Chapter 6:

Furry Stalker

Beasted

After a long day, I just returned home and took a bath. I felt strange like someone would watch me. It was already dark and I just went to catch some fresh air on my window.

An iron smell irritated my nose. I knew to whom it belonged. I did squint my eyes to see better in the darkness, behind the stupid lamp, which just lightened up a small space and then just annoyingly blinded people.

Distinctive eye shine came through. It was HIM again. He was staying under the protection of the darkness. Did he follow me until my home? He could become a danger to other people or their pets. If something will happen, it will be all my fault.

I took a jacket and just went outside. I walked down the path and didn’t let him out of my sight. He was slowly following me on his all fours. Not so far from my house was a big meadow, since the apartment house was placed on the edge of the village. I lead him that way. I had to do something about him.

He couldn’t walk free in the village. That is too risky for both sides. How should I explain it to him? Hmmm… He acted like a stray puppy, who found its new master. Well, I wouldn’t call it that way in real life. I think he was kind of happy I showed up and came out to see him.

Walked through the train underpass and towards a pond. He immediately just relaxed and watched how the fishes jumped around in the little lake. I kept him company for an hour or so and then had to go back home.
I guess, that was enough for him, to satisfy his desire.

For the next week, he repeatedly sought out my presence every night. No matter the weather. An evening full of stars or cloudy and rainy, he came every damn time. He was following me like a shadow.

I tried to ignore him and just use the curtains to block the werewolf to see me. But I still could feel his eyes on my apartment windows.

One night I decided to open the window and check, where he was hiding tonight. My little stalker didn’t disappoint me. He was directly on the opposite side of my bedroom window standing in the darkness and hypnotizing me to come out.

He looked around and checked all the windows, which were nearby. Then he stepped out of its secure place to casually walk up on his two legs up to my window. He rested his head on the window's threshold.

I decided to make a deal with him. I will spend every weekend in the forest, if he stops to come to my place every night to stalk me. He understood and nodded. Seems like I finally got him out of this area.

I hoped he wouldn’t return the next day. It would become a huge problem, if someone would notice him in the end. He then turned his back towards me and left back to the forest, to his real home. That night I had a good sleep.

The week passed by pretty quickly and I prepared to go to the forest and spend all my time there. I bought a tent so I could sleep inside, sleeping bag,... packed some water and food, and started my first weekend journey with a dangerous animal.

I did feel safe, because enough time passed to gain my trust. So I didn’t doubt my decision to go there. I rose up with the sun and just before anybody could wake up, I was on my way to try out this crazy idea, but I was happy. I had nobody, no family, friends so I risked everything for a little company.

He was awaiting me in the bushes on, where the forest was starting. He showed himself to me and then turned and started to walk into the forest. Well, I just followed him. We hiked for a quite long time and he brought me back to his cave from before.

So my tent wasn’t needed at all. Good for me. Before it was too dark to inspect the inside of the structure. I expected a rat hole full of dead animals, bones, and really stinky walls, but I was surprised how very clean and neat it was. Maybe he prepared for me to come? Probably will never know, but I am happy that it is how it is.

At first, he kept his distance from me. Gradually he came more and more closer. I stiffly sat next to the wall. He laid down and slowly came closer with his nose first to poke my hand. I watched him and then lifted a little my palm and gently touched his nose.

I hoped he wouldn’t bite the heck out of me. He closed his eyes and seemed to enjoy the touch. I became braver and stroked from his nose towards his eyes up his forehead and finally gave him ear scratches. All of that was allowed by him. I repeated it several times and the werewolf crawled closer.

I got the guts to dig into his fur. It had three layers. First, the black outer layer was smooth, shiny, and weather-resistant. It meant, it was water-repellent.

The second greyish, was sharp, spiky, and hard, probably for protection, because he had it only in the longer vital parts, like the neckline arms, legs, and torso.

The third, invisible dark gray one, was an undercoat, which was protecting him from cool weather or heat. He was almost a whole wolf except for his torso, which was shaped like a man’s, and his "hands". On his all fours, you couldn't tell. After a short while, he fell asleep and snored a little.

Most of the weekend, we spent like this together or we went for a hike, and he showed me around his home. Parts, which I never knew existed here. I was happy and later came home very relaxed. I was mentally prepared for the next working week.
