Chapter 16:
Even as Another World's Bone King, I'll still give 50% effort
A figure caught the eyes of and locked eyes with Cuarzo, meeting only a few steps away from each other on the spiral staircase. Said figure was actually just Wirbelsturm, who was still carrying Haru over his shoulders. Cuarzo was a bit surprised but mostly relieved, since this made his job to get them there a whole lot easier, only really needing to bring them down the stairs to the chamber.
Wirbelsturm: Ah, so I was right....
Cuarzo: Just come along, she's already there y'know.
Wirbelsturm: I see...
He then follows behind him, walking down the torch-lit staircase, almost tripping along the way. And eventually reaching the bottom where the tall door to the lower chamber was. Cuarzo opened the door once more, as Wirbelsturm and Haru were now finally in the lower chamber, better late than never I guess.
Drodia: There you are. And as I thought, he's completely out of commission.
Wirbelsturm: Ah, no that's not it. He fell asleep somewhere along the way, though I guess he is out of it.
Drodia: Set him down, I'll bring him back to full strength or something.
Wirbelsturm sets Haru down in front of him, his body laying on the cold marble floor as he remains asleep. She looks at Elleth, who takes the hint and somewhat hesitantly squats over to him, infecting him with Repair Virus and healing up his physical damage, sealing up his wounds and such.
Once this was done, Drodia herself used a bit of her power and summoned up a bit of lightning and water, combining them to make a small ball of neon yellow looking liquid, one that was surging with electricity. Before calmly bursting the ball, releasing the neon liquid upon Haru's sleeping body.
The liquid seeped into his body and revitalized him from within, bringing him back to his full strength, or at least the condition he was in before Wirbelsturm first attacked him back in that upper part of the temple. Coincidentally, Haru's eyes slowly blinked open as he woke up from his nap.
Haru: What do you want.....I was just about to get to the good part....
He sat up, rubbing his eye with his left hand, still in the process of actually waking up. Before looking up to see Drodia, her arms crossed while pouting. It was quite the cute sight to behold, he'll admit, but on the other hand it reminded him somewhat of his little sister, Sayaka.
Haru: Ah, Drodia. Is it that time now?
Drodia: No, this is a completely different matter altogether. I'm going to make you fight the Bone King himself.
The moment she said that, all the dragons, except for Lasintekijä who was still knocked out, were in disbelief. As this meant that he was still alive. But how could that be, as they were there when he was finally defeated by Drodia, as it was the same day she formed contracts with all of them. While for Haru, this took him a couple of seconds before he got what she was saying.
At the same time, Airi thought that the name sounded familiar to her, she thought that it might have ties to that terrifying berserk form of his, the one that first awakened during the date he took her out on for her birthday. Which was absolutely correct, as unbeknownst to her, or anyone in his party really for that matter, his skill had evolved into {Bone King}, sharing the same title as the man in question himself.
Haru: Oh coo- Wait, what!? He's here!? When!?
Drodia: I'm sure you already know from your "research", but I was the one who finally ended him and his rampage. That's still technically the truth, though he's not as dead as you might think.
Haru: H-huh, what does that mean?
Drodia: He still died, that's for sure. But he came as a wraith, spending the past few or so years waiting for someone to be his successor. I don't know the full story behind his turn, since I only came to finally end him. That's why I want you to fight him.
Haru: I still don't get it. What does having to fight him have anything to do with wanting to know his full story?
Drodia: Well...He's a bit stubborn, basically he wants to fight his successor to see if he's worthy enough before saying anything about himself. And you're his successor, Haru.
Haru: Then where is he?
Drodia: He's here in this very temple, inside of a room I've not told anyone of for the past few years. A room bigger than every other in this temple, and created using high-tier spatial magic.
Cuarzo: Lady Drodia, why are we only hearing of this now?
Drodia: That's simple, I had no reason to tell you. His successor wasn't here yet back then and now he is. Haru, you understand who exactly I'm about to make you fight, right?
Haru: Yeah, he's a powerful warlord and the origin of this world's myth of the Grim Reaper. I shouldn't take him lightly, at best I'll end up heavily injured and at worst I'll be dead.
His words were laced with nervousness and a slight hint of acceptance for that last part, and rightfully so, remembering the many many nights he spent back when they were still living in Ersune within that mansion's library, sitting hunched over at a wooden desk lit up via a lantern he had brought along with.
The nights where he read up on the Bone King, learning about his many rampages across the lands, the dozens people he slaughtered and killed, and nearly everything in between considering the somewhat limited amount of books he had that were actually about him in said mansion's library.
To think that him writing down the parts he deemed important for seemingly no reason other than satisfying his curiosity would eventually lead him to this moment. The little joke he had made about actually asking the Bone King himself all about this one day was about to come true.
Drodia: Exactly, though given his personality, I assure you that he won't kill you. Or at least I'd like to think so anyway.
Haru: That's not reassuring at all....
He thought, clearly still anxious about what's going to happen next. He knew that he had no way out of this situation. And that he definitely had no other choice but to actually fight him. His hand forming a fist and clenching as Airi, who was beside him at this time, grabbed his other hand in an attempt to get her dear Haru to calm down.
But considering what he already knew about the Bone King, there was absolutely no way he would be able to beat him, even if he were to use both Captain's Orders and Sovereign form in combination like he did during the mansion raid. To put it simply, he thought that it was impossible.
Drodia: So, are you up for it?
Haru: You ask me that as if I have a choice. But still, it can't hurt to try. Hell, there are some things I want to ask him too as well.
Drodia: That's the spirit. Now then, I'll be opening the portal leading to him so stand back a bit.
He and the others backed away a good distance, as Drodia turned to the side, stretching out her arm with the palm facing towards the wall. A forest green magic circle projected from out of the palm, it was a variation of the ones the dragons used to open the doors to the hallways leading to this chamber.
A crack began to appear in the air, spreading downward and opening, sounding like breaking glass as it did so, sucking air in like a vacuum as the pressure equalized between the two spaces and eventually stopped. Exactly why she had them stand back in the first place as she formed the portal.
And soon the crack would become a large opening with jagged edges, like a broken window, and from it a bright sunny sky was seen, pure white clouds could be, at least somewhat, seen just below, obscuring the bottom to a large degree, almost like a vast ocean or sea to say the least.
Then Haru suddenly hesitantly and nervously began walking towards the portal, as his skills {Swift Demise}, {Fleet}, and {Bone King} all simultaneously activated.
He then looked back, his eyes locking with Elleth, Touka, Airi, and Celica. His eyes basically telling them that he'll be fine, even if what he had said earlier didn't make it seem that way. As his right arm raises to the side, flashing them a thumbs up to reassure them. Haru grabbed the upper right edge of the broken window that was the portal with his left hand. Holding on tight as he then stepped one leg through, finding that there was nothing to step on at all.
So he sighed deeply audibly exhaling after the fact. Before going through and seemingly falling to his doom. Looks of terror and concern showed on the very people he tried to reassure earlier, all the while the goddess looked down into the portal, seeing that he'd left a hole in his shape within one of the clouds, getting a bit of a chuckle from her before bringing up a large holographic screen, allowing them all to watch him.
Meanwhile Haru, who was currently experiencing skydiving for the first time, was seemingly unfazed by all of this, seemingly enjoying the fall itself. The few thoughts in his head at the time were initially just him trying to form a strategy, but these thoughts of his were quickly replaced by him preparing his soul and body for impending pain as a result of this fight.
The particular sound of cloth flapping flooded his ears as the armaments of his Cruiser form began to manifest from his back at a certain point in the fall, joining the sound of flapping with that of its own, the sound of the metal clinking and grinding against each other.
As he fell, the roof of a building could be seen below him, it felt familiar to him for some reason. It was then that he got close enough that he could see the building's surroundings. His face went from curious to horrified within a split second, was he sent back to his world? He got closer and closer to said roof, thinking quickly, he positioned his cruiser guns in front of him as he crashed into the roof.
Haru got up, dusting himself off before taking a deep breath. Still very nervous even though he was already there. He then walked off towards the door to the roof, opening it and heading down into the building with his cruiser guns angled back to give him more clearance.
He opened the pale green sliding door to his old classroom, entering it and looking around. Haru was about to head towards a window when he suddenly jumped back, and aimed his guns where he thought someone was there. The ground started rumbling and soon, gigantic black bones sprang up from the floor.
He began to fire his guns at them as at the same time, another black bone broke the window behind him and grabbed him by his neck, choking him before being forcibly pulled out of the same broken window, chunks of glass falling out of the frame, and dragging him outside where a fountain was. The tendril lets go of him as he catches his breath, hearing a deep and gravelly voice speak to him.
???: So we finally meet...
Haru slowly gets up, seeing a black skeleton with gray smoke coming out from his neck and mouth from across the fountain, the skeleton's red eyes staring into his soul. All clad in dark gray armor with an old-looking and beat up black hooded cloak, the fabric's edges clearly torn up as it flowed in the wind.
Haru: Are you th-
???: I go by many names. Bone King, Grim Reaper, Soul-Harvesting Warlord, and many more.....But you, boy, may call me Decarabia.
Haru: Ars Goetia, huh...
He thought, as it was also another thing he liked to look into back in his world. Especially seeing as how frequently many anime, manga, games, and novels tend to use the names of the seventy-two demons of Ars Goetia, be it for objects, weapons, or just straight-up giving the demons form as actual characters themselves.
Decarabia: Now then....Will you prove to me that you're worthy of inheriting the full power of the Bone King?
Haru: I'll see what I can do.
The man turns back and walks away from him, placing a good distance between them as a large magic circle appears just below Haru, who now had his hand out palm forward, also with a magic circle. Red lightning begins to surge around him as he begins to chant, calling upon the power of {Fleet}'s final form once again.
Cruising through the high seas…
Sounds of cannonfire echoing through iron and blood…
All under…
Captain’s Orders!
The red lightning became violent as the sounds of metal grinding and clanking could be heard once more as Captain's Orders formed. The Bone King was intrigued by the show before him, as he's never seen a skill like this, not even from the many heroes who had intended to stop him. Haru immediately went into action after it finished, disappearing from Decarabia's sight, only leaving a cloud of dust where he once was. Utilizing the presence concealment ability that {Hunter} gave him along with the Mach one speed the form gave.
All the while Decarabia threw wave after wave of black bones at him, going full force right from the start as well. Wanting to know if his successor really deserves the near-full power of the Bone King, that being the full power of the skill itself along with a unique ability exclusive to him, just like himself.
Then a sonic boom could be heard right behind him as Haru reappeared as quickly as he went away, left arm cocked back ready to fire off Hundred Impale. But he soon found out the hard way that it wasn't going to work, as no bones would come firing out, and in that opening Decarabia wrapped him up in black bones of his own, the tips of which were in a bright red, mimicking that of blood spatters.
Haru: What th-
Decarabia: I've restricted your ability to use that power. I want to see what you can do without it for the time being, do play along.
He then chucks Haru into the school building, crashing into a wall and falling down onto the ground. He launched his hypersonic fighter jets at him, before shooting the ground in front of himself to create a dust cloud which would allow him to escape, using {Hunter}'s presence concealment as well for good measure.
Decarabia fought the jets with ease, thinking them as nothing but annoyances at best as he tried to track down Haru. All until he was hit by a volley of High-Explosive shells, knocking him to the ground and allowing the jets to swoop in and take advantage of the situation, firing their missiles at him while he was still down.
All the while, Haru, who was now inside the building in another classroom, had what seemed to be a holographic sniper scope-like projection in front of his left eye, aiming down said holographic scope as he was getting ready to rain fire upon Decarabia once more, the guns readjusting themselves as they were loaded up once again.
He took a deep breath, then fired his shot, the shells breaking through the window. It managed to hit the Bone King, knocking him to the ground once more as he tried to conjure up his scythe while Haru ran out of the room he was in to find another sniping position within the building.
All while the Bone King formed his scythe out of black bones, its blade looking extremely worn and old, the many battles he's fought showing through its seemingly dulled look, back from when he was still alive and before becoming the literal wraith he is now.
Decarabia: Don't think I can't see you, boy.....
He muttered under his breath, gray smoke coming through his mouth, and strangely not obscuring his vision at all. All before leaping towards the school building, the smoke his body emitted creating a trail behind him like that of a steam engine, his cloak flapping in the wind as well.
He landed on the roof, crashing into the same crater Haru had created when he fell into this room in the first place. Where he then planted the blade of his scythe into the ground in front of him, a violent shaking occurring after this as dozens upon dozens of black bones shot downward into the building itself.
Some of which nearly managed to impale Haru, had his danger sense not kicked in, causing him to jump back as several sharp tendrils of black bones came through the ceiling and continued to burrow through the school building while he tried to find another place, this time to hide in.
Or so was his plan until Decarabia came crashing from the wall behind him, wrapping a bone tendril around his neck once more, lifting him up as his guns turned around towards the Bone King and tried to fire, attempting to use the near point-blank range to his advantage but to no avail, his ears ringing thanks to how close the shells were when they exploded.
Decarabia: This is your limit, correct? It's admirable, I'll say that. Your unique abilty's firepower is unlike any other I've seen, but I shall tell you now. That won't be enough to defeat me, boy...
Haru: D-do I pass?
He asks sarcastically, placing one of his feet on the still intact wall behind him. His fingers trying to prevent the bone that wrapped around his neck from tightening any further, he could already feel the blood getting cut off from his fingers by this point as he continued to gasp for air at the same time.
And with a last breath, he kicked the air in front of him, using his ability to go Mach one almost instantly and creating a point blank sonic boom, sending him flying out of the room, the bone tendril that once wrapped around his neck having been broken off, freeing him in the process.
He had landed on the hard stone ground without any cushioning, his back hurting from the impact and from the wall he came out of, his ears ringing once again, all as Decarabia looked at him from the broken wall before making his next move and jumping down himself. And unlike Haru, he landed on his feet with a metallic clinking sound as the armor collided with the stone.
Decarabia: This was just the first phase. Remember, I told you that I wanted to see what you can do without my power. And now that I have, it's time for you to come at me at full strength, you better not disappoint me.
The audible sound of a door being unlocked could be heard, almost echoing throughout the field, the Bone King's right arm outstretched and covered in a raging blood red aura up to his elbow. The restriction was now gone as Haru began to stand up, his legs buckling and wobbling.
His legs were just about to give out at this point as he kept pushing on, reminding himself that this was to prove himself worthy of his near-full power and to find out how he became this way. He then leaped at the Bone King, reeling his arm back and delivering a close-range Hundred Impale.
This was the exact move he was intending to do earlier before he had his ability to use that power restricted, the near-explosive power of this single attack dragged Decarabia across the ground, gouging and kicking up the stone just beneath his feet.
Decarabia: Good, good. Borotva...
His scythe's blade almost immediately flooded itself with blood red energy, he then slashed at him with the blade, the energy firing out from it and turning into a massive energy wave coming straight for Haru, with no time to dodge. The slash connected, giving him a massive diagonal cut across his chest and shirt, the wound heavily bled, dripping onto the ground and even soaking into the nearby fabric of his clothes as he tried to bear with the pain as the Bone King went to attack him again.
He came in close, attempting to impale him with his scythe. It didn't go through, as Haru finally conjured up his Sovereign form's armor, catching the Bone King's eyes with its distinct looks as the scythe's blade ended up getting stuck within the torso armor as he aimed his guns at him before firing, sending the king flying back once again.
Decarabia: Now then, shall we?
Haru: Let's make it quick. I don't have much time in this form.
Decarabia: Is that so?
He called his scythe back into his hand as Haru created a mace out if bones, it's head being as sharp as it was blunt to cause massive amounts of damage as it can with it's fairly large size, its weight was almost nothing as Haru carried it around like it was a stick he'd picked up off of the ground. Haru then disappeared, leaving a small cloud of dust where he once stood like before, the Bone King knew what he was going to do and prepared for it accordingly.
Boom, a loud noise, specifically that of colliding metal could be heard, Haru's mace had now connected with that of Decarabia's scythe. The two weapons had made intense almost-fiery sparks before the two pulled them back, with Haru going in for another strike almost immediately after, this time all aimed at the Bone King's swinging arm which wielded his scythe.
He brought it down upon said arm, clanking metal was heard, and in a repeat of the weapons' collison the minute earlier, the mace and arm made sparks fly about. The king took advantage of the opening Haru had left, and delivered a strong right hook to his jaw, sending him hurling off to the side.
Haru had crashed into one of the rooms of the building through the window, in the library area of the school no less, he had no time to reminisce in there though, as he quickly picked up his mace and rushed off to fight once again, a sonic boom causing the shelves and books to shake as if it were an earthquake.
He attempted to hit the Bone King from the side as he had done to him, only to find that he wasn't there anymore, and with his swing already underway, he couldn't stop in time and just ended up smashing the stone-covered ground with his mace. So he stood there, placing a firm grip on his mace as he'd aimed his guns in both directions, it was now his turn to try and track him down before he could land a possibly devastating hit on him.
He felt something come close to his back and almost immediately fired off a couple shots, shattering several bone tendrils in the process. Yet, the Bone King still wasn't there. Slowly, more and more of these tendrils came out from the ground, he tried fighting them off, but quickly resorted to running away as they kept coming.
Haru: Dammit, there's gotta be a better way to fight these things.
He thought, creating a wide shield out of bones behind him to defend against an incoming barrage of attacks. Taking the time in between the attacks to catch his breath, remembering that the time-limit for his form was coming closer and closer, he'd need to take off the armor sometime.
Decarabia: Tired, are we?
His voice caught Haru by surprise, with him seemingly coming from out of nowhere, this time without his scythe. The boy immediately took a defensive stance, his mace being held with both of his hands this time. And in a split-second he found himself slammed into his own shield, Decarabia's hand on the helmet of his armor, obscuring most of his vision.
Though Haru noticed something he thought was strange, the Bone King's eyes were now glowing golden all of a sudden, then, not a second later they had reverted back into his normal red ones. This was the last thing he saw as he began to black out, Captain's Orders slowly disappeared, literally disintegrating into nothing, the time limit was up.
He soon found himself, not in the recreation of his room like he usually would, but rather in a terrifyingly familiar alleyway in the rain, the words "not again" echoed loudly in his brain. The smell of blood flooded his nose as he tried not to look down, he didn't want to see it again. But unfortunately, his willpower wasn't strong enough, and he ended up looking down to see his little sister's corpse, almost exactly the same as that day.
Tears streamed down his face as he raised his head, seeing his past self just behind the police tape, his phone to his ear as his other hand held an umbrella. Likely answering his parents' call judging by the same tear-stricken look on his face as he was having right now, experiencing this moment once again.
Meanwhile, outside of all this, Decarabia was busy fighting Haru's more or less possessed body. Sending a large almost pillar-like spike made of bone, the same one that Haru first created when he had unlocked the incomplete Sovereign form a while back. His body, which was still encased in armor, was able to tank it easily, only dragging him backwards as the Reaper persisted in its efforts to approach the Bone King.
When he got in close, he dealt a heavy swing, he was knocked into yet another part of the school. He quickly got up, coming face to face with the Reaper as it stood in the opening within the wall, conjuring up his scythe once again and packing it with blood red energy, letting it build up on the blade, almost becoming a liquid with how much he had put into his signature weapon.
Decarabia: Mély Hegesedés!
He swung from below, releasing all of the built up energy at once, all while the Reaper rushed in regardless, going in for an attack with its mace and ending taking the brunt of the attack like it did earlier, though this time the slash sent it flying out of the room, landing onto some grass, the armor having been broken off entirely, it was just Haru now, his clothes all torn up from battle, showing most of the bloody injuries he had received up to this point.
Decarabia: Get up, or is this it. I thought I told you not to disappoint me.
He says, walking up to him as Haru laid on his stomach, his forehead bleeding and dripping onto one of his eyes, the rest of his body looking heavily wounded. He was barely holding on at this point and his body wouldn't move, it was like it was being weighed down by gravity itself. So he just laid there, the Bone King continuing to berate him. Until he managed to clutch his mace, using it to prop himself up, using what seemed like the last bits of his strength to get up, huffing and puffing, clearly out of breath.
Decarabia: Summon the armor and come at me, we're not done.
Haru reluctantly obliged, as black bones came out of his skin in various places, notably his arms and back. The bones then stabbed themselves into his skin, wounding him as he began screaming out in pain, wondering why they were acting this way all of a sudden as red lightning surged and crackled around him.
Decarabia: So.....It's happening to you as well, boy.
The armor-clad man thought, making it known that he knew what was happening in this moment, Haru's transformation was now underway, his bones were slowly and painfully being dyed black from the inside. The boy feeling unbearable pain as this process continued on, crying out in agony as he soon fell to his knees. More and more bones stabbed themselves into him, the lightning growing more violent at the same time, tearing and ripping through the ground surrounding him.
When it finally stopped, the bones began to form the armor around him, all while he was still in pain. Eventually, the armor was completed, now with an ornate-looking belt wrapping around his waist, the belt had a large oval buckle, housing a dark red crystal in the shape of a bone.
He slowly stood up like nothing had happened, feeling a sense of power flowing through his wounded body which numbed the pain he still felt from both the battle and the transformation process. The compound eye-like lenses of his helmet briefly glowing an evil red as he stared and gained a cloak of red lightning, ready to fight once more.
Decarabia: It's convenient, don't you think? But, I'm still not satisfied with you. So I ask you again, are you worthy of inheriting the power and title of Bone King?
Haru: I agree and I'll fight you until you count me as worthy. Whatever that vague-sounding phrase means in this context. Besides, I'm just itching to test this new power.
He then crouched down to grab his mace, which he had let go of earlier. Standing up once again as his weapon molted, becoming a unique black sword around the length of a standard longsword. The sword's frosted white blade was straight-edge, styled like that of a butcher knife, while the back of the blade resembled his old shark-tooth sword. Though its hilt was more like a katana with a hand clutch in front of it where a guard would usually be placed.
Haru: Well, would you look at that? My own personal weapon, even has a gimmick and everything.
Decarabia: Shall we start this duel of ours?
Haru: Yeah, I'll defeat you with this by my hands and this sword. My Käseschäler if you will.
This was his go-to username for both games and social media back in his world, meaning "Cheese peeler" in German. He thought it was really funny how it sounded so cool despite what it really meant. Now, he named his personal weapon just that as he started bolting towards the Bone King.
He started it off with a heavy two-handed overhead slash, the lightning boosting his speed but not as much as Captain's Orders would, only fast enough to make him a blur and nothing more. The attack itself was blocked by Decarabia's scythe, but even then, the sheer force behind it caused the ground beneath his feet to shatter and break.
But Haru's intention wasn't with this attack at all, as unbeknownst to the Bone King, he was currently directing most of the red lightning into his left leg inside the armor. He then reeled back this leg and kicked him as hard as he could, bolts of lightning crackling out of his foot as it caused his opponent to go flying, the bones that made up his right shoulder and upper right arm visibly had cracks.
Haru followed him, getting in behind the Bone King and pulling his sword's clutch with his index and middle fingers, its blade quickly being flooded by red energy as a loud and gruff voice could be heard coming from the hilt of the sword, making a strange announcement.
One Charge!
He then delivers a blow to Decarabia's scythe, completely shattering the weapon as he then quickly shifts the sword to cut off the very arm that was holding said scythe, fragments of black bone flew in the air as the arm separated from his body, being somewhat obscured by the gray smoke that the Bone King's body emitted.
Two Charge!
The gruff voice announced once more, Haru having pulled the clutch for a second time as the formerly red covered blade was now in a bubbling blood red, it was almost as if Käseschäler itself was the one bleeding out from its strikes rather than his opponent as he then struck Decarabia with it. Managing to cut through his cloak and heavy armor before kicking him once more, sending him crashing into the ground, dragging across it.
The man got up, dirt and grass smeared onto the skeleton's skull and armor, attempting to clean himself whilst regrowing his chopped arm. At the same time, Haru was slowly approaching him, taking a nice, calm, and leisurely walk with his sword resting upon his shoulder.
Decarabia: Sárkány Rohanás!
He quickly turned back to face Haru, firing off the full-sized skeleton of a dragon out of his chopped arm, its eyes glowing red as it rushed towards the boy, eventually ramming into him with the force of a steam engine backing it up, causing parts of his armor to crack, namely his helmet and the left side of his upper torso.
His sword was barely able to make even a dent in it despite the weapon being boosted. At the same time, he had to focus on slowing himself down, using several bone tendrils to anchor himself to no avail, all of this caused him to very audibly grunt as he struggled to keep this attack at bay. But at least the sword kept him a good enough distance away from the mouth as it began to open its jaws, showing off its sharp teeth, clearly trying to get a bite out of him.
Three Charge!
Haru pulled the clutch once again, thrice now as the voice had just announced. The energy that currently coated the blade going from a liquidy blood red into a fiery dark red, almost like the sword was engulfed in flames based on the look of it at this point in the pair's fight.
With this, he was able to take revenge and crack the skeletal dragon ramming into him, pushing Käseschäler's straight edge into the indent he made, eventually causing the skull to finally break and allowing him to slice through the rest of the dragon with relative ease, the blade catching on the bones at certain points.
But there was no time to take a breather, as he soon found himself being pushed back once more, as Decarabia followed up his dragon after seeing it being sliced apart with a massive storm of extremely sharp black bones. A similar attack to Haru's own Hundred Impale, but on a much larger scale with the same power behind it as the dragon skeleton that he had destroyed just seconds ago.
It's not even just the punch the attack itself packed that did damage to him, as some of the many bones he fired got through, impaling Haru in various places, having somehow pierced through his armor. The wounds dripped with blood along their entry and exit holes, although this didn't cause any pain for him at all, as the power flowing through his body was still numbing the physical pain from his injuries.
All while he held his sword the same way as he did with the dragon skeleton, using it to keep distance between him and the storm of bones. Then, he finally caved in, and fired off the energy that had built up on his sword's blade in a massive wave-like slash that sliced through the dozens upon dozens of bones that were pushing him back, cutting the storm of bones in half. His counterattack ending with the slash cutting into the Bone King himself. Gray smoke rising from and puffing out of the wound in place of blood.
On-
Tw-
Thr-
Death Charge!
The energy that coated the entirety of Käseschäler's blade going from red to a bubbling liquidy blood red then to a fiery dark red and lastly to a sinister, almost demonic, deep maroon. Haru having pulled the hand clutch a total of four times consecutively in rapid succession, as the energy that coated it had reset back to nothing after firing off that slash earlier.
After that, he gripped his sword tightly with both of his hands, before raising it up into the air as the maroon energy violently bursted upward, generating a bit of red lightning around itself as it pierced the clouds just above him. The force of blast pushing him into the ground he stood on, causing a crater to form as Haru seemed to be struggling to keep his balance.
Haru then brought the powered-up sword down upon his opponent, as the Bone King created a dome made of black bones around himself in a last-minute effort. After the attack impacted, smoke billowed out from the wreckage of the dome, the man struggling to keep standing as nearly half of his skeletal body was obliterated in the blast.
Käseschäler skipped along the grassy field, making metallic clanking sounds as it did so. As Decarabia looked on with a bit of disappointment on his face, Haru having apparently thrown his new sword off to the side like it was nothing. The man definitely thought he would be finished off by such a unique and powerful weapon, but it seems as though the boy had some different plans for him.
Haru: Now...witness my "Rheinübung Sinker"....
And with his right thumb, he presses a rectangular button located on the top of his belt's buckle. This action causes the dark red crystal bone housed in its center to glow as the same loud and gruff voice that his sword used for its announcements could be heard once more, this time from the same buckle currently glowing.
Ride Ocean!
Red-colored electricity flows outward from the crystal, condensing down and coating both of his lower legs in it, making it look as if they were glowing red hot. Haru shifted his left leg back, leaving his right leg in front as he then flared out his arms to the side, taking a deep breath before running towards Decarabia.
He then leaps into the air at a certain distance before performing a series of front kicks mid-air, alternating between his left and right leg, in an almost scissor kick-like fashion, prior to going into a devastating axe kick with his left before finally landing on his knee in a sort-of superhero landing pose and turning back, all as the energy around his legs dissipated.
This last attack of his managing to shatter the upper-right half of the Bone King's skull, before causing a red-tinted explosion just moments later. Leaving him lying on the grass-covered ground, gray smoke coming and billowing out of all his wounds and covering up the obliterated half of his body in the process, all as Haru turned once more, this time to look at the very clearly defeated Bone King.
Silence slowly but surely filled the former battlefield, as the two men stared at each other for quite a while. Until Haru, who was still clad in his sovereign form's armor, showed an open palm to Decarabia, the ground below him shaking a bit as several black bones raised the Bone King up, the two now face to face.
Decarabia: What do you think you're doing, boy?
Haru: I'm going to make you fulfill that deal, that's what I'm doing. I defeated you in our duel already, it's time for you to keep your end of the bargain.
Decarabia: That one, huh? Fine....But listen very carefully, because I'm only going to say it this one time. Do you understand, boy?
Haru nods at him, as he questions if Drodia is listening as well in his head. All while Decarabia begins to tell the tale of how he became who he is today, the feared yet seemingly mythical Grim Reaper. And more importantly, in Haru's eyes anyway, the origin of his power to create and command bones in the first place.
