Chapter 19:
Spice of Life
Rika was born into a family of assassins known as the Korosekai family. The head of the family, Yuugen is the younger brother of Engetsu Shibawara of the more esteemed Shibawara family. The Shibawara family was known to be Japan's most infamous assassin families. Seeking to make a name for himself, Yuugen broke off from the Shibawara family and formed the Korosekai family. His main reasoning for this was to better position himself to be head of the Bombino family, Italy's most notorious assassin family and the parent family of the Shibawara family. The Bombino family and its branch families were also secretly part of Illumous, the world's largest shadow organization.
Yuugen managed to quickly build up his branch family thanks to both his strength and that of his children. Rika was the 3rd oldest child, though easily one of the most talented. Rika didn't enjoy her harsh upbringing, but was too afraid of her father to try and escape it. Thus she became nothing more than an assassin obediently following orders. She finally gained some courage after her encounter with Mimi back in 2007 at age 10. It was that encounter that ultimately set Rika's path in motion. She decided to leave the life of an assassin behind to pursue a new life, but it would be difficult to do so with her father the way he is. Then, inspiration struck Rika after some poison training. She could become a chef.
Convincing her father was surprisingly easy considering he simply saw cooking as a way for Rika to not only improve her assassination skills, but to also potentially get close to and kill high profile targets that might eat her food. Thus, her admission to Tabemono gakuin was approved. It was there that Rika met Masaru and discovered her natural talent for cooking. Her time at Tabemono only solidified her resolve to never be an assassin again. She enjoyed her time with Masaru and wanted to be with him. Despite that, she never once told any of her non assassin/bounty hunter friends that she was an assassin. The fear of rejection was strong in Rika despite her confident and smug demeanor. Itsuki's fearful reaction to the revelation only solidified Rika's fear.
"I knew it. If I told Masaru I'm a murderer, he'd reject me. This isn't some fairy tale where people will just stay your friend after you revealed you've been killing countless people throughout your life. Despite his gourmet elitism, Masaru is part of the light world, while I'm from the dark underworld. We just can't be together. I thought that perhaps if I seduced him, he wouldn't reject me, but at this point, I have no faith," Rika thought as she stared at the now empty restaurant.
Upon hearing confirmation of Rika's assassin ties, Itsuki had run out in fear. Rika had no idea if she had called the police or not. Though the answer seemingly became clear upon the arrival of two women. One had a mature bob cut and dressed more casually in a jacket, jeans, and sneakers while the other had long purple hair and wore a business suit.
"Mutsumi, you're too obvious with your attire," the casually dressed one whispered.
"But it brings out my womanly charms more. Plus it is our official-"
"Then wait by the entrance. You won't be able to handle this wearing those high heels."
The casually dressed woman approached Rika with a smile on her face.
"Hello, I'm Reika Yuzume from the Tokyo metropolitan police. I was wondering if I could ask you some questions," the woman smiled.
"Heh, so she called the cops on me. Just great," Rika mumbled.
"Hmm? Did you just mention someone calling us? If you're referring to that girl from your place that ran out in a frenzy, then I'm afraid you are mistaken."
"So either you're lying to improve my mood, or you were going to come here anyway."
"Not a bad assumption. Though in this case, it would be the latter. I know full well who you are Miss Korosekai."
Rika instinctively lunged for the kill, only for Reika to counter her and disarm her.
"The hell!?"
"Your loss was quite predictable given your current physical and mental state. Though I should make clear the point that I am not here to arrest you, so long as you are compliant," Reika sternly stated.
"So the hell is it!? I'm not in a good mood!"
"First off, an unrelated question, did you kill Kazuya Takeda?"
"_!"
"Your expression tells me all I need to know. Well, we can't exactly build a case since there was no sign of his remains. For now he is merely a missing person. Now for my main question, are you involved in drug trafficking?"
"Huh!?"
"Good, seems like you're clean. That means I can trust you a bit," Reika smiled as she unpinned Rika.
"Whoa whoa, how the hell did you just assume all that!?"
"I'm the greatest detective in Tokyo, that's why. Now to follow up on my second question, yesterday, you and two other civilians assisted Superintendent Rikuma in a large scale bust of Noveau neo. However, through my own private investigation, I came to the find that a massive drug trade between an officer from the raiding force, and a member of the demon queen cult occurred. I was wondering if you might know anything."
"Wait what? One of the cops is distributing their crap? But how?"
"That is the mystery. I found traces of the cult's drugs in the storage room, yet no sign of anyone within the station being effected yet. Since the cult's drug trading business isn't exclusive to female customers, my search includes every single officer that was present during the raid. I also considered the possibility that you and your two friends from the outside were involved, but it appears that you at the very least are not. Though are your two friends associated with the underworld in anyway?"
"No, those two are normal. We aren't on the greatest of terms though, so that's why I recruited them."
"So you were the recruiter then. There is a contradiction in your statement though, an officer I interviewed mentioned that Helga Hepburn, whom was posing as a food dish, was able to trade blows with Krokow the Canterbury cannibal."
"That was me, I just swapped places with her."
"Interesting. Then why'd you carry Helga out over your shoulder in a crude manor?"
"Shit, I don't know this one. Dastard's the one that ultimately carried her out. I only saw them leave," Rika nervously thought.
"I told you it was because we're not on friendly terms. That's why I carried her like that."
"You're covering for someone," Reika glared.
"___!"
"The officer reported that you allegedly princess carried Miss Hepburn out rather than in the manor I described. Since you appeared to be truthful when covering for Helga, and due to the fact that your claim would logically explain the account, leads me to believe that the "you" that brought Helga out was someone else in disguise. If that person is indeed the one I suspect it might be, then I'm afraid this mess will become far more troublesome."
Rika went pale.
"Shit, this woman's good. Not only is she sharper than any of my knives, she's also demonstrated she can easily take me down in my current state. Sure my mental state's improved a bit, but my body still hasn't recovered from that clash with father. That and I'm still a little sore from yesterday. Shit, I'm trapped," Rika nervously thought.
...
At the police station, Makoto growled in bliss as Yumeko wrapped a hot towel around her head.
"You're so cute Mako-chan! You're so strong and have muscles yet still have such feminine charm," Yumeko gushed.
"What are you doing to that monster!?" Purin glared.
"Um, I'm pampering her!"
"Why the hell would she let you do that!? She'll crush your skull in her bare hand if we don't chain her up!"
"Relax gals. Mako's in the bliss state," Inoka chuckled.
"See! Inoka knows Mako-chan better than we do, and if she says it's fine, it's fine!" Yumeko glared as she removed the towel and began massaging Makoto's head.
"See, I know my lil sis even without the mind meldin."
"How the hell did you survive with this animal?" Purin glared.
"Well, ever since my fam found her by the temple doorstep an dopted her, she's been violence incarnate. If it weren't for the name tag left with her, we'd have named her after a wrathful deity. She had some sense of restraint as she didn't beat us up ALL the time, though I was encased in plaster a few times after her rampages. My pa's the one that was able to handle her. Makes sense considerin he's got those divine powers n shit."
"See, you should learn to embrace sisterly love, just like me and Ino," Yumeko snickered.
"No thanks, you two freaks are obsessed with marrying your sisters. I also hate that piece of shit that was born after me," Purin glared.
"Well, me and Mako got different chromos so nothing wrong with us getting all steamy. Though Yumyum's the messed up one. She wants to sleep with her bio sis and Mako."
"Um, yeah. I LOVE women stronger than me. It turns me on just imagining being pushed down and pounced upon by Mako-chan! Fujiko's also ripening into a woman that will one day be able to step all over me. KYAH! I can't wait for the day she becomes an adult and we can take our relationship to the next level!"
"Yamaguchi, I don't care if your father's the superintendent general. Spout crap like that again in my presence and I'm incarcerating you for a month," Himawari glared as she entered the room.
"Supee's here. Better get in line," Inoka chuckled.
The three immediately stood at attention. Even Makota got up and stood at attention.
"Seem's like Inohara's starting to act more professional. Perhaps we can move on to getting her in a proper uniform soon," Himawari noted.
"But she ROCKS her drip so well!" Yumeko pouted.
"She's literally just wearing a sports bra, shorts and sneakers," Purin glared.
"But it highlights her muscles and makes it easier for me to massage and oil them!"
"So why'd you shave off her eyebrows then?"
"Cause they looked like fat caterpillars! She looks so much cuter without them anyway. Plus it really set my heart a flutter to see her become obediently motionless as I held her head in my lap and-"
"*AHEM* We have more pressing matters ladies. I want you to investigate some things," Himawari glared.
...
"Your hypothetical partnership with the notorious thief Dastard, is a hindrance, but his involvement would suggest a scenario I was hoping would not come to be," Reika stated.
"Is it-"
"If Dastard truly was involved, then that would suggest ----..."
Rika's eyes went wide upon hearing Reika's hypothesis.
"No way, that's messed up!" Rika gasped.
"Now the ball is in your court. Will you cooperate with me? If you do, I can see that you are pardoned for your past crimes," Reika asked.
"You said yourself that you can't build a-"
"There is the murder case from 9 years ago at the cryogenics lab. The statue of limitations has not expired and we DO have proof to convict you of that murder. Plus it seems Superintendent Rikuma also has a case building up against you regarding Hinari Nozomi's murder."
"Alright, I get it. I'll be your bitch," Rika glared.
"Perfect, your cooperation is much appreciated. Now take out your phone so I can contact you later. For now you may return to work," Reika smiled.
...
At the police station, Yumeko licked Makoto's face as she placed a cigarette in Makoto's mouth.
"Ino really was right when she threw out the theory that we could domesticate you so easily," Yumeko giddily whispered into Makoto's ear.
"Yu...meko..."
"KYAAH! You've calmed to the point where you can say my name! How about another one," Yumeko cooed as she placed another cigarette in Makoto's mouth.
"Yumeko... I wanna fight... stop calming me," Makoto moaned.
"Don't worry, I'm just gonna domesticate you Mako-chan, then you'll be MY wrathful goddess," Yumeko arousingly smiled, as she placed another one of the cigarettes laced with drugs from the demon queen cult in Makoto's mouth.
