Chapter 51:

A humans rage

Hacker Class

A roar shook the walls of the dungeon, it was like a river filled with the turbulent and unsteady waters of pain.

The dragon spread it's massive wings before with one powerful flap, it carries itself into the air, away from Alden and his swordstaff. Alden felt a strong gust of wind blow against his face, and his hair flew dramatically. The dragon hovered in the sky over him a few seconds before it landed a distance away.

"He doesn't sound too happy..." Alden laughed nervously as his swordstaff disappeared.

"You disgusting human! How dare you? You dare place a scratch on me, a dragon with royal blood running through my veins!? I will make you regret ever existing."

"Damn, chill man, it's not that deep," Alden mumbled before chuckling as he uttered his next words. "Your wound,I mean. And the situation if you think about it."

The dragon did not reply, but instead it's breathing became hurried and heavy, and a light covered it's body. The light grew brighter, hiding the dragons body within.

Alden stood by as watched cautiously, as the light grew. Then the silhouette of the dragon that had been evident shrinked in size, before all that was visible was a figure of a man.

Alden sucked in a cold breath, and his eyes twitched.

There was no more dragon, just a man. The man seemed like a sculpture of a Greek warrior. Like he had been shaped and sculpted with the sole aim of perfection.

His face was perfectly shaped, and his pale skin was smooth. His hair was blood red, and it perfectly complemented his snow like skin.

His attire consisted of what seemed to be a scale armor. Though the way it covered his body, it seemed like an exoskeleton or a second skin. It was dark red, and it was shiny and clean, so much so that it reflected the light of the dungeon.

"Oh, so is this your final transformation," Alden couldn't be surprised anymore. The dragon had become a human, and now fighting it would be more troublesome killing it. Beside that, Alden also wondered why the dragon hadwent into that form since Alden picked up less energy from the dragon after the transformation. He'd have to wait and see.

The dragon-now man, simply laughed. A short, arrogant laugh.

He shook his head, and closed his eyes. His arrogant smile disappeared, and his brows furrowed. He seemed to take in a breath, and when he let it out, something happened.

A massive wave of pure energy spread, like a Soundwave it reached every nook and cranny of the dungeon.

The blood soaked hair of the dragon began to turn white, until it's hair was a mix of both red and white. It's eyebrows had a similar pattern to them.

"Ahhhh," The dragon let out a groan, as if he was trying to control something."Ahhhh!"

Finally, the flame like aura surrounding it calmed a little, though it still danced around, as lively as a forest fire.

The dragon opened it's eyes, which sat upon Aldens cautious figure.

"Ascension," The dragon said, it's voice reverberating with energy. "Something a mere mortal as you could never even dream of acquiring."

Alden hardly heard it's words, for he was paralyzed by the dragons sheer presence.

...

A red light lit up the dungeon, it's glow casting a red glow reflecting off of the walls. Tendrils of red lightening skipped around the dragons body, around his limbs and his torso.

The rocks below his feet had begun to crack and break, and the wind given off by his raging energy blow them away, forming a sandstorm of sorts.

Alden clenched his quivering fists as hard as he could. How long would it take him if he had to master that technique? Was it a skill that he could steal? However, when Alden activated his replication skill, he discovered he could copy no skill from the monster.

"Why can't I attain that power?" Alden asked, he had never felt such a strong desire for power. At least not for a specific type of power but this... It was such pure energy that Alden felt intoxicated simply by sensing it in the air.

"Only dragons can use this power. Very few dragons, at that. Only a select few amongst the dragons can master this power up technique. In fact, it's rare for on the awaken such power."

How do I get it... Could I use his core to somehow get it? No... He said only dragons can awaken it, meaning he'd have to have a dragon bloodline to awaken the power. He could try, however.

"Enough talk," The dragon began walking toward Alden. "Die now."

He took a step forward before he disappeared.

"What!?" Aldens eyes widened as he searched for his opponent.

"Here." Alden felt a piercing pain in his ribs. The world became a blur and in the next second, Alden found himself at the other side of the dungeon,in a large crater witin the cavern wall.

"I didn't even see that attack..." Alden struggled to get up, but he realized that the dragon had once again disappeared. Then before him, the dragon appeared. Alden leaped toward it, his hand ready for a punch.he swung his arm, but the dragon lifted its arm, blocking him.

It's other arm clenched around Aldens neck. He lifted him into the air. It swung it's arm, and smashed him into the floor.

Alden gasped, pain ate into every single muscle in his body, and he felt his every bone twitching.

"What is this..." Alden could barely move, and he was lying flat on the ground, motionless. "It's crazy..."

"This is power." Alden felt a hand around the back of his neck. It had a cold touch, and a powerful grip. "pure dragonic power..."

Again, his vision blurred, and pain comparable to a thousand needles filled every atom of his body.

He was wheezing. Alden was wheezing, and coughing uncontrollably. His body trembled as he searched for the power to move. But there was no power.

" How does it feel? Being weak? Being... Worthless?!"

A hand gripped his leg, lifting him into the air. Alden could see an unclear silhouette, upside down in his vision. Again, the view disappeared.

Alden felt himself flung through the air. The wind was cold on his face, stinging him and forcing him eyes shut. Alden waited, he braced himself for the pain of smashing into a wall.

The pain never came.

Instead, something smashed against his back. A piercing pain fellow, making his spine feel like it snapped in half. The pain that followed was twice as bad. Alden was soon against the floor, with every bit of his body exploding with pain.

A foot pressed on his back, pushing him down, and cracking several rocks in the process.

"So, you came all the way here, thinking you'd defeat me and my brother?"

Laughter filled the air, uncontrollable bursts of mocking laughter. Alden felt himself shiver with anger at the mockery.

"If you still haven't come to terms with reality, I'll break it down for you."

The foot lifted off his back. Alden felt a tug on his cloak, as the dragon lifted him into the air.

The dragon looked into his eyes, and spoke.

"You see, my brother there... Though I hate to admit it, he is significantly more powerful then me. So if you can't even stand up to me..."

A few more bursts of laughter followed.

Then a few more bursts of laughter followed.

"Then you've no chance whatsoever with me!"

...

The dragon gazed mockingly at the human. Amusement filled his chest, it couldn't imagine that someone so weak hoped to outmatch both him and his brother.

It was hilarious, really.

"All you humans.. You're so arrogant. As amusing as it is, it disgusts me."

The dragon shot a piercing gaze into the humans eyes.

"Livestock should behave like livestock. Your race cannot be Predators!"

The human tried to speak, but his mouth failed to form mere words. He was pitifully weak.

"A... Monster says that?"

A mocking chuckle escaped his lips, it's very sound making the dragons blood boil.

"Insolent."

It slammed him into the ground, and sonic waves formed from the impact. A crater was carved into the rocky cavern floor.

"I wonder which disgraceful human gave birth to an abomination like you. Your very existence is a crime. It offends me!"

The human began to tremble, uncontrollably. The dragon smirked, the human seemed to be finally coming to term with reality. That should be fear. The human must realize that he could only walk the path of death.

A single hand pushed against the floor to push the human into a kneeling position. His hands shook under his weight, he seemed ready to collapse at any instant. Slowly, he lifted one leg, and pushed himself up. Soon, he stood. He could barely stand, but he did. What was he trying? Was he begging for his life?

The human spoke, his voice trembling.

"How dare you?"

The dragon narrowed his eyes. He could not see the humans face, as his head faced the ground but... His tone...

It was filled with rage.

"Take it back."

The dragon swung his hand, hitting the humans head. The human flew far into the distance, until he stuck in a wall.

"So human. Are you so pathetic that you cannot even come to terms with your own pitiful self?"

The human who lay within the crater in the wall did not reply. Instead, he lifted his head so that his eyes faced me. His face was a sight to behold. His face had contorted into an expression of pure rage. His eyes held a abysmal glare filled with an interminable fury. His teeth were clenched together, and his nose wrinkled. His brow was creased, and it was hardly hidden by his long curly mess of a hair.

The boy was powerless, and the dragon really believed that but... He was stubborn. And his stubbornness greatly infuriated the dragon.

The boy lifted his hand, slowly, and painfully. Blueish energy whirled and snakes around his arm, a helpless arm raised in defiance. What was it about the weak? The opressed? What was it about them, when they opposed their fate so vehemently even though it was it was definite and true. Why, even though it was known that they could do nothing, why then did he feel that way? Why did he feel like he had lost? Maybe it was beyond the physical. It was something spiritual. Maybe it was because he had lost that battle.

Maybe right now, that annoying, infuriating feeling deep in his chest, maybe that was what it was? No.

There was no losing. He was a dragon, he could not lose to a mere human. Not in any way or form, not in any realm or dimension, no! It would be a disgrace.

The dragon began to move forward, so he could crush the human, but he discovered something. He could not move.

He lowered his gaze, and his eyes landed upon his body. Blue energy, just like the one on the human, danced around his body. Was that why he could not move?

"You think this is enough? It affronts me!" The dragon began to forcibly move, and his flamy aura reappeared. It jumped around violently, as the dragon summoned all his power and tried to move. He felt himself sink into the ground as the ground below him began to crack.

The dragon lifted his head, to see the human flying through the air before him. Like a tornado, the same energy from before whirled around his limbs. The moment the dragon locked eyes with him, he felt that moving became twice as more difficult. He could not move at all, no matter how he tried.

"Hah, you arrogant bastard," The human inches closer, until he looked deep into the furious dragons eyes."I guess you're weaker then me."

...

"What!? What is this trickery!?" Anger raced across the dragons face, in it was a trace of panic.

"It's not trickery," Alden would have smirked, if he was not as furious. "It's power."

He swung his fist, and it smashed into the dragon face. One punch, two punches, three punches...

"I told you to take it back."

He summoned his swordstaff. He couldn't wait until the ten seconds were over, he had to end it now.

The blade flashed, and it was on course for the dragons neck. This was one down... Two to go.

The blade touched the dragons skin, it was about to sink in.

A blue light shone around the dragons body as the [stun] skill deactivated.

"damnit."

Alden pushed harder, he had broken the dragons skin, and blood was dripping out. All he needed to do now was slice through his throat.

One cannot always do what they needed to though, can they? Alden understood that when his swordstaff stopped, the dragons hand in its way.

"You will pay for that humiliation!" A fist slammed into Alden's stomach, and a pain comparable to a thousand knives slicing his flesh filled Alden.

Alden flew away, his body smashing into the wall across the tunnel.

Alden placed his hands against the ground and cursed, as he pushed himself up. He had lost his chance...

The dragon began to walk toward him, every footstep seemed louder than a volcanic eruption in the quiet dungeon. His presence was like powerful floodwaters, and it pushed against Alden's body, forcing him to submit to its current.

Alden refused. Like an embodiment of despair, the ghostlike figure of the dragon inched closer, every step washing away the struggling flame of hope within Alden.

It seemed all lost, the battle a lost cause, life finally seemed ready to leave, time seemed to run out and the hands of the clock were ready to stop ticking.

However, the clock ticked one more time , and another time more, and his inevitable end was delayed, all this when a notification hung in the air.
