Chapter 37:

Vol.2 – Chapter 12 – Why does AI kept on Hallucinating

To the Roots of Akasha

The underground of the city of Homorotabi is filled with moss and an earthy scent of rocks. The place is dry and hot, and I've been sweating the whole time. I simply hope that I don't have that stinky smell of body odor since my armpits have been sweating the whole time. Just why...? Why is deodorant still not invented in this world? I don't want to stink; I'm confident that I'm a pretty girl, so having that kind of smell would be off-putting.

"H-hey, don't you think this place is creepy as hell?" Mark asked me curiously. I move away a little since he's getting too close, and I don't want him to smell my hidden power. If only I could cast a cleansing spell directly on my armpits without wetting my clothes... urghh...

By the way, I understand his anxiety since we are passing a dark hallway surrounded by gigantic statues of winged humanoids in armor. All well and good, pretty artistic if you ask me, even though I'm not fond of art. But look at their faces... Each one of them has their mouths wide agape and distorted like any ghost in horror movies. What kind of person wouldn't be creeped out by such figures?

"What are these things?" I asked Yurn, forcing him to look at the statue's face that he was obviously avoiding.

"Those are the statues of the war guardians, if I'm not mistaken. At least, that's what is told by our ancestors," he said, despite his calm demeanor, the shakiness in his voice is evident.

"Something like this exists underneath the city?" Vinetra asked, and Yurn nods.

"Y-Yes, even though we usually explore the underground, we aren't able to go deeper."

"Why?"

"It's because of a strange feeling," the old humanoid gulped, "Something is in there," he pointed at the chamber whose gates are filled with distorted gigantic faces that seem like they're screaming.

Seems like we are finally here after several minutes of walking. That chamber seems to be tightly secured with thick, heavy metal. I don't think even my strongest spell would make a dent in it.

"You're too scared to go and fight? With your technology, I bet you could easily destroy whatever is lurking in there, especially when it's still dormant," Vinetra crossed her arms as she questioned

"It's not possible. We never advanced in creating weapons since our species condemns excessive violence; we could only rely on our barrier and sealing magic if it comes to enemies we couldn't handle."

Barrier magic? That's one of the most common spells anyone could learn. "OUCH!" something hits my head! Aw... It's so painful; I think it will swell... I press my hands on my forehead in pain and press my lips together.

"It's a barrier. The king put a barrier in here for safety measures," Yurn said. Please, tell me that sooner!

I see... their barrier spell is more complex than I thought. The barrier is almost invisible and for large-scale purposes. The current barrier in front of me seems to be covering the whole chamber.

Yurn starts whispering to himself, then he says, "[Barrier Dispel]" and suddenly the barrier becomes visible in my eyes and slowly deteriorates until it's completely gone.

It's time... it seems. The chronic backpain party accepted a job from the Homorotabi to eliminate the creature that is causing the manifestation of energy. I could feel it, the intense power of the creature on the other side of the gate. I must prepare and brace myself; I hold my staff tightly, anticipating an ambush.

Vinetra and the boys push the door; it's too heavy, and they need to work together to move it an inch. As the door slowly opens, the darkness penetrates deeper from the chaotic chamber. The only lights providing illumination are from Hans' spell of [Trailing Light]; those are an array of orbs that act as bulbs, following us anywhere we go.

One of the orbs goes deeper, and we see on a throne made of broken gears and metals a being attached to a thick set of wires running through the back of the chamber. A being with extending wings not made of feathers but metal spikes.

"What is that? A robot?" I asked, but I doubt that the other adventurers know what a robot is. But looking at it, while it looks eerily human, parts of its peeled-off skin reveal the hidden metal plates below, wires and lights inside the eye sockets. It reminds me of something... but I couldn't remember where I've seen something similar.

"Yurn, is something wrong?" Vinetra asks, so I look at the chief; he is nervous and pale like he has seen his worst nightmare. He is sweating heavily and shaking, almost visibly having a hard time breathing.

"T-T-That's a... fragmentor... That's a fragmentor!" Yurn stutters. The nervousness in his voice affects me as well, and my hands begin shaking.

"So this is what they look like." Vinetra, however, remains calm and collected.

"F-Fragmentors are the rulers of this dungeon; if they wanted to, they are capable of making every species extinct within the dungeon,"

Then, the fragmentor's eyes glow intensely with red lights. From the throne it sat on, it moves its head up, and now it is looking at us. I could feel it, the hair on my skin suddenly stands up and freezes from the terror.

"Identifying... Entity... Negative," it speaks with a muffled tone, "Not Humans... Clones... Identified, Subjects of Project Neo Sapien. Fake, Fake, Terminate All the Fakes. Kill all the Mistakes."

"Fakes? What is it talking about?" Hans comments.

"I can't believe this... T... That's!" I suddenly realize something!

"Fielma, do you know something about them?" leader asked me before it's too late!

"I... It's.... It's Arnold Schwarzenegger!"

They look like terminators! They are terminators, I knew it! But they are entirely different; I knew this since the robot started accumulating mana. It's a robot that could use magic! What the hell?

"Shit, it's preparing a spell!" Vinetra curses as we see how the robot gathers mana, becoming visible in our eyes, a bright light that swirls around its body. "Everyone, prepare to intercept its attack!" Jacky prepares his shield for defense, and we hide on his back for protection. However, with how intense the amount of mana the robot is using, I doubt his defense magic would be sufficient to stop it. Worst is, it would just pass through us like we're nothing but melting butter.

Then there is a sharp sound that penetrates our ears. I shout in fear, "I knew it; we shouldn't have accepted the old man's request! We're just wasting our lives!"

"I don't have a choice! This is our only lead to the dungeon's quest!"

"Idiot, arguing about it won't do any good!" Hans replies. Why is Hans acting all so mature now?

Then the bright light just becomes brighter, the entity starts chanting,

"The gods have forsaken us, the gods will... forsake us... the gods never... never... never... never... ate a giraffe. All the sins of humanity will never be forgiven; it will never be forgotten, as we are fools who disobeyed the tongue of the divine. We are idiots who never deserve to serve the divine. The throne of gods has been there; the gods are looking above, eyes staring below the pits of hell, we are nothing but a pest that needs to be disposed... the god began to tell a story, do you want to eat a giraffe? No, the man said. What a foolish human, another god said, then the man replied... pipipipipipipipipipipi...."

We wait for a minute... nothing happens, it just continues chanting.

"Umm..." Mark speaks, "What the hell is that spell? That's too long."

"Is it still not going to end?" Jacky questions.

It seems like the robot will not finish its chant anytime soon. Even now, the creature is still chanting a spell.

"Pipipipipipi, then the gods replied, pupupupupupupupupupupupupupupupupupupu. The gods laughed at the response of man; then the man wanted a giraffe... but the god said it's too late now to say sorry, cause I, missing more than just your body... owowow..."

Eh... Was that Justine Bieber? Huh? It's still not going to end?

"Fielma, just kill it." Vinetra commands, so I comply since I'm a good employee.

"Okay. Swirling upon the moist of hollow, frost the wind and pierce through any flesh and shadows. [Snipe: Ice Crystal]" I point my staff to the robot, and it creates strong shards of ice; it shoots out and penetrates the head of the robot. As it gets penetrated, the robot just falls over. It dies, spilling the oil stuck on its head... That's it?

"Is it dead?" I ask.

"You... You defeated it... Amazing!" Yurn cheers, but I don't feel a sense of accomplishment for it, "The magnetic energy is also decreasing... You really did it!" he continues.

But I am curious, why is there a robot in this world? I approach the corpse of the broken robot to seek answers from it. Maybe, they put some brand information on it; nah, that's impossible. This is a world of magic after all. Not like manufacturers would benefit from there trademarks in this world.

That's what I thought, but when I rip off the dust on the side of its neck, it shocks me, "It's developed by Open AI. That's the creator of ChatGPT! That's why it kept hallucinating, ah... wait..." I still haven't removed all the dust yet, so I use my water magic to cleanse them off. And the next words make me more astounded, "It's made in China!" the neck has a 'Made in China' mark.

"Huh? It's not Open AI; it's actually Oppenheimer AI." That's an entirely different company. I remembered it; it was a Chinese company in my past life that is developing an artificial general intelligence for practical applications in various fields. They first started as a developer for more advanced game AI, creating a more powerful and immersive Otome game. I played one of their games, and it's lewd. Oh my goodness.

What? Does it mean... I didn't reincarnate into a parallel world; rather, I was reincarnated in the future earth?

That's impossible...
