An Unexpected Collaboration

“Ahhhh !!!”

We run outside the church to discover a horrible lava monster who has lava dripping on the ground that disintegrates it. We can see the panic in just one sight, people are either running in all directions, either screaming, either hiding.

“Iris we have to do something !”

“Yes but it’s too dangerous Kanael, I don’t want you to get hurt.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be careful, I won’t get hurt.”

Lovy sits on my right shoulder and she is shaking.

“Lovy ?”

“This type of monster only appears once every 100 years, it usually kills a lot of people, often more than one hundred people, before getting killed. I think we should wait for other knights to come.”

“It would be a good idea but Lovy, I’m the only knight here, even if we call other knights for help, I don't think they'll arrive in time, we have to stop it now.”

“But we’ve only met, I’m not strong enough to help you.”

“It’s okay Lovy, you just have to root for me.”

Lovy gets watery eyes then I stroke her very tiny head.

Iris comes up with a suggestion.

“We should think about a plan.”

“I know but I want to hit it right now to see how strong he is.”

“Kanael, I’ve just told you we need to make a plan.”

The monster is moving towards three children.

“Iris we don’t have the time for that !”

I run towards the three children, two girls and one boy. I slide and stand between them and the horrible lava monster. I try to protect the children behind me by putting the sword in front of me. The three children are shaking.

“Kids, are you okay ?”

“Yes…”

“Don’t worry, I’m here.”

“Mister !”

The children are afraid and crying, they hold my feet with their little hands.

I have to protect them with all my might.

I can feel the hot burning breath of the monster on my skin who is turning red.

It’s too hot, I don't know if I can hold out for long, I feel like I’m going to burn little by little.

I try to hit it but the blade of my sword cuts through the body of the monster, it shocks me.

“It can't be true ! How am I going to fight it if I can’t even hit it !”

Iris is worrying about me.

“Kanael, don’t get too close to it ! I’ve never heard of such a monster ! Be careful !”

It is hard to breathe, the breath of the monster makes me suffocate, my vision blurs.

“What am I going to do ?!”

One of the children, a little girl, taps my leg.

“Mister, you’re going to save us from the monster, right ?”

She’s so cute.

“Yes, you don’t have to worry.”

I clench my teeth.

“Iris ! Take the children with you, please !”

“Okay ! Kids, come here !”

The boy shouts.

“No, we want to stay with you !”

“You’ll be safe if you go with her, she will protect you.”

The children run towards Iris who takes them into the church then she crouches down and takes the children into her arms.

“It’s gonna be okay, you just have to root for the knight. Okay ?”

The three children speak at the same time. “Yes !”

Great, now I can concentrate but I don’t feel good at all.

“Ha…Ha… I didn’t even start fighting that I’m already losing.”

I can’t hit it but maybe the sword can suck it up right away.

The blade of my sword touches the monster and I press the button to suck it up but the lava doesn't get sucked up. Lovy comes toward me.

“It seems that this lava’s type is different from the one of the little lava monsters so your sword can’t suck it up directly.”

“So what am I going to do ?”

“Maybe your sword could suck it up from the inside.”

“From the inside ?!”

“Yes, if you could put the blade of your sword inside the monster through its mouth, maybe you could suck it up.”

“But I’m going to lose my arm if I do that.”

“Try protecting yourself with your bubbles.”

“Bulles de joie !”

My bubbles burst when they encounter the hot burning heat.

“Damn, I can’t even use my power. Even if I use other techniques, the bubbles won’t last.”

While we are thinking about a way to beat the monster Iris notices something.

“Damn ! There’s someone under the lava monster ! If we leave him here a few more seconds he’s going to die.”

I feel helpless. “There’s nothing I can do.”

I hear a sound coming from the sky, I turn my head upwards. Peachi is on Yogan’s back, he grabs his shirt with his left hand and clenches his left fist.

“I hope nothing happened to Kanael.”

Peachi looks at me from above.

“Kanael ! Kanael !”

Peachi jumps from Yogan’s back before she lands.

“Kanael, are you okay ?!”

Yogan lands on the ground and roars with anger.

“Peachi, for now yes I’m okay. We have an idea to beat the monster but it’s going to be complicated, I could lose my arm.”

“You won’t have to, I know what to do, this is even why I came with Yogan.”

“What do you mean ?”

“Let me explain my plan.”

Peachi told me his plan and now we are going to implement it.

Peachi asks. “Are you ready ? You have to be fast and concentrate.”

“Yes, I’m ready.”

I won’t fail.

Peachi puts his right hand on my left arm and his left hand on my right arm.

“Hand Paint !”

Colorful paint covers my arms and gets tough.

“Now your arms are protected.”

He looks at Iris.

“Iris.”

“Yes, Aqua Auréole !”

Yogan throws water at the monster, the heat evaporates and the lava stops disintegrating the ground.

“Now your turn, Kanael !”

“Yes !”

I thrust my sword into the mouth of the monster.

“Suck it up !!!”

The space in my sword is now filled, I take out my sword.

“There’s too much lava, I need something to store it.”

The three children bring big bowls.

“You’re courageous, thank you.”

I empty my sword into the three bowls.

Now I just have to do it all over again and again, until I beat the monster.

Lovy is looking at me.

“Kanael is losing too much energy, I have to use my power to protect him.”

“But Lovy you said earlier that you can’t use your power yet.”

“I know but if I concentrate I can use some power.”

“Liebe Power !”

A reddish halo surrounds me completely.

I feel my energy coming back and I feel like I can’t get hurt anymore.

“It’s the moment to finish this fight !”

The monster is weakened, he does not move anymore, the sword sucks up the last amount of lava. The monster finally disappeared and left a little lava monster on the ground and the person that was hurt.

I look at the little lava monster. “Oh you’re so cute.”

Iris helps the person that was under the monster.

“Are you okay ?”

“I thought I was going to die.”

He is crying. “Thank you so much.”

“It’s nothing.”

I take the little lava monster in my arms.

“Kanael, what are you doing ?!”

“I don’t know, I felt like I had to do that. It’s like a baby that has lost his parents. I can’t explain it but I just can’t leave it alone !”

I am about to fall but I stop myself by putting my right leg in front of me.

“Don’t you see, it doesn’t attack, it looks innocent so I’m going to bring it with me no matter what you say or think.”

Iris seems sad.

“Kanael…”

Peachi takes me to Yogan.

“Alright, then let’s get on Yogan’s back.”

“Okay, let’s go.”

Peachi rides Yogan, I sit behind him holding the little lava monster, I put my head on Peachi’s back then fall asleep.

“Kanael, you’re really a weird person but it’s true the monster doesn’t attack, and you’re cute by the way.”

We are back at the office, I still hold the little lava monster that seems to have fallen asleep.

“Kanael, I know you are tired but there’s something you have to do.”

“Ah ? Whatever, if I can rest.”

Peachi take a serious tone.

"You have now one of the most important missions to accomplish. Will you be able to survive what awaits you ?"
