Chapter 3:
My Life As A Light Novel Writer – First Arc.
Suddenly when I was about to see was inside the backpack Sayuri came saying that Murakami was calling us to calling us to the club room.
“I'll show it when we’re all in the club.”
“Okay" - I replied.
We went in the club in a hurry, I was curious to see what was in that backpack and why Murakami was calling us.
“Sorry for the delay.” - I apologized as I opened the door.
“Don’t worry, I don’t waited much.”
“So, what you want to talk about president?”
“About how we write our light novel”
“About that I already have some manga to use as reference for our novel” - said Makoto while pulled out of his backpack some Mangas which were what caused the backpack to increase in size.
“Why manga instead of light novels?” - asked Murakami.
“it’s easier to write something if we can see exactly what the author wants to show, and all this mangas are based on light novels.”
“But sometimes the team that produces the manga may have cut parts of the original work to focus on certain events to fit in pre-set quantity, but I'm not sure, it’s really the best format to have as a base?” - what had worried her.
“Don’t worry I researched and this mangas perfectly adapt their original works.” - he complemented.
“Right, now let’s define the structure of the story” - while writing on whiteboard - “conflicts, places, motivations etc...” - Turned in our direction.
“So why don’t we do a romance school novel focused on the point of view of the male protagonist? Them meeting in class, creating a reason to the stay together and show their motivations?” - suggested Makoto.
“That! They can go to places together and gradually fell in love.” suggested Sayuri excited.
“It could be, let’s do it!” - Murakami agreed with his hand on chin.
“Now let’s decide our tasks” - said Murakami standing in front of the whiteboard.
“Who wants to do the drawings?”
“Do you have drawings in a light novel?” - Asked Sayuri with sparkling eyes.
“They have, do you want draw them “
Then I'd like to!”
“And now wants to be the reviewer “
“I want! I would like to evaluate with all my knowledge” - Makoto said proudly.
“I'll be the writer”- “Harumi said, taking upon herself to be the writer.
“But there’s going to be the role of assistant for you Susumu, okay “
“Alright” - confirmed uninterested in what position I would have, I just wanted to write something.
"But first let’s exchange our contact info"– suggested Harumi and we exchanged contact info, and I realized that Murakami’s profile was a stuffed panda and I thought it was cute.
We agreed that it would be another weekend and She would take us in her car. And our meeting point would be the entrance gate of the school.
“So, soon we will go to the beach but another day. today we will write” - so it was decided.
I went to school the next day and soon we started writing and while we were writing on our computers borrowed by the computer teacher, Makoto suggested an interesting way we could write our story - “Hey guys why don’t you write a little bit about your experiences to make it a little more interesting “
“It might be, I'll think of something later” - Harumi said as she thought in concentration.
“We are running out of paper I'll get more” - and leaves the room.
Sayuri also got up and went to help him “guys I'm going to help Makoto carry. We're going to need a lot since we will need to print a copy for each juror”.
“Okay, while the president and I stayed here writing.”
“Better go before he drops all the paper on the floor.” - Murakami warned.
“True!” - she agreed and ran out of the room leaving the door ajar.
“Don't run in the hallway” - she warned again.
While we were writing she asked “Why don’t we go buy some light novels after the club “ I stopped writing and asked looking at her” why? are the mangas that Makoto brought are not good “
“it’s not like that, it's just in manga you can know the beginning, middle and end because of the illustrations and the light novels we have just some of them. I want to know how the authors can structure their story to use as inspiration to our novel”.
“Now I understand.”
the moment that she stopped to talk the smile disappeared and she looked away blushing.
“President now I have a question have you read light novels?”
“No, my parents never let me read these books.”
“So how do you know so much about light novels “
“I read some online, but I like the physical volumes better, but my parents they wouldn't let me read they said that there was no content that brought knowledge.” - when she finished speaking seems she had realize her own words and quickly said now my parents let me read light novels, as long I get good grades, but I don’t have time to read lately.”
“But what are your reasons for joining the literature club “
“i like the way how descriptive novels are and I wanted to know how is to write one”
“Me too.”
Makoto and Sayuri came back and put the two piles over the table.
“Welcome back you two” - said Harumi.
“let's wrap up for today guys.”
“why?“ - asked Sayuri.
“Because I and Susumu are going to buy some light novels to use for reference.”
and the mangas I borrowed – Makoto asks confused.
“I must know better how the writing on a light novel works And I going to buy some with Susumu now.” explained Murakami.
“If you two want to come along with us...” - I try to invite them to come along.
“No thanks” - Makoto refuses before I can even finish talking.
“Better leave this job to him, isn’t, Sayuri “
I let out a sigh knowing that I would have to carry a great weight.
Murakami chuckles as if she knows what I'm thinking.
“Speaking of work president, can you pass me the pen drive with the files that have already been written and checked so I can have a look?” - ask Makoto.
“Of Course.”- giving him the flash drive.
“And Sayuri I already send to you the part of the text that I would like you to do an illustration, don't worry there is enough description but if you have any questions send a message.”
“Okay, I'm going to start drawing tonight.” - She replied excitedly.
“Well, it’s time to go, bye!” - Harumi says goodbye.
I and Harumi go to a bookstore.
