Chapter 40:

Azure flame clan

Rebirth of the mighty overlord

As the distant sound of the rattling of the carriage wheels grew closer gathering the attention of the attendants who were attending to the garden of the dragon clan.

"Who is that?" An attendant lady who had been relatively new to the dragon clan and had been cutting the grass suddenly asked, curiously.

Judging by the appearance of the carriage whomever it was, was obviously someone of a really high status.

But she didn't recognize the emblem embedded on the side of the carriage.

"Th-That is the emblem of the Azure flame clan!"

"What, really?"

"It's actually someone from the kingdom of Aslis!" Those who had recognize the emblem all paled and promptly lowered their heads in reverence.

The azure flame clan.

Who did not know of one of the great major clans of the kingdom of Aslis.

Their destructive prowess was not inferior to those of the sun clan, in actuality, if the sun clan and the clan of Azure flames were to ever fight each other it was extremely difficult to predict who would come out victorious as they both had their own secret techniques.

A beautiful woman with long waist length inky black hair came running out as she held the hem of her long black gown.

The luxurious golden carriage came to a stop as the door swung opened and an elegant mature black-haired woman who donned a purple gown came stepping out.

"M-Mother, why are you here?" Amelia asked as she panted for breath. The beautiful black-haired woman looked at Amelia lovingly as the feather fan in her hand closed with a small flop.

"Oh, why I am here, that's a strange question to ask. Am I not allowed to see my beloved daughter who had been away from me for so long?" The black-haired woman asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"Eh, ah well..." Amelia was left speechless and unable to come up with any response after hearing that. Eventually, tears welled up in her eye as she hugged her mother. She surrendered to the familial warmth radiating from her clothes as she clung to her mother tightly.

"It's not just me, everyone from the azure flame clan also misses you greatly."

The black-haired woman gently wipes away the tears from Amelia's eyes as she whispers softly. "Th-They miss me... But he." Amelia's lips trembled as she tried to articulate her words.

"My child, I know you still haven't come to terms with his death but in order for you to move on, you have to let it go."

Amelia didn't respond and just continued to cling onto her mother's body lovingly. In the past she was actually very angry at her mother for forcing her into a political marriage.

Back then the Kingdom of Nahinil and the kingdom of Aslis were hostile to each other because of the animosity between the two kings. Many wars occurred between the two nations on several occasions.

The dragon clan, sun clan and the moon clan would then engage in battle with the clan of Azure flames, the clan of radiant light and the wind clan in bloodied war!

Each clan of the neighboring kingdoms were the greatest form of defense of each kingdom. The azure flame clan were the best in using fire magic, and their flames were extremely special.

The radiant light clan was a clan that was proficient in the use of light magic.

Their light magic had wondrous healing even greater than those of the clan of great wave located in the kingdom of Lithonia.

The wind clan were the best in the use of wind magic, and were feared for their great speed and mobility.

Back then the difference in strength between the two kingdoms weren't that big and they had been in a stalemate without a way to change the situation, that is until the dragon clan had managed to produce a very strong warrior!

The son of the patriarch, Luis dragon, someone who would later shake the entire continent with his impressive mastery over the sword!

With each swing of his sword, the heads of those who he deemed as his enemies would fall and their bloods would stain the land.

He was a peerless existence, with an incomparable talent for the sword.

His might was unstoppable!

At that moment the situation on the battlefield was turned completely into the favor of the kingdom of Nahinil. The king of the Aslis kingdom could only surrender reluctantly as there was no way for them to make a comeback.

As a form of peace treaty, the king offered the dragon clan the heir of one of their strongest clans. That was the eldest daughter of the Azure flame clan, boasting great mastery over the use of fire magic.

Amelia was then brought over to the kingdom of Nahinil and stayed in the dragon clan.

At that time her love for him had yet to blossom so the panicked she felt in her heart goes without saying.

Back then even though she understood the situation to a certain extent her younger self couldn't accept the political marriage; she couldn't help the anger that was gradually brewing in her heart as she was forced to endure the situation.

She felt as though she was abandoned by her own family and people and that thought filled her heart with resentment towards them.

It was only after she had spent so many years living alongside Luis that her heart had eventually opened up and she had come to genuinely love him. He was her most precious loved one, at the time before Alan's birth she had thought they would always be together forever, that was how it was supposed to be until...

He had fallen ill from an unknown poison and was assassinated. At that moment it felt like her whole world had come crashing down as she had lost someone truly special to her heart.

Even now a part of her still refuses to accept what had happened. The black-haired woman had seen through that reluctance that still continues to persist within her which was why she had said what she said just now.

"M-Mother I can't... I really can't accept what happened." Amelia sobbed in her mother's bosom. The black-haired woman caresses Amelia's cheeks tenderly as she began to console her.

Meanwhile, Alan had stopped at the entrance of the mansion as he watch everything take place closely, when he saw the state, his mother was in a brief look of concern flash across his face before disappearing an instant later.

Subconsciously, his hand trembled as he clenched his knuckles tightly into a fist. Alan had no memories of his father in this life as he was already dead before he was even born. However, he truly cherished his mother.

He always liked the kind loving motherly smile she always put on whenever he was around her so seeing her in such a sad and depressive state had completely angered him.

Someone dares to make his mother sad!

Someone dares to make her cry!

He was going to teach them a lesson they could only learn once in their lifetime as once the lesson ends their time in this world would also be coming to an end!

Because he didn't have any memories of his father although he was still upset about his death he never desired or try to pursue any kind of vengeance but now, it was different they made his beloved mother sad, and also, they made her cry, an unforgivable act!

'At some point I should find the organization responsible for his death and show them what happens when you become enemies with an overlord!' Alan's lips curved upwards into an evil smirk as he thought that.

[... I don't know whether I should feel awe that they had managed to bring out such an emotion out of you despite being nothing more than low level ants, or pity them for being the targets of your wrath.] Akane's slightly surprised voice resounded.

After Amelia had calm down and moved away from her chest, the black-haired woman finally notice Alan who was calmly observing them. "Oh, little Alan you seem to have grown up nicely." She said in a joyful tone. That seem to have caught Amelia's attention as she quickly wipes away her tears in a panic.

Before Alan could react, the black-haired woman had already arrived before him, wrapping her arms around his tiny body. Alan's eyes widen as he was taken aback by the sudden and unexpected development.

He didn't have any memories of his grandma. That was to be expected as the last time she came to visit, Alan was simply too young to remember her. However, despite that he didn't resist her advanced.

"M-Mother!" Amelia pouted and tried to separate Alan who was being hugged by her mother. After a few back and forth she finally decided to let him go, allowing Amelia to have her share of hugging him. The corners of Alan's lips twitches when he was being pulled by the two.

'I can't help but feel like a small animal being mistreated.'

[He hehe... Instead of complaining most people would enjoy being sandwich between two beautiful women, you know.]

'Hmph, I'm not interested.' Came his immediate response.

"Mother we should go inside; you can tell me more about the situation of the azure flame clan over a cup of tea." Amelia suddenly suggested. The black-haired woman smiled and nodded her head gently at that.

However...

Swoosh!

Suddenly, from the entrance of the mansion a flash of golden light shot out at an impossible speed! Sending a fierce ripple through the air. Alan furrowed his brow as he senses the fluctuations of the magical energy in the atmosphere!

The golden light traveled in a straight line, heading directly towards Amelia's mother.

Alan's face froze for a moment and the thought of intercepting the Sudden attack cross his mind. However, something else happened that surprised him.

The black-haired woman, far from looking panic about the sudden attack, seemed indifferent Instead. Powerful ripple of magical energy began to surge around her hand as she casually opened up the feather fan in her hand with a flop, and with a small and seemingly casual wave of her slender hand, blue flames shot out at frightening temperature and collided with the streak of golden light.

BOOOOOM!

A loud explosion occurred as both attacks met their marks!

The golden light was completely incinerated, as the blue flames gradually dispersed into the atmosphere!

"Hahahaha! Good, good! I see that your still as sharp as ever, matriarch Clara, of the Azure flame clan."

With a heartily laugh, an old burly man came from the entrance of the mansion.

The black-haired woman who goes by the name Clara narrowed her emerald eyes as she said softly, "And your just as brutish as I remembered, Cole dragon, patriarch of the dragon clan."

"Hahaha! You managed to stop my attack without even giving it your best, not bad."

"Hmph, mind telling me why you are attacking me?" Clara's eyes became icy as she asked. "Now, now why that look? The kingdom of Aslis has been so peaceful these days I couldn't help but wonder how much the azure flame clan has weakened over the corrosion of peace." Cole replied with a faint grin on his face.

"Humph, don't underestimate my azure flame clan, even through the river of peace we are still just as fierce as ever." Clara snorted as she spoke. Alan gaze deeply at the two discreetly.

'These two, the aura they are emanating is really strong, looks like I underestimate the humans of this era.' He thought with a small frown. Humans weren't this strong back then.

[Hmm... I'm surprised as well. Though it had been a really long time since we were gone, there are still many things we don't know.] Akane responded.

'Once we leave... We will have to explore some of the other territories of this continent before we go over to the other six continent.' Alan thought inwardly.
