Chapter 2:

Prologue 2

The Secret Elevator

They say that there's a secret elevator in an old, abandoned building that leads to 'Nowhere'.

Wait, that isn't right.

That's how 'Prologue 1' began, with the exact same opening phrase. 'They say'. There I was, trying to sound smart by stating, "Don't base your experiences on others instead of your own self." I might need to change that and create another prologue.

Prologue 3, perhaps? There's nothing wrong with that, right? Readers do enjoy prologues. They provide better explanations.

Maybe I'll suggest to the author to write a book full of them. It could be titled: 'The Book of Only Prologues'. It's new, fresh, and I doubt anyone has done this before.

It sounds pretty cool if you think about it. It could be called the 'ProBook'.

At that point, Mr. Author stood up, gave a deep bow, and began heading towards the exit. He coldly said, 'Thanks for having me and for your hard work,' then opened the door in an attempt to leave the apartment. He glanced back at me and, with a sign – seeming full of regret – he made his exit. I followed suit and ran after him while trying to explain the situation, promising I'll stop saying random stuff – which, in fact, weren't random at all. I managed to persuade him to return and listen to the rest of my story.

The truth is, I tried to delay the inevitable for a little bit longer. The less you know about these stories, the better. The danger was just too much to even start comprehending, and we were lucky to even manage to come back alive.

Some of us, at least...

And now, with no further ado, delay, or procrastination, let's proceed with the story.

For real this time...
