Chapter 16:

One mind, Two

Tales of Eden

"What...  is it that you want? What do you want to sacrifice?" A voice said in Moon's sleeping head.

Moon pondered these words as he slept.

Before he wakes up he dreams. He dreams of a big old house burning down.

"I hear screams. I hear their screams...

I...    am...  sorry. Maria... Bell...

Why did I do... ?"

Moon wakes up in his messy and dark room. He is greeted by the morning sun and Hikari sleeping in the bed. She holds onto him like she never wants to let go ever again.

Moon looks her in the face and sees the big smile on her face. This makes Moon forget his dream.

He puts his hand on his head and remembers "What... is it that you want? What do you want to sacrifice?"

He looks at Hikari and shakes his head.

Moon looks at his door being cracked open. He sees someone's eye.

The person behind the door says "Are you all good?"

Moon says "I guess Eclipse."

The door closes, and this wakes up Hikari.

Moon says "Good morning"

She rushes and hugs him with all her might.

The hug was so tight that Moon's face was red and he struggled to breathe.

Moon says in pain "Let me go!"

Hikari says "But you would just run away."

Moon says "Where to? I have nowhere I need to go."

She says "It won't stop you from leaving anyway."

He says "Let me go! I can't breathe."

Hikari loosens her hold and then says "How about now?"

Moon takes this chance to take her by surprise and flips her laying on the bed while Moon is on top of her.

Moon says "Are you done?"

Hikari says "You always so grumpy these days. Also, you don't tell me anything."

Moon mumbles "Why..."

She responds "Huhh"

He says "Nothing, you wouldn't get."

Hikari shouts "I get everything about you. No one else will."

Those words echo Moon's mind like she was trying to make him know that instinctively.

Moon pushes her away.

A big thump could be heard. Hikari falls out of the bed.

Moon gets up from the bed.

"Why... Why... do you push me away? All I want to do is love you... yet all you do is push me away."

Moon hears the sound of water but it feels different like the sound of water gushing.

He quickly looks at the ground, finds a track suit that he has barely ever worn, and switches from his battle-torn clothes. The black and gray tracksuit combined with his worn-out black shoes were a fashion combo.

He stops hearing that water-gushing sound and turns around.

As he is about to turn around he feels a solid but foreign texture on his shoulder. Moon turns and looks at a dark purple sword on his shoulder. This sword stretches from Hikari's slime-like hand to his shoulder.

Moon says "Can you put that away?"

Hikari says "I can't trust you. Not even a bit. So I will keep you to all to myself."

Moon says "How you gonna do that?" while crouching down to a piece of wood on his floor.

He breaks it and feels around and feels nothing he wants in there.

Hikari says "Are you looking for the knife you stole at the army store three months ago at 3:25 pm on a Sunday afternoon?"

He says "Ok, so you know about that one." Moon reaches under his bed to find something missing.

Hikari says "I took your axe. and don't even try your shole sole glass shard. I didn't take it but I think that lab did."

Moon stands back up.

Hikari says "I just want to protect you. I have the power. All I will do is take your limps and we can be together forever."

Moon turns completely around to look her in the face and sees that Hikari's lightly colored golden eyes are now dark gold.

Her eyes were wide open like she didn't want to miss a detail. She didn't blink so she couldn't miss a second.

Moon thought "I don't want to lose parts of my body. I might want to save her but I have to save myself first. I have to catch her off guard. How can I?"
