The Syndell

Other people too were gathered in the hall were standing keeping the eyes closed.

Seems like the prayer or the hymn is being dedicated and people are praying while listening to it.

I felt very peaceful in this atmosphere.

I then saw that there were also rooms built on the side of this main chamber.

Some had a priest standing in front of the door, while others were not guarded and people were going and coming freely.

I decided to explore these rooms.

Most of these had similar smaller halls to the main one but the statues or the idols were different.

Seems like the religion here is polytheistic in nature.

To my surprise there were even gods and goddesses with non human characteristics.

There were statues of beastmen gods, elves gods, dwarves gods and even some with wings or horns.

There were all kinds of statues placed in different rooms.

And the people worshipping them were also mixed.

Sadly, even though there were statues of elves and dwarves gods and goddesses here, the races of the devotees were humans and beast men or mix only.

Here too I did not get to see an elf Onee san at all.

I enjoyed the choir in the main chamber.

It seems that the 3 statues in the main chamber are the ones who are worshiped by every race and are the main gods of this world.

But that was only my perspective from how things seemed.

I didn’t see any demon shaped god. Or maybe the one with the horns was the one.

I don’t know.

But there didn’t seem any idol with an evil face.

Seems like my prejudice due to reading novels, runs deeps against demons.

I will take care not to come out as a racist if I ever meet them.

The first floor was a balcony type sitting area for people in case the ground floor was full.

The balcony had a clear view of the ground floor from there just like a theater.

There was also a second floor to the church. But it was not accessible from anywhere it seems.

Apart from the open balcony, all the rooms were closed on the first floor too. The view from the balcony was quite the site though.

I was enjoying my tour quite a lot and I forgot my purpose of coming here ie. if possible, pray to that goddess and try to talk to her.

But the thing is the goddess I talked too had no face, it was only light manifested in a body of female form so I don’t know which one she was.

But my guess is she might be the central Goddess shown in the main chamber. Should I try praying to her.

When I returned to the main chamber, the prayer had ended and people were sitting on the benches.

The old priest was giving a sermon while standing on the podium.

I decided to take a seat at the end quietly.

They say that gods are fond of people who love them and don’t ask them for something in return.

Although while I was meeting the goddess I did wished for skills and such, but now I only want to meet her for the sake of talking.

Maybe she will answer me if I meditate here.

I closed my eyes. The priest’s sermon spoken in soft voice almost served as a nice lullaby.

I just let myself drift in the feeling without resisting anything.

Suddenly there was a lot of pressure applied on my head and I started going in a semi unconscious zone.

I starting hearing white noise like that of radio tuning.

It was such surreal experience and I knew if I resisted even a little or tried to think of anything, I will immediately break the fine connection of the zone.

So I just let it flow and turned my thinking and worries off. I was ready to completely loose myself here and surrender.

After that my consciousness was taken over and I lost control of my mind or body.

Then there were severe vibrations gushing from top of my head to my back and I felt like I was nothing but a vibrating wave.

It felt as if I had begun to synchronize with the world itself. As if my wavelength was being slowly matched with that of the world and trying to create resonance.

After some time remaining in that situation, the feeling of being me returned. I was in such an ecstatic state that I did not feel like coming back and felt sad on returning. But after I returned I felt as if I had some understanding of the world itself.

But before it could match completely, it ended for some reason.

I don’t know what to think of this experience. It was beyond anything I had ever felt.

The radio noise subsided and I was now back to my normal self again.

I did not meet the goddess as I was expecting, but this experience was quite good too.

I now felt full of life and energy. I opened the eyes and the sermon had already ended and there were only a few people right now sitting there.

Then suddenly, I felt as if I was being watched.

I looked around and noticed that someone watching me front the second floor.

There was a woman with golden hair and glowing blue eyes and she was staring at me from there.

I scanned her but she immediately left as if reacting to my gaze or scan.

Still I was able retrieve her information properly.

I couldn’t believe it. Such a person was living here in the Syndell.

A high elf and 65 year old. But her level was low considering her age.

Maybe she didn’t kill much monsters. She might have been like the shrine maiden or something of that sorts who live their lives indoors being protected as a holy person.

I wanted to go there and see her again but there was no entry to the second floor.

Dejectedly, I then left the Syndell and just then 6th bell rang, that means it was already 4 pm.

Dang the time flew so fast. I came here at around 2 pm so it had been 2 hours.

Then I decided to roam around the city center. I came across the main government building where apparently the lord of city and his subordinates work.

Here is probably the place where citizen card is made.

There was also a library like building, that had entry fees.

So I just saw it from outside too since I was low on funds already.

Either way first I needed to learn how to read so there was no use of going in.

After finishing my tour I decided to go to Nyxia san’s weapon shop, since I would be needing my weapons from tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the day I would try doing my first quest. So I went to the adventurer’s district to get my weapons.

I entered the shop and greeted Nyxia san. She was as always wearing a bikini armor but of different style.

But she was busy with a customer.

So without disturbing her I gestured her that I was going to the back courtyard, to which she nodded and continued to speak to the customer.

The customers were a party of 5 adventurers.

She was definitely enticing the male members by her costume and making them buy something expensive.

I entered the backyard and there was a cute short rat man fixing weapons quietly in the corner.

I don’t know why but I feel very sad for him.

Although I shouldn’t interfere in others relationship but I don’t think he is being treated that badly. Just kidding.

(Hello sir. Have my weapons and armor been repaired?)

(Ohhh. Its you. Yes they are lying in there. Take them to Nyxia san, she will tell you the price.)

I looked at the weapons and inspected them. They were looking quite good. Almost new.

(Thank you. These are almost as if they are new….

I then went to Nyxia san who was still wooing her customers.

I decided to look at the shop meanwhile.

I scanned various weapons kept for display but something happened while I was in middle of scanning.

Suddenly I had stats being relayed to my mind along with the general result.
