One Day at Her House

“Look! He is cute right?”

“Y-yeah! He is so cute!”

After Yamauchi-san invite me to her room, she shows me her cat’s picture.

“What i-is his n-name?”

“Kuro!”

“Because his fur is black?”

“Yes! And look at this video! He is so cute when he just lays down on the sofa. I feel like I want to be hug by Kuro!”

“Yamauchi seems to like cat so much.”

“Of course! Don’t you have any pets?”

“No. Maybe I should try to get a cat after this. At least I am not too lonely at home after this.”

“Are you live alone, Homura-kun?”

“Yes.”

“Me too! I thought that you live with your family or…”

“Or what?”

“A girlfriend?”

If only that really happened. That is one of my imagination simulations that happen in my head almost every day. But wait. Since when that I can have a proper conversation with Yamauchi-san? I thought that I was still nervous talking with her. Do I have been hypnotized somehow?

“No, I don’t have a girlfriend. How about you, Yamauchi-san? Don’t you have too?”

“A boyfriend. Not for now maybe. I want to enjoy my life as much as possible. I will wait for my true love to come in my life later. You too, Homura-kun! I believe that you will find your own true love out there! When you marry someone, make sure to invite me to your wedding too! We are friend, right!”

“O-okay!”

Why do I feel like she just put a line between us right now? Why do I feel like I the one who was rejected by her after what she says earlier? Do I like her? But I just admired her only. Come on, what are these weird feelings in my heart?

“Homura-kun, are you okay?”

“I’m f-f-fine!”

“It’s okay then. Do you want to exchange phone number with me?”

“O-okay.”

After I exchange phone number with each other, I go back to my room and lay on the bed again. Conversation with Yamauchi-san start to appear again in my head. I will find my own true love out there, huh. I don’t know about that. Before this, I never confessed my love to anyone as I afraid that I will be reject by girl although many I have a crush on someone. I am just like a loser, right? I am afraid to take the first step and that what’s make me, and Shinji is different. He is confident and dares to take a challenge but me, a person who tries to run from everything. Like a coward.

That morning, Shinji’s car had been repaired after Shinji and I tried to push the car to the nearest workshop there that have open earlier this morning. Then, we go back to town by afternoon. After sent Nami-san and Yamauchi-san back to their home, Shinji suddenly asking me,

“So, what is your impression on Marina? She is so pretty, right?”

“Yeah, too pretty for me. How can I going out with her? I don’t even have any charming point.”

“Why are you being so pessimistic, Kouta? Can you try to become more positive? Believe me you have many charming points that you don’t even know.”

“What is it?”

“Hmmm, you always pay me the food, you always lend me your money for my date, and you always help me at office.”

“Except for the last, is it that mean that I am just your banker?’

“That is the some of the things that I can see in you, but you don’t know how other people see in you right?”

“Yes.”

“So, you just need to become yourself and believe that some of people think that you have your own charming points, although I don’t know too much.”

“You are so annoying just now but thank you for your advice.”

“You are welcome! Look we finally arrive at your house!”

“Thank for yesterday and today, see you tomorrow at office.”

“See you too!”

Next day, at the office, while I do my work, suddenly Yamauchi-san send me a message.

“Homura-kun, you like a cat, right?”

“Yes, why?”

“I have a friend that has many cats and she said she wants to give them to someone. Do you want to pet a cat?”

“Yes.”

“Okay! I will tell her later!”

“Alright.”

I will have a cat at my home. Just like Yamauchi-san too. No, what am I thinking! I just admire her only not have a crush on her. Right? I don’t want to think much about this as I still have work that needs to be done by today.

“ Homura-san, here is the paperwork that manager forgot to give you earlier.”

“Ah, thank you, Ishida-san.”

“You are welcome.”

Ishida-san is one of my colleagues here. I started knowing her when she and I were put in one team to manage the projects that were assigned to us. She is quite popular here and I heard she had been confessed by many peoples in the office including Shinji. But not everyone can become her king in her heart as she said she already has someone who throne her heart. Is it me? Hahaha, that’s not even funny. As I’m lost in my own world, I look at my smartphone and realize there a message from Yamauchi-san.

“Homura-kun, I already asked my friend and she agreed to give you one of her cats. Can you come to my house to get the cat?”

Come to her house? Do I still dreaming right now?

“If you fine with me.”

“Okay!” I will tell you the address later and see you on this Sunday! Bye!”

“Bye.”

I will come to her house this Sunday. What should I wear? Should I buy new clothes? Stop, Kouta! The reason I come to her house just to get a cat and then go back to my home directly after that! Right?

Today is already Sunday. The days go by so fast that I forgot if I had been to the work from Monday until Friday or not. Did I expecting this day too much? Without realizing, I was already in front of her house. She is living on the tenth floor of an apartment. Right now, is eleven in the morning and I am already sweating after walking from my car to this apartment. So, what I need to do now is push this doorbell, greet Yamauchi-san, get a cat, and go back to home after that. Yes! Perfect plan!

Ding-dong!

The door is open and when Yamauchi-san show herself in front of door, I realize something. Yamauchi-san is wearing pink pajama while rubbing her eyes.

“Y-yamauchi-san?! Did just woke up from your sleep?”

“Yes. Last night, I had been playing games until 4 at this morning.”

“R-really, sorry f-for d-disturbing your s-leep!”

“Its fine! And we already promised to meet today, right? This is my own fault for not reminding myself about today. Please come in! My friend said she is already on her way here, bring her cats!”

“O-okay.”

My plan are already failed. I guess i will go with the flow for now. I wish nothing weird happen to me later. As I enter her house, it is full of sweet scent. Her interior looks so neat and tidy. On the wall, there are also many framed pictures. There is picture when she still baby until she was teenager. She was so pretty since she was small. Now, I wonder how her parents look. Then, this picture suddenly catches my intention. In this picture, Yamauchi-san were hugging a man. They looked so happy while posing in this picture.

“Y-yamauchi-san, you look so happy in this picture,” while pointing at that picture.

“Right! I was so happy with him at that time! Homura-kun, you can try taste these cookies that I made yesterday! I hope you enjoy it!”

“T-thank you.”

Ding-dong!

“I think that is her!”

While Yamauchi-san open the door, I can see her friend’s face from inside and I’m so surprised to see her here.
