. I smiled to myself, it was obvious that in his own way, he was helping Zoey prepare for my birthday and our anniversary surprise party. Unfortunately, the poor guy had spilled it earlier and was now struggling with remorse, fearing our friend's reaction if she found out.

I didn't want to be mean, so I decided to make things a little easier for them and leave the house for the day. However, I wanted to tease them and announce that I would be back late, but pretend that I had decided to come back earlier. It's a little punishment for throwing me a surprise party. I didn't like this kind of party, but at the same time, it was so nice in my heart, because I felt happy and loved. Whatever they come up with, I would be grateful to them for everything.

However, I was bored all day and had nothing to do. I sat in the cafe for a while and studied, I wandered around the shops, but nothing caught my eye. I sighed heavily and looked at my watch, even picking up a book to read, but even that didn't keep me drawn in long enough. I changed and did my makeup in the bathroom at the mall, even though I knew that if I came back dressed, Zoey would start to suspect something, that I had guessed what they were up to.

It's my party, I had a right to look good at it, right? When I got home, I had to constantly remind myself to be surprised, but I had a hard time concocting a spectacular reaction. I spotted another car in front of our house and smiled, so there will be visitors. I wonder who they attracted and how they will manage to combine the event on a human and spiritual level at the same time. I wanted to see everyone.

Of course, Zoey had asked me to tell her when they were coming back, on the pretext that she would make me tea then and start planning a movie marathon, but I didn't. Instead, I quietly opened the door, hoping no one would see me. I looked at the human assembly, which was discussing something lively in the decorated drawing room. Zoey, who strangely argued with Sebastian about something, Lily was ready to defend him, and poor Thomas was a bit terrified of all this.

And among the spirits it was a bit calm, Ronald was sitting in the corner and he noticed me first, I put my finger to my lips, asking for silence. He nodded knowingly and smiled. His wife was talking to Cee Cee, joking happily. Tristan looked over everything with a nervous expression, I shook my head, he was too concerned.

"Surprise!" I shouted, drawing everyone's attention to me. Zoey almost had a heart attack when she heard me, and I could see that she was furious with me at first, but then she threw herself into my arms with good wishes.

"Cake!" she called suddenly and disappeared into the kitchen.

I accepted the wishes of the others and even let myself wear a stupid triangle hat. I had a great time and was extremely grateful for everything. Both the cake and the food Zoey arranged for were delicious. Cee Cee and Judy were watching Thomas, who needed to get a little used to the spiritual aura, looking very curious and pleased. The fairy must have foreseen something, probably sharing it with her new friend. The doctor, however, asked me to speak privately for a moment, so we went out into the garden.

"I'm sorry it's on your birthday, but I'd like to ask you for help soon," he said quietly, blushing like a teenager talking about his love.

"Sure," I said. "What is it about?"

"I'd like to propose to Zoey, I know you're her closest friend and I'm bad at planning things like this and need some help."

"You have my blessing," I smiled. "And a few ghosts, by the way." Of course, all the dead guests came to overhear.

"I'm honored."

Thomas smiled in relief, and I suggested we go back inside quickly before they start wondering where half the partygoers have gone. I couldn't have heard better news, I was sure that everything would be fine for her. Helping with her wedding will be fun, I chuckled to myself.

I noticed that Tristan was looking at me as if he wanted to kidnap me just for himself for a while, but at the same time, he knew that it was not very appropriate to do so since we were having a party. I walked over to him and said we could talk for a while in the bedroom alone. He agreed but asked me to give him a moment's head start. He was waiting for me there with a gift of a necklace he was probably working on again with Zoey.

"It's beautiful," I said and proudly put it around my neck. "Thank you."

"I'm glad you like it." He smiled. "Cami, can I ask you one question?" I nodded my head and cuddled up to him. "Are you truly happy?"

"I couldn't be more happy than I am," I whispered. "Tristan, can I say one thing?" He agreed without hesitation. "I love you, my ghost."

"I love you too, my medium."
