Suspicions

Genji's Pov:

 "You sure about losing your memory, Nicholas?" I looked confused at the lady's words "Nicholas? Who's that?" She heaved a sigh "I guess I got the wrong person... Or it's because of your memory loss. Can you tell me how you did you meet my daughter?" I surely couldn't tell the real story so I just mentioned the meeting part "I woke up in that forest not knowing anything about this place when monsters attacked me and got me injured. I lost consciousness from the pain and bleeding and when I woke up I found that she was who saved me. Also, she gave me the name Gin since I don't remember mine." The woman seemed in deep thought till Leonard came "Mom, I'm here to help" "Oh, thanks. Gin, you can go and rest in Brenda's room and ask her to prepare you a bath." I wanted to ask her what was wrong but I felt it was not right for me to ask now.

  I was about to leave when I heard Leonard talking "So you noticed?" "I'm your mother, how can I not notice... But it just doesn't feel right. How can Brenda awaken that lost cursed magic like this? There's a mark on her neck proving the achievement, but the circumstances don't add up." Leonard sighed "Actually I disliked that brat because I sensed something abnormal whenever he and Brenda are next to each other... That scary presence of power declaring "This is mine don't touch it". I was convinced that it was from the kid so I thought he might be a demon obsessed with my sister but in the forest, I was proven wrong. Mom, are you sure Brenda and that child never met before?   I felt bad about eavesdropping yet I couldn't help but hear what they were talking about. I just got used to a few things in this new world and I heard more new confusing and interesting things. So... Do I look like Nicholas who they are looking for? And could Lucine be the leader of the knights who cut my arm and leg? So he isn't a bad guy after all... yet he really overdid it. Just remembering that encounter makes me shiver... Glad I lost consciousness fast and Brenda healed the wounds and pain after that so I didn't have to suffer for long... Speaking of the latter, why are they sure she is a demon? Is it related to the mana boost Aunt Lila mentioned during the duel? Thinking about it like that won't be of any use. I need to focus on my main task here Back to the day of the knights' attack... Edd called and said if I finish the task I'll get a reward and I had two tasks, since Brenda is bathing I can grab the chance to check my phone.

 I went to Brenda's room which I was sleeping in for the past few days and looked for my phone. I'm glad that I clean with her every day and put it in a spot nobody can notice. Checking the task list after turning it on, I found a claimable reward. I was so curious about what kind of reward was there since it was something useful to heal my injury last time, but what about this time? Typing on the first task I got a heart-shaped key 'A key? So the other task is gonna give me a box or a chest then?' I thought. To my dismay, it gave me a map and a new task appeared "Follow the map to find the treasure chest and retrieve the ancient relic."

  I stood in my place looking at the map which seemed like children drawing and the key and I really got angry. What kind of game is this man trying to pull me into now? The phone vibrated indicating a new message which was from Edd "Sorry for not calling in a while but I had a lot in hand recently. Just a piece of advice: Don't look far away, things you are looking for might be just a step from you."
 I got confused by the message then I brushed it "I'm sure it's like those morals in games that help you deal with the next task or puzzles when another message appeared "Also don't forget to check on your friend. Who knows, maybe she is struggling somehow."

Brenda's POV:

  I was in the water thinking about what happened earlier. I got defeated by Leo sadly because I forgot that he masters both fire and light magic spells... Mainly that annoying light magic spell that cancels other spells. But it's not important now... The important thing is I got my Gin back. It's been bothering me the way I asked him not to forget me forever selfishly... I'm sure he had a hard time thanks to the way I died and my last words... Damn, my mouth! I thought that I should say the same words mom said to dad before she died and he still remembers her and I didn't want to be forgotten... Thinking twice now I find it was awful to say that... Instead, I should have just wished him happiness and asked him to forget about me! Why did I get affected a lot by the dramas I always watched while I was bedridden? But everything is fine now, I'm sure it's Gin. I don't know why I couldn't remember before, but today when he said I can do it, it triggered something in my memory from over ten years ago and somehow that pendant started looking familiar. I don't have every single memory and I'm sure he doesn't either, that's why he can't remember me. But does it mean he also died 6 years ago? Does this place have the same soul society cycle of life? If it's like that then if I die here I'll be reincarnated to our original world for another time? It's an interesting theory but I'm not ready to try it tho... I might end up in another third world or not have the next life... What if my previous mother got reincarnated here too? But there's no way I can know her... I never saw her before she died and I can't be sure she has her memory from her past life... All I know about her is that I looked like her.
I drowned myself inside the water trying to relax and stop my mind from working. As I tried to get my head off the water something pulled me down with force. I struggled desperately to get my head to the surface yet to no avail. I opened my eyes to see what was it and a sense of horror crept on my whole body. Who was pulling me down the water and drowning me was a girl around my age with orange bright eyes and ashen black hair... But what was really scary is the fact that this person is identical to me in my previous life.

Genji's POV:
The last message startled me "Struggling? Brenda went to shower so why would she be struggling?" I stood from my place looking around the room when I noticed the mirror Brenda had in our first meeting. Remembering how she took something out of it, my curiosity led me to try touching it when a shadow of someone appeared in it "Boy, Brenda is in great danger. Please save her." After those words, the shadow disappeared and only my reflection left. I tried to touch the mirror again but it was normal glass. I couldn't understand how Brenda is in danger so I decided to check on her.
I knocked on the bathroom door and worry filled me when there was no answer for a long time... In the end, I decided to break in with force only to find the girl unconscious inside the water.
