Chapter 5:
I won the romcom, but the fandom hates me so I was sent back in time to become best girl
I still couldn't get over that embarrassment from the other day. Worst of all, Yoshi was starting to give me weird looks. I really hope he doesn't think I'm a BL fanatic. I'm really not. I want to tell him that, but I'm so embarrassed.
"Yona? You alright?" Fumiyo asked.
"GAH! Oh, hey Fumiyo. Sorry, I've just been sort of out of it lately," I replied.
"You've been acting really weird lately, especially around Yoshi. Even Miyuu's been blushing and running away whenever she sees Yoshi with his friends.
"Damn that BL manga!"
"Hmm? BL? Wait, are you two seriously avoiding Yoshi because you read a BL manga?"
"IT WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING! HE SAW ME IN FRONT OF THE BOOKSTORE AND THOUGHT I WAS ACTING WEIRD BECAUSE THE BL MANGA WAS IN THE WINDOW AND-_"
Fumiyo shut me up by shoving my face into her breasts.
"Cry it out girl. Though, there's nothing to worry about."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Yoshi's a smart guy. Besides, I read the most ecchi and raunchy mangas and novels around, and he still likes me," Fumiyo smiled.
"But you got rejected."
"NOT because of that," Fumiyo growled as she squeezed my shoulder.
She then explained what happened at the shrine.
...
"Um Fumiyo? What's going on?" Yoshi asked.
"We'll give you two space," Takemichi winked as he dragged Masaki away with him.
"Yoshi, I- I- I love you," Fumiyo smiled.
Yoshi stared in shock for a bit before composing himself.
"Fumiyo, I think you're a wonderful woman. Sure you read some very erotic stuff and play some erotic games, but you're a smart and caring woman. You were one of the first of my students to accept me and give me a chance, and I can't thank you enough for that. However, you're not the one I have romantic feelings for. I'm sorry."
"Huh?" Fumiyo uttered as she began to tear up.
"I'm sorry, Fumiyo. There's another girl I-"
Fumiyo ran off crying before Yoshi could finish.
Later, Yoshi ran into Fumiyo on her way to the dining hall.
Fumiyo was still distraught, but Yoshi wanted to clear things up with her.
"Fumiyo! I don't hate you!" he stated.
"Then why'd you reject me? Is it because I'm into erotic fiction? Is my damn hobby the reason I failed!?" Fumiyo cried.
"NO It's not!" There's nothing wrong with your hobby. Had I not met that one girl, I probably would have fallen for you."
"You love someone else, for real?"
"Yes, truth be told, she's the reason I've been able to become a better person. She's always willing to hear my grievances and be there to try and raise my moral."
"Ah, now I understand. Just like you helped me become a better person, she did the same for you. I guess I never stood a chance," Fumiyo tearfully sighed.
"Hold up, I'm not finished. Just because I don't want to be your lover, doesn't mean I think of you any less. You're still one of my closest friends Fumiyo, and I'm glad you thought highly enough of me to want to ask me out."
Fumiyo tearfully smiled and gave Yoshi a hug before walking away.
"Thank you Yoshi. I'm sad I can't spend the rest of my life with you, but I'm glad you at least don't hate me."
"Don't worry, I'm sure a girl like you will definitely find someone you can spend the rest of your life with," Yoshi called out.
...
"And that's what happened," Fumiyo smiled.
"That really does sound like something Yoshi would say," I smiled.
"You sure seem to know him well, so why're you so nervous? Go clear up the misunderstanding. But if you are into BL, I'll show you my collection. I've also got GL and-"
"Thanks for the pep talk Fumiyo!" I said as I ran off.
"So close, yet so far. Well, now that I'm out of the running, I might as well throw my lot in with helping someone else win Yoshi's heart," Fumiyo happily thought.
...
Iroha hummed as she walked down a worn path towards an ominous shrine.
"It says this place can help improve your lot in love. Well, might as well get all the insurance I can," Iroha giggled as she prayed.
...
I managed to run into Yoshi as we were getting on the busses. Miyuu, Masaki, and Takemichi were also there.
"Yoshi! I have to tell you something important!" I shouted.
"Huh? Yona!? Is it-"
"I'm not into BL! That was just a misunderstanding the other day!"
"Soka," Yoshi nervously uttered.
"Huh? Did that manga really throw you THAT out of whack?" Miyuu scoffed.
"You were flustered by it too! I saw you blushing!" I countered.
"Was NOT!" Miyuu angrily blushed.
"Nothing wrong with ladies reading something steamy," Takemichi smiled.
"Oi Michi, don't piss em off," Masaki warned.
"There's nothing wrong with reading it and having BL fantasies about Yoshi-"
*SLAP*
*SLAP*
Miyuu and I slapped Takemichi on each cheek as we huffed away.
"You had that coming," Yoshi chided.
"Well, now would be the perfect time to put their minds at ease," Takemichi painfully smiled.
Yoshi smiled and walked over to us.
"Don't worry, there is a girl I have a crush on. Also, I'm not into BL, though I won't think any less of you two if you're into it," Yoshi stated.
We blushed before breaking out in laughter.
"So, is the girl you like, someone we know?" Miyuu giddily asked.
"Yes, but I won't confess until the end of the school year," Yoshi confirmed.
"Guess that means you've already made up your mind," I stated.
"Mostly, but who knows, maybe one of you will surprise me."
As Yoshi walked off, Iroha arrived out of breath.
"And where were you?" Miyuu grumbled.
"Sorry, Onee-san just wanted to do some last minute sight seeing," Iroha smiled.
As we all got on the bus, my save point updated. I was still about where I was before though. Well, at least I was enjoying myself.
[End for now]
