Chapter 9:

River's moonlight

I am the heroine

Jake reveals something shocking. Stella never imagined this rebellious 15 years old is actually anxious . Well, in her original world that she used to live in she could imagine that there is something else behind that smile of his, but here she never imagined it. Jake talks about his mother. Jake says, "I have been seeing a dream...in that dream... Well...my mom was really someone I liked a lot and loved a lot...you know I had  a big wish. I wanted to sing on stage. But she didn't approve of it. That day I went to some place angry at my mom, and the next time...it caught fire. She died. I know...it's just a dream but...why did I cry after I woke up? What if this is a forgotten part of my memory?" Stella watched him let his emotions out and tearing up Infront of everyone. Rowl said, " Maybe this is just a way of the teachers to test how weak or strong we are...maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the actual reality?" Sam from the neighboring room was also listening to him. He comforted him. While everyone was doing something comforting Stella just sat there looking at him saying nothing.

In the evening, someone knocked the door of Jake's room. "Who is it?", said Jake with a shaky voice. "Maybe I should come later", Stella said with a voice of empathy." "No it's okay..." , the boy replied. Jake was sitting at the corner of the room looking at the window. It was raining. He felt like he was missing something. Is that dream a part of his forgotten memory? He wondered. Stella quietly sat beside him and took a deep breath. "So do you like singing?" Jake looked at her surprisingly as he thought she would either show sympathy or laugh at him. "Well...I don't know. I never tried. At least not after coming to this place. I totally forgot who I was before that so...", he shrugged. "Ok so we are going somewhere then!", Stella said. Before Jake could even say something she grabbed his hand and took him by a little river. The rain was almost gone by that time and the moon was shining so brightly over them. The sky was blooming and glowing with pretty stars all over. She got to know about this river from Ms. Ru in the morning. They sat down on the bank of the river. Birds were chirping and beautiful cricket sounds were there too. "Hey...this is actually pretty " , Jake said awestruck. "I know right", she said. "But why are we here?" Stella smiles at him and looks at him. Jake feels a weird happiness in his stomach but it felt so good. Stella asks him to sing with her and also teaches him some singing technique. It has been like two weeks since they came here and they started being annoyed with each other but  Jake started to grow a deep respect for her at this point, not being sure of what this feeling is.

"Hey can we talk , please?", someone speaks from behind them. Stella and Jake looks behind.
