Chapter 35:

Review

Hacker Class

Alden went down the stairs so he could go to the dining room where dinner would be served. As he walked past the lounge, something playing on the television stopped him in his tracks.

Light McKing.

He was in an interview, and it seems that they were asking him questions about the false gate.

"So, I hear that you single-handedly cleared the dungeon when the false gate appeared. Our reports say that it was a B-ranked dungeon. So far you've stayed silent about this. Are you finally able to say something about this?" A well-dressed male reporter asked, a professional smile on his face.

"Well, while I do admit to doing a large portion of the work, by saying I single-handedly cleared the dungeon I would be taking away credit from others who also did their share. What happened was I had a larger share, and I did my share. Some risked their life so that we could escape that dungeon," Light McKing was an excellent actor, his words were eloquent and he never stammered so that the crowd kept their gaze on his perfect face. "For example, my leader, who unfortunately died in that dungeon. He made me feel welcome from the very first moment I was there and I was saddened by his death. Many others died that day, brave people."

The reporter nodded a serious expression on his face, "That is very true. Nevertheless, you did excellent and I'm sure they're proud of your efforts. It means their deaths were not in vain."

"I hope so," Light McKing said with a seemingly sad laugh.

"Questions have also been coming in about the F-class Ranger that went into the dungeon. You must have done a brilliant job if even he survived. Reports say that he was the first to leave the dungeon. So, how did he survive," The reporter asked? A curious look sitting on his face.

Alden flinched when he heard the question. Light McKing seemed to do the same, but he recomposed himself so fast that most probably nobody even noticed.

"Well, you know, since everyone has a share in proportion to their strength. Naturally, he had the easiest part. I won't blame him, though. He didn't choose to be weak. I'm just glad he stayed safe even when he left in a hurry. He made it to the gate alone and thus, he was the first to leave. I'm just happy he's fine." A smile sat upon his face as he answered. The audience probably thought it was purely out of relief and concern but Alden instantly knew, that was a look full of slyness.

"So he ran away? He must have been afraid. That, however, was very foolish of him, I think Mr McKing. It's great that you're such a gentle-" The television switched off and Alden saw his mother entering the room.

"I'm sorry you had to see that, Alden," His mother said to him.

Alden forced a smile as he led his mother to the dining room, "It's fine, Mom. Well, dinner is waiting."

After Dinner Alden returned to his room and began going through all he had gotten in the dungeon.

"Firstly, I used dungeon capture to take control of the dungeon which is mine now, and I got a new title," Alden mumbled to himself.

Before him, on a screen, read:

TITLES: DOMAIN MASTER

When Alden pressed on the info about the title, it said: User has ownership of a domain. Is the ultimate master within these spaces. Along with that, Alden remember receiving another notification that said.

[POTENTIAL PATH UNLOCKED]

Alden didn't understand what that meant but he just checked out his new skills. He had acquired a skill named: [DOMAIN TRANSFER (lv1)] it allowed him or anything he touched to teleport into his dungeon. This skill consumed no energy.

The consumable skill he received was [SKILL COMBINATION], this skill allowed him to combine his skills. Alden wasn't sure how he'd use that but he was happy since it seemed somewhat helpful. Finally, his final skill was [STUN (lv1)] and it immobilized opponents weaker than him for 10 seconds.

Alden was somewhat happy with the selection of skills he received. Finally, he received 60 points for clearing the dungeon. He received a further bonus of 30 points.

For completing the condition of clearing the dungeon, he received 3 skill points, 60 EXP, and a +10 increase in all physical statistics.

Looking back at the results, almost dying was kind of worth it. Alden realized that he left the dungeon with more than he came for.

"Oh, and this," Alden summoned his sword staff. Its wide curved blade glimmered in the sunlight. He'd have to practice a bit more to find out more about his creation.

"And now, I've got to check on Lily," Alden thought. "He had some stuff to discuss with her."
