Chapter 16:

Big Bad Bear

Ashes of War

"So here is the plan."

Everybody gathered at the bar.

"We will divide into two teams. Shin will come with me to the hotel, we'll disguise as hotel staff and go after Grizzly. The rest will be our distiraction team at casino," Takahiro pointed the casino at the map.

"Gina will start a fire, so casino staff can evacuate all the civilians. Then everybody gonna enter the casino and make some noise. You'll have 5 minutes before leaving the area. Don't take any risks."

"What about guards?" asked one of the JGSA soldiers. Shin took the speech.

"We confirmed they're all connected to Iron Fist. The whole casino belongs to him, probably to earn a steady income."

"So you can kill them all however you want," Takahiro spoke again. "There'll be two vehicles waiting for you outside, black vans. You'll leave before the cops show up. Five minutes are more than enough to take care of Grizzly. Everything clear?"

"Yessir!" said everybody in unison.

"Good. Your outfits are in the vans. Get ready and go, we'll give you the starting signal."

After everyone dispersed, only Shin and Takahiro stayed in the room.

"Do you think everything will be fine?" asked Shin.

"It's what I hope. Come on, let's get going."

They took the black sedan and drove to the hotel. Their research was completed. They knew what Grizzly looks like and that was all they needed.

Grizzly was a bulky man, he had a wrestler-like build. He had ginger hair and a beard. There was a roaring brown bear tattoo on his chest.

After a while, Takahiro pulled the car over next to the hotel. They left the car and entered the building.

"Where was the package?" asked Takahiro silently.

"Room 207."

As they approached the reception, Shin did the talking. They took the key of their room and headed upstairs. After some walk, they found their room.

"Here it is," said Shin as he opened the door. There was a package waiting them on the bed. "Come on, let's get changing."

Now they were all ready. They wore the same clothes as hotel staff, a silk-red uniform patterned with white diamond tiles, a red tie and black pants.

Takahiro and Shin left the room. As Takahiro took his phone out, Shin went down the stairs and found the fuse box. Then he turned the switch down and took the fuse with him. At the same time, Takahiro already sent the signal to the others.

Shin rushed up the stairs and met with Takahiro on 4th floor. They took their pistols out and installed their suppressors. A tactical flashlight was already attached to their pistols.

They silently moved upstairs and started cleaning the hallway. Enemy were almost completely blinded by the flashlights, and before they could tell, they were already dead.

As they cleaned the rooms one by one, nobody were aware of anything. Police sirens drowned out all the sound, but none of them were targeting that hotel. Takahiro and Shin became the grim reaper at that very moment. They were silent, fast, and deadly.

After the last room, Takahiro went back to the hallway. He didn't find Grizzly, which meant Shin had found him. But then, Shin also showed up in the hallway.

"Did you find him?" asked Shin.

"No. I thought you find him."

"Nope. Was the information we received wrong?"

"I don't think so. Maybe it's just the timing. He must have left the hotel before us."

"Then he should be at the casino right now. Maybe others took him down already."

"It could be, let's get out of here, it's been almost 5 minutes."

They headed for the stairs, but suddenly, Takahiro was punched very hard. Without even realising it, same man grabbed Shin by his shoulder, and a cracking sound was heard. The entire hotel echoed with a scream of pain.

"Where are you going, the party has just begun."

Takahiro tried to find his pistol. He followed the light, but Grizzly had already grabbed him by his leg. Then something sharp pierced Takahiro's leg. He groaned with pain.

"You're not going anywhere. You'll be feeding my dagger with your blood tonight," laughed the man like crazy. Suddenly, a gun shot was heard. And again, and again.

Shin found and took a gun from the ground, then shot Grizzly three times. But Grizzly didn't fell down. Maybe because of the pain, Shin missed his vital organs. What worse is, he ran out of ammo.

But Takahiro found enough time to reach his pistol. He crawled on the ground and picked it up. He turned his face to Grizzly, and took the shot.

Just before the dagger found his target, Grizzly stopped moving. That was a clear shot. After some struggle, he finally fell to the ground.

"You're only a human in the end," grumbled Takahiro. He was too tired after that little fight. That punch was way too strong, he roughly managed to stay awake.

Shin ran towards Takahiro and lifted him back to his feet. He got under his arm to support him standing.

"Are you allright?"

"I'm alive," smirked Takahiro.

"Well, that's something. Let's get out of here before the cops show up."

They slowly left the hotel from the rear entrance. Because of the gun shots hotel was completely empty, but there wasn't enough time for them to change their clothes back. After a little walk, Shin laid Takahiro down.

"I'll take the car. You wait here."

"I don't think I can move, though."

Few minutes later, Shin came back with the car and took Takahiro. Then they returned back to the bar.

As they went inside, everybody was waiting for them allready. There were a few wounded soldier, but none of them were as serious as Shin and Takahiro's wounds.

"It seems like everything's gone fine," said Takahiro.

"Yeah, we left the casino safely. We used smoke grenades before leaving, so they didn't even realise it."

"I guess it was successful without any civilian casualties," said Takahiro and tried to laugh, but coughed instead.

"Uh, I better get some rest."
