Chapter 38:

S-class

Hacker Class

Alden stared at the creatures before him. The area in which the party currently stood in was enormous, and Alden felt it made them feel tiny... insignificant even.

E- grade monsters were currently swarming them but...Alden knew. There was more.

The lizards came few at a time at first, but then they grew in number.

[DOOM LIZARD]

Alden watched as the monsters skittered closer to them, getting repelled by different spells.

A single reptile got too close to the rear so Alden directed his puppet there, the puppet he used now was a new one, since his old puppet had been left under the rocks in the Orc dungeon.

This puppet had two blades connected to it's hands, and it was faster then his older puppet. The best thing about puppeteer is their physical stats didn't matter when controlling puppets. This puppet was fast, and Alden could easily bring down opponents.

Like a high tide, the lizards that kept growing in numbers were pulled towards the party.

They snarled and roared savagely, as they ran toward the group. Alden directed his puppet, and it swung it's blade, decapitating a lizard. Another came and the sword flashed again, and when it stopped moving blood at upon its once shiny blade.

"They keep increasing!" Prince shouted as he swung his twin blades. Two daggers were in his hands, and his every attack would release dangerous explosion like attacks. These attacks destroyed the Doom Lizards easily.

"E-grade..." Alden thought to himself. That boy was very much skilled. He utilizes his abilities well.

"Captain," One of the strikers shouted to Sarah Foster."I think you're going to have to intervene!"

Sarah Foster simply nodded, all this while she stood in the middle of the formation watching the others fight.

Sarah Foster closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, before breathing out. As the breath left her body, blue energy began to surround her.

Slowly, she began to rise into the air. Blue energy spun around her, and it was like she had been wrapped up by a tornado that had been captured and knit so that it formed a blue blanket.

A few seconds later, she was there, levitating in the air, and she opened her eyes.

Her cold, fierce gaze fell upon the swarm of monsters, her eyes regarded them with some unknown emotion, before her now glowing pupils were hidden away by her eyelids.

She raised a hand, and slowly she pushed downward. The hundreds, no maybe even thousands of Doom Lizards that filled the dungeon were suddenly pushed into the floor, crushed. All by her hand.

Nobody moved, not human or monster. Monster however, could not move.

They were all dead but...

She did not even touch them.

Aldens eyes were wide with shock as he regarded the massacre before him. He had been wondering why Sofia Foster had been standing aside, not fighting, but now he understood.

If she fought, they would have nothing to do.

"Who is she...?" Alden unconsciously muttered.

"Sofia Foster?" Prince said turning to Alden. His eyebrow was raised."You really don't know?"

Alden hesitated for a moment before shaking his head.

"Man, it seems like you are pretty clueless," Prince grumbled."She, she's a recent S-class Ranger. She's a gravity wielder."

Alden raised his eyes to glance at Sarah Foster, who was returning to the ground.

"What's her class?" Alden asked Prince.

"Class?" Prince repeated, narrowing his eyes.

"Yeah, is she a striker?" Alden asked as he regarded her. Her long range attacks probably out her in that category.

"S-class Ranger's don't have classes. They're basically one man armies anyways." Prince explained, like teacher correcting a student."Man, you really are clueless."

Alden looked at the woman standing before him. Her level of power, was what he aspired to achieve.

Alden closed his eyes and reopened them, he glanced at his open palm.

Power, amazing, wasn't it?

Alden closed his hand into a fist, renewing his vow as he did so.

He would get strong, no matter the cost!

Alden was broken out of his thoughts by shouting. New monsters had appeared.

The lizards were there again, but that was not what was worrying.

There were bats, bats the size of a cow flying toward them. They screeched as they flew toward the group, and the strikers immediately began launching attacks from afar.

"How do we defend against that?" Someone shouted.

"Keep focusing on the lizards. I'll watch the Doom Bats!" Sarah Foster said to the group.

And so they continued to fight.

The strikers would support the wielders from afar and the healer helped those that got serious injuries.

The tank just made sure to protect those who were weak at close combat, like Alden or the strikers and healers.

Alden stayed at the center of the formation, controlling his puppet from afar. Since the puppet was not human, Alden could place it further front but he made sure not to send it too far, as it could get destroyed, leaving him defenseless.

Conjuring a puppet here would give away the fact that he was not as weak as he seemed.

"Captain Foster!" Said their summoner who was a tall skinny man that controlled a big brown wolf. "There is a strange mist appearing!"

Alden didn't hear what happened next, because suddenly, within the chaos.

He saw his father.
