Chapter 79:

Chapter 79. Conclusion

Zero to Hero (Prequel/prototype)

“I still don’t understand how Zishell knew I was going to teleport to that spot before I even knew I was going to teleport to that spot! It made no sense!” Ken complained as he sat with the girls the following day to watch the final day of the open tournament.

“Who cares! You showed off your talent. You are the youngest ever to reach holy level! Now you can just relax and spend your life with me instead of worrying about getting stronger and all that other nonsense!” Genesis replied happily.

“Genesis! Just because you have zero desire to do anything doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be frustrated after putting in 5 whole years of effort just to be dealt with like I was nothing! Did you at least go talk with Helen and see if you are interested in learning some healing magic?” Ken asked.

“Nope! I can’t learn healing magic because I don’t want to imagine you ever getting hurt. To learn it, it’s like I’m admitting you might end up getting hurt and I rather you just never do anything again and we have an easy relaxing life.” Genesis replied to Ken’s dismay.

Giving up trying to convince the forever unmotivated girl, Ken turned his attention to chatting with Vincent and Fernard as the trio discussed about the matches and ways to improve so they could eventually overtake the heroes.

The matches ended up playing out like they typically did with Zishell and Julius facing off in the final match and Zishell taking the victory once again as the elf section of the crowd cheered loudly.

While Ryder announced Zishell as the victor and ended the final match, Lucia got busy with the interviews as she darted around the stadium interviewing all of the noticeable students like Ryo who impressed, and the regulars like Fernard and Vincent before finally arriving at Ken’s group.

After chatting happily with Seraphina and failing to get Lovetta to say much, Lucia finally turned her attention to Ken.

“Hello, Ken! That match against Zishell yesterday was epic! In my years here at the academy, I have never experienced the stadium rattle the way it did yesterday!

I was also informed that you have achieved holy level?” Lucia said happily without any hints of resentment, seemingly to have finally gotten over the stunt Ken pulled.

“I’m sure you haven’t forgotten what I said a few years ago and thanks to the generosity of the Yelwraek king, instead of punishing me for my impulsive words, he promised that I could have both princesses as my wives if I reached holy level this year!” Ken said happily.

After chatting with Ken some more and congratulating him on becoming the youngest in history to reach holy level and wishing him the best of luck on his marriage, Lucia joined Ryder and thanked everyone as another successful tournament came to an end.

“Glad to see Lucia all cherry again.” Ken said happily as the group headed back to the suite to get ready for the banquet.

“Why? So you can sleep with her again?” Genesis questioned.

“Genesis… You have been too antsy. I know it was my bad for being away so much but that’s behind us now!

You need to relax a bit and not be so accusatory in your remarks! I have no interest in Lucia and our only intimacy was business.” Ken replied while Genesis completely ignored his reasoning.

“I got you a nice fancy suit for the banquet!” Cecilla said happily as Ken entered their suite.

“Why am I wearing a nice new fancy suit?” Ken asked as he slumped on the sofa.

“Obviously to look your best when you go and get my father’s permission to take me as your wife!” Cecilla replied, the most cheerful Ken had ever seen her.

“I have known him for longer so obviously I am the first wife.” Clare cuts in as the sisters start arguing.

“Just because he gets permission from your father, doesn’t mean you all have to get married right away. I want him to talk to my parents at the banquet today too so we can get married.

With him getting the approval from the king of Yelwreak, no way my parents would refuse!” Alice added as she started pestering Ken to speak to her parents so the pair could get married first.

“Ken. You need to come to Chelmswell. My family misses you and my dad wants to have a serious spar with you to see your strength before he would let us get married.” Lovetta added.

With the talk of marriage going around, all the girls got chatty and added their own opinions and how Ken should proceed while the young man could only keep his mouth shut so he doesn’t add any more fuel to the fire.

“You know Ken. Every girl wants to feel special on her wedding day. I don’t think anyone would be happy if you were thinking about throwing a big wedding for everyone together.” Emma said quietly so the rest couldn’t hear.

“Well, Emma. How am I supposed to make everyone happy?” Ken asked while the rest were too busy arguing to pay the pair any attention.

“The one you marry first will be happy. The rest will get jealous and upset. I guess the one you want to make happy, you marry first.

Then go down in order of who you want to upset the least. You can marry me last, I know how hard it will be for you so I will make it slightly easier.” Emma said with a small smile as Ken got dragged into the middle of the argument.

After much placating and promising that he would do some serious thinking and give everyone an answer sometime soon, the bickering finally stopped long enough for the girls to get dressed for the banquet.

Dressed in his new fancy suit, Ken and his beautiful girls stood out even more than normal as they arrived at the dining hall.

Striding confidently up to the king of Yelwraek, Ken chatted happily with King Cyril and Zishell for a few minutes before thanking the pair for their time and turning his attention to Alice’s family to keep his promise to the vampire girl.

“How did it go?” Genesis asked as Ken returned with some food.

“Good news and bad news. What do you want to hear first?” Ken replied.

“I want to hear the good news. You can skip the bad news.” Rose replied from behind.

“Rose! The good news is that Zishell more than confirmed that my abilities are indeed at holy level and the king of Yelwreak will be honoring his words. I will no longer need to live in fear or go into hiding on some isolated island.” Ken replied happily as Rose greeted the group and joined them.

“Great news indeed. Now my dad will have no reason to stop me from coming next semester to be with you!” Rose replied happily while Genesis scorned in disapproval.

“What’s the bad news?” Indra asked timidly.

“Genesis. I know I promised to go to Feirvenn with you to visit your mom’s grave and celebrate your birthday but the king of Yelwreak asked me to go back with Clare and Cecilla later today and for us to get married after the selection in a few weeks.” Ken said, knowing the backlash that’s about to come.

“WHY! Why do you guys have to get married so soon!” Genesis shouted, showing her discontent with the news while the other girls were also not pleased to hear about the sudden marriage.

“Well, here was his reasoning. He obviously knows I am with more girls than just his daughters but as the princesses of Yelwreak, he basically told me he won’t allow me to marry any girls before them and since the annual selection gathers so many people from the surrounding areas to the capital, he said it’s the best time to hold a royal wedding and I really couldn’t reject.” Ken replied.

“You have spent so little time with me the past 2 years because of all the exchanges you did! You were gone for 4 months straight without a single word and now you are breaking your promise to go home with me!” Genesis shouted as she stormed off before Ken could stop her.

“Aren’t you going to chase after her?” Rose asked.

“It’s fine. I know she would get more upset than anyone else, I will give her some alone time to calm down and talk to her later when we return to our room.” Ken replied, brushing off needing to chase after Genesis.

After spending the rest of the night chatting with his friends and everyone who came over to congratulate him for reaching holy level, Ken and the girls headed back to the suite to get ready for his departure for Yelwreak.

“No one seen Genesis? I can’t believe she isn’t back yet.” Ken said after the group returned to the suite.

“Your fault for promising her to go back home with her and then breaking that promise. None of us is happy that you are going to Yelwreak on such short notice and getting married.” Alice replied as the group sat around in the living room.

“Even I am not happy with my father’s decision. Sure, I’m excited that I’m going to get married to Ken in a few weeks but I don’t want to share that moment with Cecilla!” Clare added.

“Like I wanted to share my big moment with you!” Cecilla rebutted, the entire atmosphere was so heavy that even the usually cheerful Seraphina was not her normal happy self.

“Let’s get going, Ken. It’s almost midnight.” Clare said as everyone sat quietly around the living room waiting for Genesis to return.

“I guess she’s not going to see us off. Emma, try to calm Genesis down for me, please. I will be home after the wedding and I will make it up to Genesis.

I know it’s sudden and most of you aren’t happy that I’m getting married so suddenly but I don’t think I could have said no to the king’s decision.

We can work everything out properly once next semester starts and we all get back together.” Ken said as he and the two princesses got ready, said their goodbye, and teleported to the kingdom of Yelwreak.

“I can’t believe how this day turned so quickly. We were all happy about finally getting over my situation and now, everyone is either upset or unhappy or both, and I have no idea how to fix it.” Ken sighed as the trio arrived in Yelwreak.

“Our father had to ruin everything. We all knew it would be rough with how many girls you have but we would have been fine living with whatever decisions you made.

Forcing you to marry the both of us together without giving any of us a choice is very much like my father and definitely not something any of us wanted.” Clare added as the trio slowly walked inside Clare’s family wing of the castle.

“Go back to your own room Cecilla. Leave Ken and I alone.” Clare said while Cecilla simply ignored her comment as the trio settled in Clare’s room.

“I thought getting to holy level so that I won’t be hunted down would be my biggest obstacle but looks like falling in love with so many girls has always been my biggest downfall.” Ken said with another sigh as the trio got ready for bed.

“Wake up Ken! Today’s the big day!” Clare’s sister Chloe said happily as she jumped up and down on the bed to get Ken to wake up.

“Morning Chloe. What’s the big deal today?” Ken asked as he yawned.

“What’s the big deal? Are you joking or still asleep? It’s your wedding with my sisters!” Chloe said happily, too excited to contain her energy.

“Oh yeah. I am about to get married today aren’t I?” Ken replied with a chuckle, still trying to process the information even after almost 2 weeks.

“Where is Clare and Cecilla?”

“It takes a girl forever to get ready! Both got up hours ago to get their makeup and hair done.” Chloe replied as Ken slowly got out of bed.

“Why aren’t any of you excited? I know both Clare and Cecilla love you wholeheartedly but they don’t seem all that happy the three of you are getting married and you definitely don’t seem that excited.” Chloe questioned.

“Well, Chloe. I am excited to make both Clare and Cecilla my wife but I have learned that for the girls, it’s very important for them to have this special moment for themselves.

Neither is happy about this arrangement your father has forced upon us.” Ken replied as the pair headed for the dining room to get some breakfast.

“Sounds complicated. I hope I don’t have to deal with it when I find myself a lover.”

“Life isn’t always simple for a princess, isn’t it? You are almost at that age too so I hope you can find true love and won’t become a chess piece for your father.”

“Yeah, it’s not all sunshine and glory for a princess but I will manage.

Speaking of which, if it wasn’t for my dad forcing you into marrying Clare and Cecilla, which of your girls would you marry first?” Chloe asked curiously.

“I have really thought about it for the past 2 weeks. While I don’t know what’s the right thing to do, I feel like Genesis is the first I should marry.” Ken replied.

“Why her? Do you love her more than the rest?”

“I love all my girls full heartedly but Emma’s words led me to this conclusion.

Unlike your sisters or any of the others, Genesis is all alone in this world. She doesn’t have any family to comfort her and with how stubborn she is, she doesn’t even have a dream or goal to work towards to take her mind off things.

I can see now why she got as upset as she did when I was forced into this marriage but it’s too little too late. I will just have to do what I can once we are back together.” Ken replied, feeling slightly down even though it was his big day.

“Stop acting all gloomy when you are about to have 2 of the Yelwreak princesses as your bride!” Chloe replied as she tried to cheer Ken up.

“Let’s go watch the selection and see how many get selected! They told me to keep you busy and not let you see them until it’s time for the wedding.” Chloe added as she led Ken through the castle towards the front square where thousands of families had gathered to watch their children have a chance to be selected to the most prestigious school in the entire world.

With the news of a royal wedding taking place after the selection was complete, the massive square was packed to the brim with eager onlookers wanting to see how many lucky individuals would get selected to attend Dragonspire and more importantly, eager to witness the wedding between the elf princesses and a human. A human who was able to reach holy level even faster than the strongest hero in recorded history and who could possibly one day, overtake their elven hero and become the top hero.
