Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: The boy behind the monster

The Kaiju King

“What the hell?!” Leon looked back, horrified.

“No way. A Kaiju…” Hikari gasped. Her legs felt numb. She couldn’t move.

“We’re gonna die,” she whispered.

“Like hell we are. Give him hell guys!” Jacob signaled as his robotic arm transformed into a machine gun leaking out bullets relentlessly. The Kaiju charged towards him, ignoring the damage the bullet was doing. As its hand was about to gouge at Jacob's eyes, an enormous fist hit it on the face, sending it flying across the side. Jacob looked back to see it was Hermoine with her big nano machine gauntlets.

“Thanks for the cover, Hermoine. Without those fists of yours…”
“Less chit chatting, more fighting,” Leon said, jumping above them and towards the Kaiju..

“Wait, Leon” Jacob couldn’t finish his words as Leon went on the offense. Pulling out his two revolvers with style, he began shooting at it relentlessly.

“With my cybernetic eye, I can detect your weak points with ease!”

The bullets were piercing through the skin of the Kaiju with ease, making it bleed continually
“Leon, don’t get too close!!” Hermoine yelled.

“I got this. How do you like that so-called monster of beyond!?” he said, inching closer to it while continuing to shoot. It looked like it was about to go down, or so it seemed. Suddenly, The Kaiju’s hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed Leon by the head, crushing it in mere seconds.

“What…” Jacob couldn’t believe what had just happened.

“You…you bastard, you’ll pay for this!!!” Hermoine shouted in anger as she pulled out her gauntlets aiming at the Kaiju. She punched it in the chin, knocking it back a few yards. Before it could get up, she continued to rain down a barrage of giant fists, pummeling the beast to the ground. It was her trademark move “Gatling storm!”

However, its eyes gazed back at her. In a matter of seconds, the Kaiju had taken hold of both gauntlets and a bizarre red pattern had surfaced on them.

“What are you…AAAAH!” She screamed violently.

“Damn it! Hermoine’s in the front. I can’t shoot it like this!” Jacob panicked.

The gauntlets vaporized in thin air with only her hand remaining, which the Kaiju crushed with brute force. As it was about to touch her head, Hermoine as a last desperation move, tried using her tail to poke at its eye.

“I have to move!” she murmured.

It was pointless. It grabbed the tail with its right hand without looking and pulled it towards him, trapping her in its hands. Immediately, its left hand transformed into a modified version of Hermione's gauntlet. The gauntlet had spikes piercing out of each knuckle and had a black and red color to it.

“Eh-”

In a single swoop, the monster punched her face to the ground as a splat of blood flew out of it. It even hit Jacob’s face. With blood dripping down its chin, it gazed upon Jacob. As soon as their eyes met, Jacob had lost it .

“Screw this…I’m out, I'm out!!”
He pushed Hikari to the front and ran. Instead of hitting Hikari first, the Kaiju jumped towards Jacob as it pulled its hand backwards. The hand transformed. Jacob looked back to see it approaching with what would seem to be that modified gauntlet of hermoines. But the size was twice or thrice as before. It was big as a helicopter, encompassing the sun above jacob’s head.

“Stay away stay aw-”

Within mere seconds it squished Jacob in the dirt. It looked back at Hikari’s eyes and slowly approached her. She had lost her will to move. There was no escaping. Just at the moment, Kyo had shown up at the scene. His eyes glanced at Hikari, who looked back at him with hopelessness and sorrow.

“Save m-” She couldnt finish as her head spun up side down. An instant death. That posture, that helplessness, all triggered the nastiest memories Kyo had in him. Anger flowed through him like never before. There was no second guessing. There was no declaration needed. The only intent that could be seen in his eyes was that of a killer. Both the Kaiju and Kyo rushed towards each other. Both of their fists clashed, causing a ripple in the air. Kyo began to punch furiously at the Kaiju. Instead of dodging it the Kaiju took each hit head on. It was more like an animal than a person. Slowly a spark of flames emerged. Kyo unleashed his meto at the monster, the power of the flames. The Kaiju was unable to withstand the blows and was send flying back towards a building. Kyo didn't waste a second. He jumped to the top. His palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest as the hands were pressed together. Lightning immediately emerged.

“Hasshoken Denki!”

A wave of thunder blasted from the palm as he opened them. The Kaiju jumped to the side avoiding the powerful attack. It had finally avoided an attack. It instinctvely realized that attack would have killed it. The attack had decimated the building in which the monster was standing. This made it even more mad. Its Hands vibrated as a red glow leaked from its chest towards its face and on to its eyes. Suddenly Kyo noticed some huge gills forming in its throat. It sucked the air rapidly. Thespikes on its back began to glow red from the bottom to the neck. It didn't take long for Kyo to realize what was about to happen . He immediately turned right to cover himself behind a building.

“ROOOOOOARRRRR!!!!”

A huge energy beam bursted out of its mouth. Destroying the buildings in the front, dicentigrating everything it touched. It was finally tiring itself out.

“You’re powerful,” Kyo’s voice echoed in the background. A big silhouette of his formed behind the monster with one eye glowing brightly blue.

“But unfortunately for you, I'm the strongest!”

Kyo suddenly warped behind him. With a fist that seemed to have a mix of unique elements combined, he punched a hole right through the Kaiju’s gut as blood flowed out rapidly. The Kaiju noticed there was a hole inside it. It broke free from his grasp and squirmed like a dying animal. Kyo’s eyes looked as if he had vented all of his anger. Suddenly weird noises emerged from the Kaiju. Words that seemed to have no meaning.

“@3%&*?!@$@$%^&*”

“What the hell”

The inner sides were repairing but its body also seemed to crumble like a clay pot. The red glow from its chest intensified to the point Kyo had to look away because it was so bright. He looked back to see that the monster had completely stopped moving. Its body seemed to have turned into stone. He went closer to break the head and end this monster but suddenly the face crack peeled off.

“What!”
He couldn't believe his own eyes. It was the face of a child, a human boy. The boy’s body fell off as the front of the stone broke. Kyo looked in disbelief at what had just happened. He roze his handa gain to kill it but his hand started to shake supposed to do? Kill the boy? For what? A few mercenaries he knew for a day. He realized that the familiarity he had with the boy and those mercenaries were no different.

But he also knew to never mistake a threat when he saw one, not again. But why…why couldn't he give the final blow? Was it a memory of the past or a sympathetic feeling deep inside of him? Whatever the reason was he couldn’t.

“Killing a monster is no problem, but…”

He pulled the boy up gently. From physical appearance, the boy was about 7 years old. The boy looked ordinary. The only unique trait was half his face, the left side was deformed. As if the skins had peeled off in areas revealing some bone structure or teeth. But that didn’t bother Kyo.

“How in the world is a human boy connected to one of the most dangerous powers in the universe?”

He didn’t know what to do. But he couldn’t just leave the boy there. Soon, the previous aircraft came to pick them up. The man came out and looked around. Then he looked back at Kyo.

“Where are the rest?” he asked.

“Dead”
“I see. How?” His voice lacked any sympathy, just a formal gesture.
“A Kaiju”, Kyo replied.
“Seriously? Where is it?”

“I killed it. Its that clay monster over there”

he pointed at the remains. The man didnt seem to buy it. Afterall a monster killing 4 crew memebers with only the extra surviving. His eyes glanced back at Kyo.
“ This was a catagory F mission ya know. You didn't kill them, did you?”

Kyo knew where this man was getting at.

“I’ll give you half of what I get from the guild as compensation so can you stop asking me stuff.”

The man smirked and said,

“I guess they were killed by a Kaiju. To think such a horrific monster existed!”

Kyo picked the boy up and laid him down in the row of chairs.

“Woah. You picked up a human boy? Gonna sell it to the underworld?”
Kyo didnt answer for a while. He looked back at the boy, who was laid down on the bench.

“Just a boy I picked up. I don’t have any intention of doing anything till I learn more. Let’s both leave it at that, shall we?”

“Alright. Looks like I gotta call the HR department to pick the bodies of the rest.”

The aircraft took off from Earth. Kyo looked back at the planet, thinking what just happened in ‌24 hours. He glanced back at the boy. His eyes were staring with great focus. Not only because the thought of seeing the human boy made him curious, but there was something greater to it.

“That boy…why can’t I sense his Meto?”
