Chapter 1:

Ohana

Wish Upon A Magic Star

Two magic knights we’re training in front of an ugly building. Both had black capes, and their grimoires at the ready. “How did you even come up with a spell like that?” The older of the two asked with a puzzled look. He had brown hair, with green highlights on the tips. “Why? Are you jealous of my creativity?” The younger of the two had her dark hair in rows and shot him a wild smile with a sword in her hands, the blade of which was now covered in a strange glow of magic. “It's freaky! It reminds me of my brother!” He had a strained look on his face, that was forming into a frown. “Spatial reinforcement magic on a weapon? I’ve never seen something like that, it’s not my fault your magic is freaky!”

“No wonder you’re such a failure with women!” she said as she started dashing towards him, “H-hey! You can’t talk to me like that! I’m your superior!” he began throwing out an array of portals, blocking her vision during her approach. She slashed at the portals in her way as she made her way closer, the portals were being annihilated as they came into contact with her blade.

“Nice try!” she reached the position that he was previously at but he wasn’t there any longer. “I’m not falling for that again! Fallen Angel Flapping!” a countless number of small spatial magic orbs began rapidly advancing towards her from behind. She started to turn around after she heard his voice. “Oh c’mon, you’re a one trick pony Finral!” She countered the assault by surrounding herself in a layered barrier of magic, as the attacks started to collide with her barriers the layers were being destroyed. She quickly made a portal beneath her feet and reappeared directly above Finral. “You should learn to read ki!” she shouted before delivering a knockout blow to the back of his head.

Loud cheers erupted from the small audience that had been watching the battle. “You did amazing Zahna!” a loud boy with silver hair walked towards her as she was sheathing her weapon. “You’ve gotten way better at reading ki! Too bad Finral doesn’t train as hard as you, that spatial magic is amazing” He had stars in his eyes as he thought about what fighting her would be like. “Thanks Asta!” she bent down to pick up her defeated squad-mate, “Ugh, you’re dead-weight. Asta, give me a hand with him!” The two of them carried their teammate towards the entrance. “Hmp, not bad for a non-royal” A girl with silver hair remarked as they carried Finral inside. “How could you lose to the rookie, it’s so embarrassing!” a girl with blue hair commented as she buried her face in her hands.

“You knocked out my ride? What the hell is wrong with you, kid?!” a tall muscular man with jet black hair stood before her. “You know the rules, you knocked out my wheels and you gotta take responsibility!” She dropped Finral as soon as she heard that voice, “sorry captain!” she saluted him. “I’ve got an emergency! I need to make a major deposit, so dispense with the portal already!”

“Yes sir!” Soon enough there was a purple portal in front of the captain, he walked through it without another word. It dissipated as soon as he was fully through it. “A man on a mission.” a woman with long pink hair chuckled as she took a swig from a rather expensive bottle. “Oh, you got stronger too huh? Wanna have a rematch??” a blonde haired boy with wild eyes jumped with joy as he ran to Zahna, who threw her hands up in front of her waving them side to side. “Maybe later Luck.” she said with an evasive laugh. “Aww, I was hoping to end our draw!” He sighed with disappointment but then locked eyes on his favorite pincushion, and sprinted after him. “Magna, fight me!”

Zahna took a walk over to the kitchen, and watched as several sheepy chefs prepared a beautiful array of sweet and savory dishes. A small woman was gleefully seasoning and cooking alongside them. “Hey Charms! What’s cookin?” Charmie gave her a grin and began doing tricks with her cooking utensils as she made her announcement “Only the finest of culinary delicacies!” she did several flips as she said “The most mouth watering steak you’ll ever sink your teeth into, pan fried to perfection with the smoothest creamiest butter in the clover kingdom!” she landed in a low position with one hand framing her huge grin before she continued to expound upon the various ingredients and courses that would be served shortly. Zahna clapped enthusiastically at the comical presentation, she knew anything her friend cooked was going to be amazing. Charmie was always pleased by her response, it was second only to the praise she received from a certain black haired wind mage.

By the time the food was done cooking, Finral had woken up and joined the others. The black bulls were celebrating their recent string of victories, and the fact that their newest member had completed their second dungeon. They partied hard, and by the end of it most of them were passed out. However, one of these magic knights was feeling particularly anxious about improving their abilities and they were training alone under the soft glow of the moon.

“Five hundred and one, five hundred and two…” Zahna counted to herself as she was doing pushups in the dark. “Yo, Zee! You’re training too?” a silver haired boy emerged out of the darkness, and gave her a chipper greeting. She fell on her back as he approached, and looked up towards the stars. “Sure am, Asta.” she panted, “How else am I gonna catch up to you guys?” she was breathing heavily between her words. He walked over and took a seat beside her, “You know, you’re pretty strong already.” He laid beside her and looked up towards the stars. “You survived something horrific. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like.” he tilted his head towards her gazing at the grimoire she was now holding. It was an amalgamation of three grimoires, spatial, light and dark; their covers hideously bound together. “I couldn’t escape on my own though… it wasn’t until you and Mars…” she trailed off as she traced her finger around the three distinct glowing colors of it, gold, purple, and sunset red. The glow itself reminded her of the evening sky.

“I’m not gonna stop training till nobody can beat me! Not even the wizard king!” she declared as she raised a fist towards the stars. “Asta,” she turned towards him, their eyes locked “you’re still a meathead.” He now had a slightly hurt look on his face “Heyy,” he said half whining “that’s not a nice thing to say to somebody!” she giggled at him as she rose to her feet. He followed and stood up beside her. “Race you back!” she darted off, “wait a minute!!!” he yelled as he trailed behind her.

As they were running, a blinding flash filled the area completely obscuring their view. When Asta opened his eyes again, his friend was nowhere to be seen “ZAHNA!!!!” he screamed into the darkness as he could no longer sense her ki.

On a planet far away, in a galaxy worlds apart the sky was dark as night but the clocks read mid-day. A strange phenomena was blotting out the light from the sun, as lightning danced across the sky. “YOUR WISH IS GRANTED!” a thunderous voice boomed across the sky, louder than the crash of lightning. Seven spheres of light spun up towards the sky, splitting apart as they reached their apparent apex then flying off at incalculable speeds in various directions.

“Woo hoo! Come to papa!” an old man was looking around with a sick look on his face, hoping to find someone that he wanted to be nearby. “Come on out! Where are you? Did that damn dragon actually fulfill my wish?” the old man scratched his head, disappointed that his wish didn’t go the way he planned. “Shenron you old devil! You tricked me again!”
