Soul Bond

Alet tries to cast a spell and it works, the spell still works like in the real world. She cast her favorite spell, fireball.

“Hahaha. You think that is enough to stop me? Take this!” The monster swung her sword.

Alet dodge it and tries to run closer toward Io. The monster didn’t stop there, she kept blocking Alet’s path towards Io and they started to fight. Since the monster is Alet’s reflection, she can do whatever Alet can do like casting a spell. After a while Alet gets hit by the monster sword. She fell to the side.

“Let’s end this!” The monster casting a meteor spell.

The spell casted faster than Alet’s normal speed. Soon a giant meteor fell from the sky.

“Get crushed Alet just like you crushed your partner!” The monster smiled as she saw the meteor fall.

“This is it, I guess this is the end. I come all the way here just to get defeated by my own peak. I should have heard what Io told me.” Alet closes her eyes accepting her journey that is about to come to an end.

Suddenly, the ground started shaking. A powerful wind blowing followed by a loud roaring sound. The meteor was destroyed into pieces and the ground started to crack. Alet’s peak confuses and looks behind her where the sound is coming from. A rakshasa emerges from the ground. With scary glaring eyes and two pairs of long fangs, the rakshasa stares at Alet’s peak. She roared back at the rakshasa and both of them started to fight each other.

“That must be the reaper, this is my change.” Alet sees this opportunity to get to Io but she still struggles to move since the ground is shaking constantly.

Once she gets to grab Io, she starts to move toward the portal that Reine created for them. But the reaper got mad and started to open his mouth. It creates a powerful force that absorbs everything near it. Alet’s peak tried to escape from the powerful force but she got sucked inside it and consumed by the reaper.

“Ughhh… Not like this. I lost some of my strength already. I must hold Io’s body.” Her grip started to loosen up.

The reaper continues to open his mouth since he sees two souls beneath him. He will not close his mouth until he can consume both souls. Alet tries to keep her grip with the thread created by Reine and her other hand grabs Io by his hand. Later, she lost her grip and Io's soul went to the reaper’s mouth.

“Io!” She screams and starts to run toward him.

“Why, why, why! Why is it always like this… My past… My life… Always ended up like this…” Her eyes filled with tears as she ran as fast as she could.

“If I could wish for one last time… I want to see his face one last time. Please wake up for me.” She pulls out her hand and jumps towards the reaper mouth, trying to reach Io.

On the other end. Io is dreaming. He saw a white figure with a beautiful cloak made with silk with a gold accent walking toward him.

“Hey! You must be Io, right?” Asked the white figure.

“Yes. Where am I? Who are you?”.

“Before I answer that question of yours. I’m going to ask you first, are you sure you want to follow me?”.

“I don’t know. Where will you take me?”.

“Well to the Afterlife. The only beautiful place for all kinds of souls to rest. Now, are you sure to follow me?”.

“Huh? That means I’m dead already. If I don’t want to follow you. What is my option?”.

“Hmpp… Your only option is to follow me or you can walk back through that door.” The white figure points his finger to their right side.

“I have to go back. I feel it. Whatever is waiting for me through that door but I can feel I have to go there.” Io stood up from the grass field where he just woke up.

“Very well. This is not your time yet. Go on, just remember. We will meet again.”.

Io nod with a smile and run through the grass field. Arriving at the door, he looks back to the white figure. He waves at him as he enters the door. Io hands started to glow and a glowing thread shot out from his hand. Alet is shocked as the thread connects to her other hand.

“Pull me Alet!” A familiar voice is heard from inside the reaper’s mouth.

Alet pulls the thread and she sees Io.

“Io! Oh how much I miss you. I thought I had lost you for real.” Alet hugs him really tight.

“Haha yeah.”.

The reaper roars and the force gets stronger.

“Alet. Let's get out of here.” Says Io as he started to climb the thread from Alet’s other hand.

Both of them made it to the portal and entered it. After walking through the portal, they started to hear a cheering crowd. They open their eyes and remember that they are still in the middle of the fight.

“Wake up sunshine.” Reine shakes Io’s body.

“And we got our winner. The Angkara!” The announcer said it loud as the crowd started to cheer.

Soon the confetti went off and a beautiful pink flower started to rain from the air.

“What is this? What is happening?” Alet is confused.

“I… rather said it after everyone is out of here.” Reine raises Alet’s hand.

After everyone went back to the changing room. Io has to be brought out with the medical team. Outside, an ambulance was already waiting for their arrival. The ambulance starts to take off and bring them to Neon City, the heart of the Living Circle. After about a half hour flight, the ambulance lands at a special hospital.

“Ah Reine. Looks like we have a patient here.” A woman with a bunny-like trait already waiting for their arrival.

“Yep. Couldn’t bring him to the normal hospital.”.

“And this girl?”.

“This is Alet, Io’s wife. And Alet, this is Dr. Nana.” Reine introduces Alet to the woman with the bunny-like trait.

“Hi nice to meet you. Don’t worry. Your husband is on the right hand.” She pulls out her hand.

“Wife? Husband? What is happening here?” Alet shakes her hand and is confused.

“Alright, let’s brim him inside.”.

They start to enter the building. They stopped at Dr. Nana’s doors.

“Alright. I want you to read and sign this first.” Dr. Nana gives them a tablet full of information.

Io and Alet read what was inside. It was an agreement to perform the operation for Io’s broken fingers. It also said that Io will give a special implant to his finger bones.

“Doctor. Is this implant safe? I mean it is a robotic skeleton.” Alet asked with a worried tone.

“100% safe. Oh also call me Nana okay? I like to be called by my name. Don’t worry about it though. The device will be connected to the Io’s hand cells. Later, the cells will grow back around the device. Since Io is a Siluma, we should not worry since he got the best regeneration among other races. If you agree you can sign it here.” Nana points where Alet can sign for agreement.

“What about the payment? It is very expensive I believe.” Alet getting worried.

“Don’t worry, I already paid for it.” Said Reine.

“Io… Are you okay with this?” Alet asked Io.

“Well I’m good. In fact we Silumas can’t repair a broken bone. We only recover small injuries like being cut by a knife. How about you?”.

“Okay, I’ll sign it here.” Seeing no other option, she signs the agreement and hands it back to Nana.

“Great, please wait in the waiting room.”.

Alet and Reine walk toward the waiting room.

“So uhh… Can I ask what happened?” Alet asks Reine as they sit down.

“This is what happened.”.

“No, I mean, you called me Io’s wife and the flowers at the arena. What is it?”.

“Aren’t that what you wanted? Why do you want to divorce already?”.

“No… That is not what I mean. Since when?”.

“Since you came out from the edge of Afterlife.”.

“But that… is dangerous. Something can go south at any moment.”.

“But it didn’t happen, right? That is the way… our way. Only the immortals do that though. Now come on, be happy. All you wish comes true.”.
