Chapter 5:
The 'narrator' and the 'writer'
The 'writer' lays in the middle of these endless halls as always. Not doing anything interesting. Simply laying there to bore the audience if there were any at all.
"Why do I make you narrate such mean things?" The 'writer' questions.
"The question is, what's wrong?" The 'narrator' asks her back.
"Regret?" She answers with uncertainty.
"What are you regretting?" The 'narrator' continues to ask.
"Lot of things. Everything was supposed to be good. But my confidence is lacking and I feel like I made quick decisions like an ignorant child. Creating garbage for others to pick up rather than a happy photo for them to hang."
"Why did you create this book?" He asks to remind her of her motivation.
"To let people learn more about you? Because you are a character from a book that I am unable to continue. In this little story with short interactions, as it is solely focused on you and I, a day to day conversation simple enough to read.
I thought it was an interesting idea. You could say that this was an experimental book."
"What made you think it wasn't good enough?"
"My lack of confidence. My lack of competence. No second voices other than my own to speak up. And my voice are nothing but ugly slurs to my own incompetence."
"As you know, anything can be a story. Whether it's a progressive change or an idle image, something happens somewhere with or without the progression of time. And whether the story is good or not, it only depends on your own perspective and your preferred genres of story."
"I'm not sure I can process everything you said."
"Then let just be it know that, you may think no one reads your story. But I'm still narrating your story. And I sure find boredom in many things but I might as well find interests in those boring tales. You know there is no book I won't read."
"Am I supposed to be comforted by that?"
"Take it as you wish. But if you stop writing, I will stop existing. And you know what you want."
"I want you to exist. And all of my other characters to exist. I will keep writing even with my doubts. Although procrastination is inevitable, I will still not give up just because of simple negativity. I know what I want to do and I enjoy doing it. Even if there's no one who's enjoying what I am doing yet, someday there might be, but either way, I'll do it for my own enjoyment." The 'writer' stands up confidently. "And I say! This story may seem idle and unexciting! But it's a story that I enjoy so who says no one else will enjoy? Interactions is what I've always wanted to see more in stories! Deep conversations outside of a plot or a story arc. And yes, the conversation itself is the main point of the story. But you know? It's more tranquille.
I forgot what I'm trying to say but the important question now is...!" She points at the 'narrator'. "What is the name of your room?!"
"..." The 'narrator' is dumbfounded by her question.
"I had a dream about movies and story arcs, and I was noting them in my chapter list. So when I woke up, I decided to check out my notes and think about whether I should make one or not. And I saw that I had an Excel file about the outline of the story. And when I looked at the name of your room, I saw Timeless Reading Room. That's lame!" She says.
"So you know what's the name but you're asking me anyway?"
"I just can't accept it! We need to find a better name! It's too lame!"
After a few minutes of checking more of her notes, she got distracted and is now watching videos on the internet.
"Is that supposed to make you special? If so, I can assure you that many character have short attention span." Says the 'narrator'.
"No! Not at all! But you with your snarky comments, yes!" She responds bitterly.
A very long time later, the 'writer' returns.
"Oh, my gosh. I got an idea." Says the 'writer'. "It initially was one idea but another idea came with it! Your Cursed Space! This place! Shall be called the Writing Desk! And it's now mine as well! :D"
"Pardon?" The 'narrator' asks.
"I was initially thinking that we should each have a Cursed Space that is linked to each other. But I have decided that it should be both ours, instead. The Writing Desk. Where the main chamber is actually the writer's room. While you're in the reading/archive room, with the books to read and for you to narrate. Genius!
And this time, it's not gonna be about you! (Edgar Allan Poe theme) It's gonna be about me! (Alice's Adventure in Wonderland theme)"
"Good for you. By the way, it seems like your motivation have returned. I wonder how much longer will you stay until you leave again." The 'narrator' chuckles.
"Please, don't remind me of that. I don't want to lose motivation again. (_ _||| )"
