Chapter 22:

Vol 2 Chapter 3: The Forecast part 3

Gates of Ardion

Zion Shin and Zole were invited to the royal palace; they were waiting in a room. The room was of utmost luxury; there were high-quality magic stones embedded into the walls, which provided not only excellent illumination but also had a calming and soothing effect on those who were inside.

The room was designed to be sufficient for both waiting and discussion, as it had a table in the centre made of high-tiered wood and two luxurious sofas beside it. The wood was so powerful that it alone emitted a powerful aura that the two guests instantly noticed the moment they entered the room. Should the table be reused and converted into a weapon, it would be no inferior to any other metal weapon. The table was made of tier-seven wood; in comparison, in terms of power and durability, it was on par with a tier-five metal.

The room in which the two guests were sitting was used for discussing important topics and events. And, of course, it was a means to show off the kingdom's wealth. Other than the table, there were two extraordinary items in the room; two sets of armour, which were finely placed on two sides of the room, facing the table and at each other. The armours were placed on an armour stand, and ordinary people were forbidden to touch home.

These armours can only be used by royalty when crises arise. Some would say that these two sets of plated armour, which seemed ordinary, yet posed great powers, were among the national-level treasures of the kingdom. They were made of all tier-seven materials and were enchanted.

Despite the calming effects of the magical stones, despite the closeness of such worldly treasures, Zion was still anxious about what may transpire in the future,  whether the future she had foreseen could be altered. Even as they were waiting, her hands were still shaking slightly.

They needed to wait only a few minutes before the door finally opened, and someone stepped in. This person was not a servant but was the first princess herself. She had long, shining, blinding blond hair. The girl had beautiful yet dim, cold green eyes, which instantly stared at the guests the moment she stepped in through the door.

The girl wore a red tunic, which was tucked into her goldish pants. Her feet were protected by black boots, which almost reached her knees. The girl also wore a black collar over her neck designed with many glimmering gems. On the girl's left side was a sword, which was placed in a finely crafted but still plain red scabbard.

The first princess, Nier Onll Balsum, was known for her unique temper and coldness. Despite being royalty, she was called a monster, for she was a foe who had never tasted defeat. Most people feared her for her unique demeanour; some called her The Silent Killer. Whenever she was fighting, she showed no sign of emotion, also as if she was emotional less. Her opponents felt as if they were fighting with something, not someone. She could easily be considered to be among the top 100 most powerful characters in the kingdom.

"Lady Niel... Thank you for accepting our request for an audience... We bare terrible news... Another tragedy is about to happen... This time the location is, The Fricted Forest!" Spoke up Zion after a brief moment.

The first princess didn't say a single word; she slowly walked over to the sofa in front of the two guests and then sat down while still gazing coldly at the cultivators.

"Zion Shin, it appears that you are troubled. Could it be that the main cause you came here was not to convey this event but also to request aid? For you to come in person, it must be quite the predicament!" Stated the princess coldly.

"That is correct, my lady! The opponent that we need to defeat is out of my league... Two mythical beasts, one is proficient in fore while the other uses cold... And presumably their owner... An even more powerful lich!" Explained Zion as she returned the closer gaze.

"A powerful lich, you say? Fine, for I am in search of a mighty adversary; I shall lead this assault against this lich of yours! However, should this alleged being merely an artifice, I shall execute you by decapitation!" Declared the princes in an even colder tone, and her eyes were filled with anger.

"That I understand, my lady! But I must add that I know you are powerful, but you must be careful! I only witnessed the mythical beasts' attack, and even they were capable of destroying an entire town all by themselves!" Replied almost instantly, the cultivator with an unwavering glare.

"A mythical beast is frivolity but mere ignoble beasts! They will fall by my blade. As for that lich, since you seem fervent and have been loyal to the royal family, I shall heed your word and act with vigilance!" Answered the princess after a moment of thinking, as she scratched her neck where she wore that collar.

As she scratched her neck, she unintentionally moved her neckwear slightly, revealing slightly irritated skin underneath it. The moment she noticed that she had moved her collar, she quickly fixed it.

"I do hope that you can deal with those beasts just as easily as you have mentioned, my lady! But as I said, I only had a chance to take a glance, and they didn't seem to use their full force in that moment-long vision!" Declared Zion with a slightly shaking voice, but she still kept staring into the eyes of the princess.

"I will deal with those varmints; they are of no concern to me! Be ready; we shall vamoose tomorrow morning; I have high expectations for you! And with this, I declare this meeting adjourned!" Announced her decision, Princess Nier, and with that, instantly stood up.

At that very moment, she grabbed the hilt of her sword and squizzed it as she turned around. As her face was no longer turned towards her guests, a very thin grin crawled up onto her face. It was so unnoticeable that even if she were facing her guests, they wouldn't have been able to see it.

And with this meeting end, the two cultivators were finally relieved that they had delivered the news and that they had hopes of facing that enemy which they had foreseen; however, just as we tend to underestimate moving objects' speed and their distance, the cultivators, and even Princes Nier too have miscalculated what they were about to face.
