Chapter 107:
Spice of Life
As Rika watched the last customer of the night leave, two women suddenly barged into the restaurant.
"Sorry, but we're past closing," Rika glared as she recognized the two women. They were the notorious Hasselhan sisters , Gracie and Sidney Hasselhan, assassins from America.
"Well ain't that a shame. Now no one's gonna see our little "cook off" Gracie sneered.
"And you are?"
"Gracie Hasselhan, and with me is my lovely twin sister Sidney. We're here for payback now that my arm's better."
"Oh, so my knife went into your arm? A shame. I was aiming for your neck."
"Gracie! This is a bad idea! She's healed and can easily best us!" Sidney whispered.
"NAH! I said I was gonna beat her in a "cook off" and that's why I'm here. To make her eat LEAD!" Gracie declared as she whipped out her gun and fired.
Rika barely managed to dodge as Gracie immediately whipped out a second gun and began firing.
"Shit! This bitch is a quick draw. I won't be able to counterattack until she runs out of-UGH!"
Before Rika could complete her thought, she suddenly felt something smack her in the shoulder, throwing off her rhythm and causing some bullets to graze her in various places.
"That hurt you bitch!" Rika glared at Sidney.
"Oh? That's the intention. We're here to kill you," Sidney glared as she retracted her spiked whip.
Gracie and Sidney Hasselhan were twin sisters as well as elite assassins from America. Gracie was the sharpshooter and master gunslinger while Sidney was the master of a ranged whip. The two were easy to beat in a close range fight, however they were nigh unapproachable in a mid-range fight. Assuming the foe wasn't killed immediately by Gracie's bullets, Sidney's whip would keep them in check long enough for Gracie to finish them off.
Rika suddenly felt a great surge of pain in her shoulder as she mustered her strength to dive out of the way of Cracie's stream of bullets.
"Shit! Don't tell me the whip was poisoned. Dammit! Waki already left for the night. Heck, I'm the only one here," Rika frantically thought.
Suddenly, Rika found herself bound in Sidney's whip.
"MMPH!?" Rika gasped as the whip wrapped around her mouth as she fell to the floor with a thud.
"Well that was easy. See told you we could take her," Gracie snickered as she aimed her guns at Rika and fired.
"MMPH NGH!" Rika shouted as she mustered all her strength to move out of the way and drag Sidney along with her.
Sidney let out a scream as she was dragged into the path of the bullets and hit by them. However, she still maintained her hold on the whip as Rika flailed around.
"*Tch* Oi Sidney! You alive?" Gracie hollered as she reloaded.
"Thanks to my bullet proof armor. Now next time DON'T HIT ME!" Sidney shouted back as she activated the hidden stakes in her boot heels in an attempt to stop her momentum.
Rika immediately fell face first onto the ground as Gracie once again aimed at her. However, she held her fire as she stared Rika in the eye.
"Well seems like I can't do anything. Seems like we need some more hands. Oi Pete! Kill's yours!" Gracie shouted.
Rika barely managed to dodge a bullet that landed mere centimeters away from her face.
"Shit! They got a sniper too. Bastard must be camping out on a nearby building," Rika thought.
Sure enough, Pete Worthington, the third main member of the Hasselhan's team was perched atop a faraway building wielding a custom sniper rifle. Despite his bushy red hair obscuring his eyes 24/7, Pete was a gifted marksman and was unmatched in long-range combat.
Inside the restaurant, Rika frantically contemplated her next move in her mind, before mustering her strength to once again move at breakneck speed. The restraints hindered her movement greatly, and also caused great strain to her body as a result of her trying to move while tied up. However, she once again managed to take Sidney flying with her, though this time, Gracie held her fire. Rika then headed for the freezer door in the kitchen and tried to further wrap herself up in the whip before reaching the door.
"Is she trying to slam me into the door? Well winding me up just gave it away, and sealed your fate," Sidney thought as she let go of the whip.
Rika slammed down to the ground and let out a muffled yelp as the spiked whip dug further into her flesh. She managed to stand herself up, but was now incapable of moving around like she did before.
"Well, well, well. Right before the freezer. Heh, Sidney open up the freezer and kick her in," Gracie mused.
"NO! She'll use the opportunity to turn the tables! Shoot her now! My whip is now completely immobilizing her and the poison will kick in shortly. She can't move so take a shot! My whip won't break if you hit it with a few shots," Sidney retorted.
"Fine. But you get to dispose of her corpse," Gracie shrugged as she fired.
Rika then hopped in the air and spun around quickly, smacking away the bullet with the whip's handle. Suddenly, the whip came undone and Rika was free.
"Shit! She must have used the bullet's momentum to untangle the whip from her!" Sidney fumed as a bloody Rika glared at the two.
"Well now that I can talk again, let me say this, you're both going to hell!" Rika glared as she hurled her spare knife at breakneck speed at Gracie's neck.
Gracie yelped in pain as she was nicked by the knife while attempting to dodge it.
Rika then charged and punched Sidney in the face, downing her instantly.
"Huh? She went down faster than I thought. Guess she was a glass canon. Though just to be safe..."
Rika quickly tossed the unconscious Sidney into the freezer she had opened and slammed the door shut.
"Now let's see if third time's the charm," Rika glared as she grabbed a new knife and stared down the wounded Gracie.
Gracie's eyes darted around the room madly until she spotted something on the counter. She immediately reached inside and shoved its contents into her mouth.
"Knew it was sugar! Time to kill kill kill kill KILL!" Gracie shouted as a deranged smile appeared across her face.
Her movements drastically sped up as Rika struggled to keep track of her.
Gracie's moniker was "Sugar shootin Gracie". The reason she got this nickname was due to how hyperactive and deranged she would get after intaking a large quantity of sugar. The more sugar she intook, the more powerful she'd get. Of course, she'd naturally be left in a tired and vulnerable state when her sugar high wore off. Of course, her sugar high could be extended id she constantly had a source of sugar.
Rika winced in pain as the poison began to take effect, but powered through the pain as she pushed herself to the limit to take down Gracie. Gracie didn't make it easy. She'd fire off multiple rounds and use anything laying around as a projectile to hurl at Rika. She even lit all the stoves in an attempt to limit Rika's movements. However, Rika finally managed to get an opening when she kicked a bottle of spice right into the wound on Gracie's neck. The impact and damage from the bottle hitting her, caused Gracie to crash to the ground and wither in pain as Rika wasted no time in stabbing her in the throat.
"Sid-...-ney...I'm...sorry," Gracie moaned as she died.
*Clang*
Rika immediately turned towards the freezer and saw a frantic Sidney banging away at the door through it's window. Tears welled up in her eyes, however, the cold from the freezer caused them to freeze to her face. Her pounding began to grow weaker as the cold began to take effect. Eventually, she slumped down.
"Won't be long till she's dead. Now just gotta deal with the sniper some-GAH! Ugh, damn poison's starting to hit me," Rika groaned as she hobbled towards the stoves to turn them off.
Once that was done, she collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.
"Damn. I might actually die. Shit, and I made a mess of the place and killed. Masaru's gonna be pissed. Shit, I can't even reach for my phone. Dammit. I didn't want to go out like this, but guess that's how it goes for assassins like me. We die young on the battlefield," Rika thought as her consciousness began to fade.
